Objective To explore whether living in rural areas may reduce the risk of atopic sensitization. Methods The standardized questionnaires were answered by the parents of 2 986 school children during 2004 to 2005. Radioallergosorbent technique-fluorescence enzyme immunoassay (RAST-FEIA) was used to determine the level of specific IgE in the serum of the children. The risk factors were analyzed by Logistic regression. Celiac disease (CD) is a chronic autoimmune gastrointestinal disorder induced by ingestion of gluten-containing foods.In the past CD was thought prevalent only in Western countries,whereas it has been found common throughout the world and increasing numbers of Chinese patients has been reported recently.However,there are still many deficiencies in management of patients with CD in China and either the diagnosis or the treatment of CD is lacking evidence-based clinical pathway.We report a case of a young woman with CD presenting with chronic diarrhea,abdominal distention,and weight loss,whose outcome was improved by following evidence-based guidelines of medical nutrition therapy.Diagnosis and treatment of the patient was analyzed with review of foreign and domestic literature to provide readers reference of the standardized nutritional intervention of CD.

ObjectiveTo understand the status and requirement of the clinical researchers in Guang’anmen Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (hereinafter referred to as Guang’anmen Hospital).MethodsSelf-filling questionnaire was used. All medical care personnel in the clinical specialty with the GCP qualification were set as respondents. The three aspects of recognition degree of clinical trials quality, initiative of participation and knowledge demand for GCP were investigated. Data were analyzed through SPSS11.5.Results 95.6% of clinical researchers considered that the course of clinical trial was legal;89.9% of clinical researchers believed that the quality of clinical trial was good. Most clinical researchers participated in the clinical trials actively (86.9%) and they considered that the trials were helpful for them to enhance research ability and to issue paper.Conclusion Clinical researchers are familiar with GCP knowledge and can participate in the clinical trials actively. They still expect to learn more.

Objective:Toprepare poly-DL-lactide-poly (PELA) microspheres encapsulating recombinant tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) adenovirus, and to investigate their effects on the proliferation of hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 cells. Methods: The microsphere was constructed by encapsulating recombinant adenovirus containing TIMP-1 in biodegradable PELA. The diameter of the microsphere, quantity of virus encapsulated, loading rate, and releasing kinetics were measured. HepG2 cells were infected with the microspheres; the infection efficiency was examined by fluorescent microscope; and the ultrastructure was observed by TEM. The expression of TIMP-1 mRNA in HepG2 cells was examined by semi-quantitative RT-PCR, and the proliferation of HepG2 cells was detected by MTT assay. Results: The microsphere encapsulating recombinant TIMP-1 adenovirus was successfully constructed, with its diameter, entrapment efficiency, and virus loading rate being 1.965, 60.0%, and 10.5×10~8/mg, respectively. About 60% of the viruses were released within 120 h, and the total releasing time was longer than 240 h. Infection with rAdTIMP-1 PELA microsphere efficiently induced TIMP-1 expression in HepG2 cells, and significantly inhibited the proliferation of HepG2 cells, with the inhibitory rate being 47%. Conclusion: PELA microsphere encapsulating recombinant TIMP-1 adenovirus can markedly inhibit the proliferation of HepG2 cells, which provides an experimental basis for the combining macromolecular chemistry and gene therapy for treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Objective To evaluate the safety and feasibility of natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery(NOTES)with current available techniques and endoscopic accessories.Methods Transgastric and transvaginal endoscopic abdominal cavity exploration were performed in 6 female pigs.A needle-knife and a ERCP scalpel were used to make an anterior gastric wall incision,and a dilating balloon to expand the passage,through which a therapeutic gastroscope was sent into the abdominal cavity to seek the target organ.Partial liver resection was performed in 2 cases.For incision closure,a clip was applied to the incision orifice or it was just given putting-aside therapy.One week later,the abdominal cavity was examined via vagina.Another week later,it was observed via other incision of the stomach.Four weeks after the operation,the pigs were sacrificed.Adhesion,injury to the organs and closure of the incision were evaluated.Results Transgastric procedures were performed 12 times and transvaginal procedures 6 times.Mean operation time via stomach was 33.4±10.9 min.and that via vagina WaS 10.1±2.5 min.All animals recovered and gained weight after the operation.The incision healed up with no obvious complications.Re-exploration showed adhesion of various degrees,no effusion,or injury to the organs were observed.Ketamine plus propofol achieved satisfactory anesthetic effect with no complications.One of the two animals which underwent liver partial resection died of disphragmatic muscle perforation.Hemarrhage occurred twice,both in the procedures via satisfied.One case developed abdominal abscess.Conclusion It Was feasible and safe to perform NOTES via transgastric and transvaginal approach to the abdominal cavity and liver resection.But development of NOTES specific instruments is essential to the procedure.
