0.1 improved significantly, while the eyesights of the other patients improved slightly or not at all. In the 53 cases of mass diseases,45 cases (84.9 %) required complete removal whereas 8 cases required bulk removal. No cases of sunken eyeball was found. Snuffle was improved in all cases. Most symptoms disappeared and no optic nerve injury resulted after the tumors in the orbital apex were removed. CONCLUSION Selecting the proper operative approach is important to the uncovering of the operative area. The use of navigation systems and endoscope could increase the rate of complete removals, result in fewer injuries of vessels and nerves, and avoid facial incision.

Microwave-assisted extraction was optimized with response surface methodology for HPLC-fluorescence determination of puerarin and daidzein in Radix Puerariae thomsonii. The optimized extraction procedure was achieved by soaking the sample with 70% methanol(1∶15,v/v)for 30 min,and then microwave irradiation for 11 min at a power of 600 W.Coupling the extraction process with HPLC-fluorescence presented good recovery, satisfactory precision, and good linear relation.Compared with a method from the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, the proposed method enables higher extraction efficiency and more accurate analytical results. It can be of potential value in quality assessment of Radix Puerariae thomsonii medicinal materials.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2015;29(14):1272-1275
OBJECTIVE:
To provide a basis for the prediction and early diagnosis of laryngeal cancer through data mining and analysis.
METHOD:
We constructed a laryngeal cancer data warehouse on Caché and combined IBM Cognos for on-line analytical processing. After building research data set, software Weka was used for feature selection and data mining.
RESULT:
Data warehouse of laryngeal cancer was structured and Laryngeal cancer data were multidimensional presented. It is possible to find the high relevant and potential characteristics associated with laryngeal cancer by integration and 2-phase feature subset of data mining to extract the larynx.
CONCLUSION
Application of data mining technology could help clinicians to find potential clinical knowledge and make early diagnosis of laryngeal cancer.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of peri-implantitis inflammatory microenvironment on the biological function of jaw bone osteoblasts.
METHODSPrimary mandible osteoblasts from peri-implantitis and normal tissue were isolated and cultured. Third-generation purified osteoblasts were identified and detected. The proliferative activity of osteoblasts was evaluated through MTT assay. Osteocalcin (OCN), Runx2, and collagen I (Col I) mRNA levels were examined by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. OCN protein levels were determined by Western blot.
RESULTS: After 4 d of culture, the proliferative activity of osteoblasts from peri-implantitis became lower than that of normal tissue ( P <0.05). After 7 d of culture, OCN, Runx2, and Col I mRNA expression decreased ( P <0.05). The OCN protein levels also decreased ( P <0.05).
CONCLUSIONPeri-implantitis inflammatory microenvironment can decrease the proliferation and differentiation activity of mandible osteoblasts.
