Selenium is one of the essential trace elements for man. A close relationship between the selenium levels and diseases of human beings exists. The determination of selenium may provide a valuable index in prevention and treatment of human diseases. 3 quantitative control diagrams are used as means of method examination in determination fo selenium. The role of control diagram in determination procedure is discussed.

An increasing number of young patients who suffer from endometrial carcinoma (atypical hyperplasia of endometrium) succeed in childbirth.However,some young patients have to receive surgery due to resistance and prognosis and so on.Here we make a brief revicw of the failure-related issues and subsequent treatment of young patients of endometrial carcinomas (atypical hyperplasia of endometrium) who fail in conservative treatments.

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics, pathological and biochemical featur es of paraneoplastic syndromes (PNS) of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods The clinical data of 624 HCC patients (the ratio of male to female 5.3∶1) ident ified by pathology were retrospectively reviewed. Results Among the patients with HCC, 32.2% (201/624) had PNS, the ratio of male to femal e was 4.6∶1. PNS mainly manifested as six clinical abnormalities: hyperchol esterol emia (15.9%), hypoglycemia(8.2%), thrombocytosis(7.7%), leucocytosis(4.8%), eryt hrocytosis(3.4%), hypercalcemia (1.0%). The carcinoma of PNS originated in multi si tes, they mainly located at the right lobe of liver, whilst 47.5% of patients wi th PNS were involved in two lobes. BACKGROUND: From yiyiren oil is extracted kanglaite injection that has been extensively used against lung cancer for its function against cancer. It is revealed that kanglaite injection inhibits many strains of cancer cells including LA795 metastatic lung cancer. Genechip is used here for detection of metastasis reactive differentially expressed genes in mice that carry LA795 metastatic lung cancer.OBJECTIVE: To detect the metastasis reactive diferentially expressed genes with genechip technology in metastatic cancer carrying mice that treated with y iyiren oil injection(kanglaite injection).DESIGN: It was a controlled trial with mice as subjects.SETTING: Oncology Department of Xiyuan Hospital Affiliated to China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine.MATERIALS: The trial was conducted from February through August 2003. Forty mice were implanted with T739 strain lung adenocarcinoma cells and were randomly and averagely assigned into 2 groups.METHODS: mRNA probe was made from cancer sample of the mice. ScanArray 3000 scanner was used to scan the fluorescence signal in cDNA expression genechip that contained 4096 mouse genes in order to detect the differentially expressed genes.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The differentially expressed genes in the two groups of mice.RESULTS: The mice genes expressed differentially between the kanglaite injection group and control group. After examination being repeated for 3 times, 27 genes presented different expression; 25 genes expression increased in both groups and 2 genes decreased. Among these differentially expressed genes, 12 genes were of the mouse muscle cDNA. It was also observed that 6 genes might be associated with the occurrence and development of tumor.CONCLUSION: Gene expression spectrum genechip is useful in effectively detect the relevent differentially expressed gene induced by kanglaite injection.

Objective Effects of hepatocellular carcinoma of antisense insulin like growth factor Ⅱ (antisense IGF Ⅱ) combined with muramyl dipeptide (MDP) was studied. Methods A cDNA fragment of human IGF Ⅱ was synthesized and inserted into a eukaryotic expression vector of pcDNA 3 (antisense IGF Ⅱ ). Antisense IGF Ⅱ and MDP encapsulated with liposomes were introduced into HepG 2 human hepatocellular carcinoma cells and were injected into subcutaneous tumors generated in nude mice. The growth of HepG 2 cells transfected with antisense IGF Ⅱ and MDP, and the subcutaneous tumors injected with antisense IGF Ⅱ and MDP were observed. Results The growth of HepG 2 cells was blocked completely, and the subcutaneous tumors disappeared in two of five nude mice. Conclusions The combination therapy of antisense IGF Ⅱ and MDP is effective in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Objective:To investigate the effects of YiqiWenyangHuoxue decoction on NF-?B in the myocardial remodeling of rat with chronic heart failure(CHF).Methods:Heart failure medel was established with ? ushing dose isoproterenol in rats and cardiac hypertrophy with angiotensin Ⅱ(Ang Ⅱ) stimulation 48h in myocardial cell.The model rats and cardiocytes with CHF were treated with YiqiWenyangHuoxue decoction,then cardiac index in model rats was measured;TNF-?,IL-18 were determined by ELISA;NF-?B mRNA evaluated with RT-PCR,and protein by Western-blot.Results:Compared with the control group,TNF-?,IL-18 concentration were significantly higher,as well as NF-?B mRNA and protein levels not only in myocardial tissues but also in cardiocytes of CHF groups.But those can be attenuated by YiqiWenyangHuoxue decoction.Conclusions:NF-?B plays important roles in the myocardial remodeling of CHF;and YiqiWenyangHuoxue decoction may reverse the myocardial remodeling through blockingNF-?B.

Objective To observe the expressions of insulin-like growth factors(IGFs) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) in various kinds of liver tissues,we discussd the relationship among IGFs,PCNA and HBV-DNA integration in the process of hepatocarcinogenesis,provide some theoretical basis for the mechanism of hepatocarcinogenesis and clinical diagnosis and therapy of HCC.Methods 32 cases of HCC,32 cases of paracancerous liver tissues(PLT),12 cases of chronic active hepatitis(CAH),10 cases of fetal liver tissues(FLT) and 8 cases of normal adult liver tissues(NALT) were collected.Southern hybridization was used to detect HBV-DNA integration in various kinds of liver tissues.Then a colloid gold immunoelectron microscopic technique was used to make a systematic study on the expression and ultrastructural location of IGFs and PCNA in different liver tissues.Results The HBV-DNA integration was positively existed in 81 3%(26/32) of HCC and PLT,and 83 3%(10/12) in CAH,but the integration in NALT and FLT was no existed.PCNA was expressed by 87 5%(28/32) of HCC and 84 4%(27/32) of PLT,respectively.The postive rates of IGF-Ⅰ and IGF-ⅠR expressed by HCC were 40 6%(13/32) and 56 3%(18/32),those of IGF-Ⅰand IGF-ⅠR expressed by PLT were 50 0%(16/32) and 65 6%(21/32),respectively.The positive rates of IGF-Ⅱ and IGF-Ⅱ receptor(IGF-ⅡR) expressed by HCC were both 78 1%(25/32),and those expressed by PLT were both 81 3%(26/32).In the integration group of HBV-DNA had higher positive rates of IGF-Ⅱ and IGF-ⅡR,which were expressed by the HCC and PLT groups,than that of non-integration group of HBV-DNA(P

Objective To observe the blind area in routine gastric lavage and evaluate its significance. Methods Each of 10 healthy volunteers drank 60 ml water containing 185 MBq 99mTc. Images of mouth, esophagus and stomach of all subjects were collected from anterior position with gamma camera, and intraoral and intraesophageal radiocounts were monitored with " Region of Interesting" technique at 0, 0.5, 1,2,3 and 4 hours. Ratios of the counts at subsequent time points vs the count of 0 hour were calculated. For other 13 volunteers, 100 ml, 200 ml, 300 ml and 400 ml normal saline containing 25% compound meglucamine diatrizoate were drunk and injected into stomachs through stomach tube respectively. After that, X-ray chest films were taken at the dorsal and left lateral decubitus positions to observe the oral and e-sophageal developments. Results The images of mouths and esophagus of 10 subjects could be identified more than 4 hours after the administration of 99mTc. The ratios of oral counts and esophageal counts at 0. 5 ,1, 2, 3 and 4 hrs were 30. 7% , 10. 5% , 6. 3% , 4. 7% , 3. 7% , and 18. 6% , 4. 4% , 3. 5% , 3. 0% ,2. 7% respectively. The ratios of both oral and esophageal counts were 49. 3% , 14. 9% , 9. 8% , 7. 7% and 6.4%. When the liquid was drunk, full oral and esophageal developments could be identified. While the liquid was injected through the tube, no development was found. Conclusions Liquid drug may remain in mouth and esophagus for a long period of time after administration. Routine gastric lavage through nasogastric tube can not clean the oral and esophageal drug residues. There are oral and esophageal blind areas when routine gastric lavage is employed.

To explore the mechanism of Jianpi(splenic tonic) and Shugan(dispersing the stagnated liver-qi) prescription regulating immunity by testing the expression of the differentiation signaling transduction protein,calcineurin.Methods We prepared the Sijunzitang and Chaihushugansan prescription serum,take the Ova as antigen induction and B cell as presenting cell,intervened culturing the CD 4 +T cells for 24 hours, and then examine the expression of calcineurin by RT-PCR,Western-blotting.Results The expression of calcineurin was increased in the stimulated Th cells, and the Sijunzitang and Chaihushugansan prescription serum can reduce it significantly,the Chaihushugansan also improved the expression deficit of calcineurin.Conclusions Jianpi and Shugan prescription can regulate the balance of immunity through affecting the expression of signaling transduction proteins at the Th activation and differentiation stage,The regulating the flow of qi prescription is superiority to supplementing qi one.in treatment of the Th2-mediated autoimmune disease.
