1.Analysis of the incidence of thyroid cancer from 1988 to 2009 in Xiaoshan district, Hangzhou

Objective To investigate the incidence, characteristic distribution, and trends of thyroid cancer in Xiaoshan district, Hangzhou. Methods The thyroid cancer data were statistically analyzed using the related data of Xiaoshan from 1988 to 2009. Results During the past 20 years, the incidence of thyroid cancer was increased with an upward trend, especially in females. The incidence in females was 23.81/105 in 2009. It took the third place among all female malignancies. The ages of onset of thyroid cancers between the males and females were significantly different. The incidence of thyroid cancer in females aged 45-59 reached the highest one, being 40.26% of all the malignancies; while in males, it was increasing gradually with the age. Conclusion Thyroid cancer is becoming one of the most common malignant neoplasm in Xiaoshan. The prevention and control of the disease will be emphasized in the future.
2.Study on the Factors that Effected Loaded Dosage of Ursolic Acid Complex with Orthogonal Design and Gray Relation Analysis

OBJECTIVE:To compare the substitution between the gray relation analysis( GRA) and the orthogonal design(OD) in data processing. METHODS:Take the four factors including the molar ration of drug and cyclodextrins,the agitating time and speed,and the temperature of complexation that influenced on loaded dosage of ursolic acid complex as example to analysis with 2 kinds of methods. RESULT:The result of analysis was similar by 2 kinds of methods,the molar ration of drug and the temperature of complexation were the major influence factors. CONCLUSION:When the data cannot fit to the analysis of range of OD,GRA can be used to it.
3.Effects of progesterone on the proliferation of neural stem cells in rats with brain trauma

BACKGROUND: Brain trauma can stimulate the proliferation of neural stem cells (NSCs) to some extent, while progesterone can ameliorate the learning and memory function following brain trauma, which can also promote the neurofunctional recovery after brain trauma by stimulating the proliferation of NSCs.OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of progesterone on the proliferation of NSCs after diffuse brain injury (DBI).DESIGN: Randomized control animal experiment.SETTING: Xinxiang Medical College.MATERIALS: Forty-eight healthy male SD rats at 4-5 months with the body mass of 280-330 g were selected.METHODS: The experiment was conducted in Xinxiang Medical College from September 2004 to January 2005. Forty-eight rat models of Marmarou DBI were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups with 12 rats in each group: ①Sham-operation group: rats were cut open the scalp and then sutured.②Brain trauma group: rats were made into animal models of brain trauma.③Dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) group: rats were given intraperitoneal injection of DMSO at the same volume as progesterone group at one hour after brain trauma and then the same administration was performed daily. ④Progesterone group: rats were intraperitoneally injected with 4 mg/kg progesterone at one hour after brain trauma and then the same administration was performed daily. Rats were executed respectively at 3 and 6 days after sham operation or brain trauma operation, and hematoxylin-eosin staining was conducted to observe the morphological changes of cortical neurons in brain. The expressions of nestin in dentate gyrus and hippocampus were detected with immunohistochemical staining.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Observation of histomorphological changes of neurons and detection of the expressions of nestin in hippocampus and dentate gyrus.RESULTS: ①There was no injury in cortical neurons in the sham-operation group, while obvious neuronal injury and loss in cortex of rats were found in the 3-day and 6-day brain trauma groups, and the neuronal injury was significantly severer in brain trauma than in 3-day and 6-day progesterone groups. ②The expressions of nestin in hippocampal CA4 region or dentate gyrus of sham-operation group were in low level or little, and the expression of nestin could be seen occasionally in hippocampal CA4 region. The expressions of nestin in hippocampal CA4 region and dentate gyrus of the brain trauma group significantly increased (P < 0.05), while those in the progesterone group increased more than the brain trauma group remarkably (P < O.05).③There were no differences in neuronal injury and nestin expression between braintrauma group and DMSO group(P > 0.05).CONCLUCION: Progesterone for brain trauma may be related with its promoting effects on the proliferation of NSCs.
4.Effects of gastric bypass on carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in non-obese patients with type 2 diabetes and gastric carcinoma

Objective To observe the effects of Roux-en-Y gastrointestinal reconstruction(RYGR) on carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in non-obese patients with type 2 diabetes and gastric carcinoma.Methods Fifty seven gastric cancer cases who underwent radical distal gastrectomy were studied and among them 35 patients had Roux-en-Y gastrointestinal reconstruction (RYGR group) and 22 had Billroth-Ⅰ gastrointestinal reconstruction (B-I GR group).Both groups were subjected to the measuring of preoperative and postoperative third,sixth months values of body mass index (BMI),glycosylated hemoglobin (GHbA1c),fasting glucose (FPG),fasting insulin (Flns) and C-peptide (FC-P),oral glucose tolerance (OGTT) including 2 hour insulin (2hIns) and C-peptide (2hC-P),plasma levels of total cholesterol (TC),triglycerides (TG),high density lipoprutein (HDL-c) and low density lipoprotein (LDL-c).Result There was no significant difference between the two groups in preoperative values (P>0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in BMI values measured postoperatively (P > 0.05).In RYGR group,preoperative FPG and that of third and sixth month postoperatively was (9.3±0.9) mmol/L vs.(7.2±2.1) mmol/L vs.(7.1±0.8) mmol/L,P=0.000,GHbAlc was (9.2±1.2)% vs.(7.3±1.2)% vs.(7.2±1.1)%,P=0.000,TG was (3.21±0.88) mmol/L vs.(2.12±0.97) mmol/L vs.(2.02±0.09) mmol/L,P =0.000,TC was (6.4±1.9) mmol/L vs.(4.3±1.0) mmol/L vs.(4.1±1.0) mmol/L,P =0.000 and LDL-c was (3.61±1.05) mmol/L vs.(2.77±0.68) mmol/L vs.(2.71±0.18)mmool/L,P=0.000,2 hour glucose after OGTT(2hPG) was (17.6±2.5) mmol/L vs.(12.1±1.9) mmol/L vs.(11.6±2.3) mmol/L,P = 0.000.Levels of FIns was (98±11) pmol/L vs.(120±9)pmol/L vs.(122±8) pmol/L,P =0.000,FC-P was (0.21±0.08) mmol/L vs.(0.30±0.01) mmol/L vs.(0.30±0.01) mmol/L,P=0.000,HDL-c was (1.08±0.10) mmol/L vs.(1.61±0.34) mmol/L vs.(1.62±0.09) mmol/L,P = 0.000,2 h Ins was (410±19) pmol/L vs.(446±19) pmol/L vs.(459±18) pmol/L,P = 0.000 and 2 h C-P was (0.87±0.17) mmol/L vs.(1.22±0.14) mmol/L vs.(1.19±0.15) mmol/L,P =0.000.In B-I GR group,preoperative and third and sixth postoperative month values of GHbA1c were (9.2±1.2)% vs.(8.4±1.6)% vs.(8.3±1.1)%,P =0.046.Conclusion Roux-en-Y gastric bypass can significantly improve the metabolism of carbohydrate and lipid in non-obese patients with type 2 diabetes and gastric carcinoma,and the effects are not related with postoperative weight loss.

7.Anti-aging effect of allografting adipose-derived stem cells in rats

Objective To observe the effect of transplanting the adipose-dervived stem cells(ADSCs) on free radical metabolism and immune function of rat aging model induced by D-galactose from fasiaology perspective;to explore a new method for anti-aging. Methods The ADSCs were cultured in vitro. Thirty male SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: normal control group(A), aging model group(B) and treat group(C). Ten rats in each group. Rats in B and C groups were injected D-galactose continually into make the sub-acute aging model rats.After 8-week injections of D-galactose;R3ats in group C were injected ADSCs(3×10~6/ml) through caudal vein. After 2-week transplantions of ADSCs, T-SOD, CuZn-SOD, MDA, NO, IL-2 and spleen index levels in serums of each group were detected and compared among the three groups. Results Compared with the A group, the SOD, NO, IL-2 level and spleen index in serum in group B decreased significantly, while the contents of MDA increased significantly. Compared with group B, the SOD, NO, IL-2 level and spleen index in serum in group C had been improved, and the contents of MDA decreased significantly. Conclusion Transplanting ADSCs can improve the antioxidant ability and strengthen the cellular immune function of aging rats.Further more, it can delay the ageing procedure induced by D-galactose in rats.

9.Trends in incidence of malignant tumors in Xiaoshan District from 2015 to 2020

Objective:
To investigate the trends in incidence of malignant tumors in Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou City from 2015 to 2020, so as to provide the evidence for improving the control strategy for malignant tumors.
Methods:
Data on incidence of malignant tumors in Xiaoshan District from 2015 to 2020 were collected through Hangzhou Municipal Chronic Disease Monitoring Management System. The crude incidence, Chinese population-standardized incidence, world population-standardized incidence, cumulative incidence for 0 to 74 years, and truncated age-standardized incidence for 35 to 64 years of malignant tumors were calculated, and the trends in incidence of malignant tumors were analyzed using average annual percent change (AAPC).
Results:
The crude incidence, Chinese population-standardized incidence, world population-standardized incidence, cumulative incidence for 0 to 74 years, and truncated age-standardized incidence for 35 to 64 years of malignant tumors were 476.95/105, 333.30/105, 257.01/105, 28.30% and 425.79/105 in Xiaoshan District from 2015 to 2020, which all appeared a tendency towards a rise (AAPC=4.36%, 3.82%, 3.99%, 3.79% and 5.20%, all P<0.05). The crude incidence, Chinese population-standardized incidence, world population-standardized incidence, cumulative incidence for 0 to 74 years, and truncated age-standardized incidence for 35 to 64 years of malignant tumors were 491.47/105, 313.31/105, 251.51/105, 28.78% and 338.82/105 among men, and both the crude incidence and truncated age-standardized incidence for 35 to 64 years appeared a tendency towards a rise (AAPC=3.00% and 1.73%, both P<0.05), while the crude incidence, Chinese population-standardized incidence, world population-standardized incidence, cumulative incidence for 0 to 74 years, and truncated age-standardized incidence for 35 to 64 years of malignant tumors were 462.98/105, 348.46/105, 262.13/105, 27.74% and 504.91/105 among women, which all appeared a tendency towards a rise (AAPC=5.77%, 5.72%, 5.79%, 5.65% and 7.48%, all P<0.05). The incidence of malignant tumors appeared a tendency towards a rise with age, and the crude incidence of malignant tumors showed a tendency towards a rise among people at ages of 15 to 44 years and 45 to 64 years (AAPC=9.85% and 4.88%, both P<0.05). Lung cancer, thyroid cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer and gastric cancer were the five most common cancers, accounting for 59.63% of all malignant tumors, and the incidence of lung cancer, thyroid cancer, colorectal cancer and breast cancer all showed a tendency towards a rise (AAPC=5.90%, 13.01%, 4.60% and 4.47%, all P<0.05).
Conclusions
The incidence of malignant tumors showed a tendency towards a rise in Xiaoshan District from 2015 to 2020. The rise in the incidence of malignant tumor was higher in females than in males, and malignant tumors tended to develop at a young age. Lung cancer, thyroid cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer and gastric cancer are major malignancies that threaten human health in Xiaoshan District.
10.Trend in mortality of malignant tumors in Xiaoshan District

Objective:
To investigate the trend in mortality of malignant tumors in Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou City from 2017 to 2022, so as to provide insights into formulation of the malignant tumor control strategy.
Methods:
Data on mortality of malignant tumors in Xiaoshan District from 2017 to 2022 were collected through Hangzhou Municipal Chronic Disease Monitoring Management System, and the cause of death composition ratio and crude mortality were calculated. The mortality of malignant tumors was standardized by the population of the sixth National Population Census in China in 2010. The trend in mortality of malignant tumors were evaluated with average annual percent change (AAPC).
Results:
There were 13 301 malignant tumor deaths reported in Xiaoshan District from 2017 to 2022, accounting for 31.26% of the total cause of death and ranking the first among the causes of death. The crude mortality was 186.36/105 and standardized mortality was 106.63/105. There was no significant trend in the crude mortality of malignant tumors in Xiaoshan District from 2017 to 2022 (P>0.05), while the standardized mortality showed a tendency towards a decline (AAPC=-1.409%, P<0.05). The crude and standardized mortality of malignant tumors were higher in men than in women (241.40/105 vs. 133.37/105; 132.66/105 vs. 79.35/105; both P<0.05). There was no obvious trend in the crude mortality of malignant tumors in men (P>0.05), and the standardized mortality showed a tendency towards a decline (AAPC=-3.017%, P<0.05). While there was no obvious trend in the crude and standardized mortality of malignant tumors in women (P>0.05). The crude mortality of malignant tumors showed a tendency towards a decline among residents at ages of 15 to 44 years and 65 years and older (AAPC=-3.933% and -2.413%, both P<0.05). The crude mortality of malignant tumors was higher in men than in women among residents at ages of 0 to 14 years, 45 to 64 years and 65 years and older (all P<0.05). The five most common causes of death included lung cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, gastric cancer and pancreatic cancer, accounting for 66.96% of all malignant tumors. The crude mortality of colorectal cancer from 2017 to 2022 showed a tendency towards a rise (AAPC=2.815%, P<0.05).
Conclusions
The standardized mortality of malignant tumors showed a tendency towards a decline in Xiaoshan District from 2017 to 2022. Management of malignant tumors should be given a high priority among men at ages of 45 years and older, and lung cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, gastric cancer and pancreatic cancer were leading causes of death.
