Chinese Journal of Biochemical Pharmaceutics 2014;37(4):140-141,144
Objective To observe and compare the efficacy of minocycline and iodine ointment in treatment of chronic periodontitis. Methods 82 cases with chronic periodontitis collected in our hospital from January 2012 to January 2013 were randomly divided into groups A and groups B,each had 41 cases.Basic treatment included removal of local irritation, the use of subgingival scaling and root planing clear debris, plaque, tartar, adjust occlusal trauma and food impaction, with 3% hydrogen peroxide, chlorhexidine solution rinse the periodontal pocket were used in both two groups.Group A was added minocycline, and group B were added iodine glycerin on the basis of basic treatment. The changes of periodontal clinical parameters and MMP-8, sICAM-1 in gingival crevicular fluid before and after treatment in two groups were observed and compared, and their efficacy were evaluated. Results The efficiency of group A(minocycline)was 100%,higher than 92.8% in group B(P<0.05).Clinical indicators of periodontal mitigation were alliviate and MMP-8,ICAM content in gingival crevicular fluid were reduced in both two group after treatment (P <0.05 ). Conclusion Minocycline and iodine glycerin have good efficacy in treatment of chronic periodontitis, and minocycline is more better.

Objective:To evaluate the clinical effect of minimally invasive extraction of impacted supernumerary teeth. Methods :35 cases of impacted supernumerary teeth were included.Excluding extraction contraindications, preoperative X-ray or dental CT examina-tion was executed to find out the location of the impacted teeth and adjacent anatomical structures.According to the location, operation approach was selected to extract the impacted supernumerary teeth using minimally invasive apparatus.Intraoperative and postoperative feeling of the patients and the complications were recorded. Results:Operation time lasted from 1 0 to 40 minutes, average 1 5 minutes. All patients maintained good comfort in the operation.8.6% patients had postoperative adverse reactions such as mild pain and discom-fort.None had serious reactions. Conclusion:Minimally invasive extraction of impacted supernumerary teeth has less complication and less uncomfort.

Objective To explore the best cut-point of waist-to-heisht ratio (WHtR) for identifying metabolic syndrome(MS)in adolescents. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in 4 507 adolescents aged 13-18 years in Qinhuangdao.Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was employed to determine the optimal WHtR cut-point for detecting MS.Results The prevalences of MS were higher among higher WHtR in both boys and girls.Odds ratios for MS significantly increased from the WHtR≥0.45 in boys(OR =13.85,95%CI 4.08-46.97)and in girls (OR=12.42,95%CI 2.62-58.96,P<0.01).The ROC curve analysis showed that the optimal WHtR cut-point was 0.45 in boys with the sensitivity of 89.4%and specificity of 81.4%.and in girls with sensitivity of 90.3%and specificity of 86.5%.Conclusion There is a significant correlation between WHtR and MS.Optimal WHtR cut-point for predicting MS is 0.45.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the effect of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) on ureteral injury repair via renal artery transplantation.
METHODS:
The left ureteral obstruction model was set up in 49 Balb/c mice by micro vascular clamp. The microscopic vascular clamp was taken out to lift the left ureteral obstruction after 10 days. The mice were randomly divided into an experimental group (n=25) and a control group (n=24). Balb/c mice BMSCs transfected by luciferase (Luc) were transplanted immediately through the renal artery after removing the microscopic vascular clamp from the experimental group; while mice in the control group was closed the incision after the microscopic vascular clamp was removed immediately and without BMSCs transplant. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was used to scan the experimental mice. By measuring the left renal pelvis volume of the experimental mice at different time points and comparing the left ureter recanalization rate after removing left ureteral obstruction of the experimental group and the control group, we evaluated the repair effect of BMSCs on ureteral injury.
RESULTS:
The volume of the left renal pelvis in experimental mice became bigger obviously after the left ureter was obstructed (P<0.01). The left renal pelvis volume of the experimental group and the control group had no statistical significance 10 days after the left ureteral obstruction was set up (P=0.693). In the experimental group, the left ureter recanalization rate was higher than that in the control group, after removing the left ureteral obstruction (P=0.012).
CONCLUSION
Transplantation through the renal artery can promote the restoration of ureteral injury in mice.

Objective To investigate the clinical effects of sinus elevation surgery and implant restorationdue to in-sufficient bone massafter tooth extraction in patients with odontogenic maxillary sinusitis(OMS)and to provide a refer-ence for use in clinical practice. Methods This study was reviewed and approved by the Ethics Committee, and in-formed consent was obtained from the patients.Forty-five teeth were extracted from patients with OMS in the maxillary posterior area(the study group).Sinus elevation and implantation were performed due to insufficient bone height in the implant area 6-8 months after tooth extraction in the study group.Forty-eight teeth were extracted from patients without"OMS"in the maxillary posterior area(the control group),and sinus elevation and implantation were performed due to insufficient bone height in the implant area 6-8 months after tooth extraction inthe control group. In the study group,13 cases of discontinuous maxillary sinus floor bone and residual alveolar bone height of the maxillary sinus floor less than 4 mm were addressed with lateral wall sinus elevation, and the other 32 cases were addressed with crest-approach sinus elevation. In the control group,8 cases of residual alveolar bone height less than 4 mm in the maxillary sinus floor were addressed with lateral wall sinus, and the other 40 cases were addressed with crest approach sinus elevation.Restora-tions were placed 6 to 8 months after surgery. The patients were followed up 21 days,3 months, and 8 months after im-plantation and every 6 months after the placement of the restorations. The sinus bone gain(SBG),apical bone height(ABL)and marginal bone loss(MBL)were statistically analyzed 24 months after the restoration. Results The average preoperative mucosal thickness in the 45 patients in the study group was(1.556±0.693)mm,which was significantly larger than that in the control group(1.229±0.425)mm(P<0.001).There were no perforations in either group.Twenty-four months after restoration, there was no significant difference in the SBG,ABH or MBL between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion After the extraction of teeth from patients with OMS,the inflammation of the maxillary sinus de-creased,and the bone height and density in the edentulous area were restored to a certain degree. The effects of sinus floor lifting surgery and implant restoration do not differ between patients with and without OMS.
