Chinese Journal of Biochemical Pharmaceutics 2017;37(9):65-66,69
Objective To investigate the effects of Xinnaoxuemianning combined with statins on carotid atherosclerotic plaque in patients with cerebral infarction. Methods 180 cerebral infarction patients were divided into the observation group (90cases) and the control group (90cases) by random number table method. The control group was given atorvastatin calcium tablets and the observation group was given additionally Xinnaoxuemianning. The changes and prognosis of carotid atherosclerotic plaques were evaluated before and after treatment, and the incidence of adverse reactions was counted. Results There were no differences in the carotid atherosclerotic plaque, TCM syndrome score and neurological deficit severity between the two groups before treatment. After treatment, the above indexes were significantly improved, and the increasing degree of the observation group was better than that of the control group. The incidence rate of adverse reactions was lower in the observation group than that in the control group (5.56% vs.13.33%) (P<0.05). Conclusion Xinnaoxuemianning can reduce the carotid atherosclerotic plaque area and correct the unstable plaques in patients with cerebral infarction.

4.Effect of Tanshinone II A on Cytokines of Rats with Severe Acute Pancreatitis Lung Injury.
Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2015;35(11):1361-1366
OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of Tanshinone II A on severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) lung injury (ALI) rats and its possible mechanism.
METHODSSD rats were injected with sodium taurocholate to induce SAP group, and then intervened with sodium tanshinone II A sulfonate ( STS group). Simultaneously a sham-operation group (SO group) was set up. There were 24 rats in each group. The survival state and wet-to-dry weight ratio of lung tissues were observed. Activities of myeloperoxidase (MPO) in lung were determined by MPO reagent kit. Pathologic changes of lung tissues were determined by Hofbuaer method. Expression levels of three cytokines, TNF-alpha, IL-1beta, and intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) were detected by ELISA.
RESULTSThe survival state of rats in the SAP group was deteriorated. The wet-to-dry weight ratio, MPO activities, pathologic changes in lung tissues, and expression levels of TNF-alpha, IL-1beta, and ICAM-1 increased significantly more in the SAP group than in the SO group (P < 0.05). Compared with those in the SAP group, the survival state of rats in the STS group was improved; the wet-to-dry weight ratio, MPO activities, pathologic changes in lung tissues, and expression levels of TNF-alpha, IL-1beta, and ICAM-1 obviously decreased in the STS group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONTanshinone II A had remarkable effect on SPA LI rats, which might be associated with changing cytokines levels and attenuating infiltration of lung inflammatory cells.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2005;9(4):213-215
BACKGROUND:No particularly effective medicine could treat human immunodeficiency virus 1(HIV 1) associated dementia(HAD) at present, which mainly because the mechanism of HIV 1 infection induced neural damage and necrosis is still not completely clarified. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of human immunodeficiency virus I type(HIV 1) enveloped protein(EP) gp120 on the synaptic transmission and plasticity in hippocampal CA1 area of rat to clarify the mechanism of HAD generation. DESIGN:A paired design. SETTING:Department of Pathophysiology of Medical College of Jinan University. MATERIALS:The study was conducted in the Department of Pathophysiology(a tertiary national key laboratory of National Administration for Traditional Chinese Medicine, registration number: TCM 03 131) of the Medical College of Jinan University from January to October of 2003.Male SD rats aged between 2 and 5 weeks were used in the study. INTERVENTIONS:Brain slice perfusion and recording technique was employed. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:To record the excitatory postsynaptic potential(EPSP) in hippocampal CA1 area in rat;to investigate the effects of gp120 on long term potentiation(LTP) induced by high frequency electric stimulation in Schaffer lateral branch. RESULTS:gp120 had inhibitive effect on LTP in hippocampal CA1 area in rat [the average amplitude of LTP decreased from normal (216.1± 14.0) % to(90.8± 6.0) % ,n=12,P< 0.01],but had no effect on basic EPSP.PKA/PKC protein kinase(PK) inhibitor H7 could reverse this inhibitive effect [the average amplitude of LTP was(198.8± 16.2) % ,n=8,P< 0.01]. CONCLUSION:gp120 might participate the generation of HAD through inhibiting LTP in hippocampal CA1 area.

Objective To review the results of limb lengthening over an intramedullary nail in management of femoral defect and length discrepancy. Methods Femoral lengthening over an antegrade intramedullary nail was applied to treat length discrepancy of 4 to 7 cm for three cases, and femoral defects of 8 and 11 cm respectively for two cases from January 2001 to December 2003.The nail and an external fixator(Ilizarov external fixator for bone defect and Orthofix limb-reconstruction system for discrepancy)were applied concomitantly at the time of femoral osteotomy. After a mean fixation time of 16.2 days(13 to 24 days),gradual distraction began at a rate of 0.25 millimeter four times a day. When the managed femur reached the expected length, the nail was locked and the fixator was removed in patients with length discrepancy. The procedure was not finished in patients with bone defects until bony consolidation was partially seen. Results All the patients were followed up for a mean time of 36.4 months(range,22 to 47 months). The mean gain in length was 7.2 cm(range,4 to 10 cm)with good consoli- dation, the mean duration of external fixation was 5 months(range,3 to 8 months),and the mean external fixation index was 0.75 month per centimeter(range,0.57 to 1.00 month per centimeter).Neither axial deviation nor re-fracture occurred. At the last follow-up,the mean range of movement of knee was 107?(80?to 135?).Con- clusions In management of defect and length discrepancy of limbs, lengthening over an intramedullary nail has the advantages of short duration of external fixation, good protection against refracture, and earlier rehabilitation of knee joint,as well as disadvantages of long operation time, massive intraoperative bleeding, high cost and much post- operative scarring.
