Objective To clarify the mechanism of lipoprotein (a) [Lp (a)] metabolic disorder in patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis (MHD), and to offer theoretical basis for seeking for modus operandi of disorder control. Methods The apolipoprotein (a)[apo(a)] isoforms were identified by high-resolution SDS-agarose gel electrophoretic method followed by immunobloting in 61 patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis (MHD group), 51 patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD group) and 62 healthy controls (healthy control group). The influential factors for elevated serum level of lipoprotein (a) in MHD group were analyzed by applying statistical method. Results No statistical difference of Lp (a) median level was found between MHD group and ESRD group in LWM isoforms, but their level was significantly higher than that of healthy control group. In MHD group, the concentrations of serum creatine(Crea),cystatin C(CysC) and C-reactive protein(CRP) were significantly higher (P<0.05), while the concentrations of albumin(Alb) and Hb were lower than those of healthy control group (P<0.05). The concentration of LDL-C had no significant difference between MHD group and healthy control group. Compared with those of ESRD group, the levels of Crea, CRP and CysC were not significantly increased (P<0.05) in MHD group. There was no difference in the level of Lp (a) between the MHD and the ESRD patients with LMW-apo (a) isoforms (P>0.05), but compared with healthy control group, the serum levels of Lp (a) in the two groups were remarkably increased (P<0.05). The level of Lp (a) with LMW-apo (a) were significantly correlated with Alb and CysC respectively (P<0.05). The level of Lp (a) with HMW-apo (a) of MHD patients were higher than that of ESRD patients (P<0.05). The patients in the two groups had higher levels of Lp (a) as compared with those of healthy control group. The positive correlation of Lp (a) level with CRP and CysC was observed in patients with HMW-apo (a) (P<0.01). As MHD group as concerned, Lp (a) level was associated with Alb and CysC (P<0.01); regression analysis showed that apo (a) isoforms, Alb and CysC were listed in the regression equation, and the determinate coefficient (r2) was 0.348, in which the respective r2 of apo (a) isoforms, Alb and CysC was 0.121, 0.178 and 0.049.Conclusion Multiple factors may contribute to the high level of Lp (a) in MHD patients. Moreover, Lp (a) with different isoforms of apo (a) had different influencing factors. The corresponding therapeutic measure should be taken according to apo (a) isoforms in order to acquire better therapeutic efficacy for MHD patients.

Objective The aim of this study was to investigate which inflammatory markers allow an accurate differentiation of septic and gouty arthritis. Methods In 2013 January to 2014 January 33 patients with septic arthritis and 29 patients with gouty arthritis.Detected white blood cells,C-reactive protein and uric acid of inflammatory markers in plasma and tested lac-tate,glucose,uric acid, lactate dehydrogenase and white blood cell count inflammatory markers in the synovial fluid.MedCalc 13.0 software were used for statistical analysis. Results There were no significantly different between serum C-reaction protein and WBC counts with two groups.Synovial lactate showed the greatest diagnostic potential (AUC=0.898,sensitivi-ty=96.9%,specificity=72.4%)followed by serum uric acid (AUC=0.818)and synovial uric acid (AUC=0.808).Con-clusion Lactate in the synovial fluid has excellent diagnostic potential to differ septic arthritis from gouty arthritis.Synovial lactate levers above 1.7 mmol/L almost proofed septic arthritis.

Objective To investigate the development and dynamic changes of host immune response in DBA/2 mice infected with Plasmodium yoelii 17XL. Methods Female DBA/2 mice were infected by intraperitoneal ( i. p. ) injection of 106 P. yoelii 17XL parasitized erythrocytes ( PRBC). Levels of IL-12, IFN-γ, IL-4, IL-10 and P. yoelii 17XL-specific antibody in sera were measured by ELISA. Concentrations of NO in cell supernatants were measured by the Griess reaction. Parasitemia, percentage of mononuclear-macrophages of individual mice were monitored daily, and phagocytosis of mononuclear macrophages was also observed. Results Primary parasitemia in vein blood was developed on day 3 postinfection, which peaked with a level of 46. 9% on day 9. Most mice cleared the infection and survived by day 20 postinfection. From day 6 to day 16, the phagocytosis of PRBC by rodent macrophages was observed on the blood smear. Infected mice had a continuously increased level of IL-12 in serum from day 1 postinfection. Accordingly, high level of IFN-γ was also detected in sera from day 1 postinfection, which peaked on day 6. Infected mice produced higher level of IL-4 and IL-10 in serum on day 6 postinfection, which peaked on day 9 and day 15 postinfection respectively. In addition, splenocytes from infected mice produced significantly higher level of NO on day 6 and 20 postinfection. Level of P. yoelii 17XL-specific IgG was determined in the sera of infected mice with a steadily increased trend after infection, which peaked on day 70 postinfection. Conclusions Effective polarizing of Thl cells is significant in inhibition of parasitemia and eventual clearance of the Plasmodium parasites. Activated mononuclear-macrophages play a key role in inhibiting parasitemia in the early phase of infection with P. yoelii 17XL.

Methods Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect VEGF levels in serum of the patients with cancers. Results The serum level of VEGF in the cancer group are significantly higher than that in the control group. The serum level of VEGF in patients with low level of hemoglobin ( 123.5 g/L) ( P

Objective: To investigate the effect of 1,3-diacylglycerol(DAG) on reducing blood lipid and obesity. Methods: Fifty SD rats were divided into five groups: triacylglycerol (TAG) low-fat diet, TAG high-fat diet, DAG high-dose , medium-dose and low-dose diet. The rats were fed for 6 w, and body weight was recorded every week. At the end of the experiment, the ratio of visceral fat to body weight was calculated, and blood lipid was analyzed. Results: The body weight of rats in TAG high-fat group was significantly higher than that in TAG low-fat group from the 2nd week (P

Objective To study correlation between systemic sclerosis(SSc)and plasma D-dimer and to reveal the probably rules of the fibrinolytic systems in SSc.Methods In 2013 January to 2014 January, cellected 32 patients with SSc and 35 with healthy controls to detected level of plasma D-dimer.Logistic and t student test were used for statistical analysis for correlation between SSc and pulmonary artery hypertension. Results When compared to healthy controls (0.28±0.04μg/ml),the level of plasma D-dimer were significantly increased in SSc patient (0.31±0.05μg/ml,t=1.997,P=0.008).After stratifying SSc patients according to disease subset, whereas patients with diffuse subset displayed substantially increased values (0.41±0.06μg/ml,t=2.051,P<0.001).The level of plasma D-dimer was associated with pulmonary artery hyper-tension (OR=4.38,95%CI=2.59~8.91,P=0.008).Conclusion Demonstrated that SSc patients with diffuse subset are characterized by increased plasma D-dimer values, reflecting a potential activation of fibrinolytic cascaded, which might finally predispose these patients to thrombotic complications and pulmonary artery hypertension.
