Objective To study the HLA-DRB1 genotype and their r elation with HBV infection among Han patients in shanxi area. Methods HLA-DRB1 genotyping was conducted in 54 patients HBV infection and 108 health controls, as well as 32 asymtomatic HBsAg carriers by using polymerase ch ain reaction/sequence specific primer (PCR-SSP) method. All the patients, asy mtomatic HBsAg carriers, and healthy subjects were inhabitants of Shan'xi area o f Han nationality. The association between HLA-DRB1 genotype and different repl ication of HBV were also studied. Results DRB1*04,DRB1*09,DRB 1*12, DRB1*15 were the most common genotypes in the Shan'xi Han inbabitants wit h the frequency of 16.2%,12.5%,11.6% and 13.4% respectively. Compared to 108 healthy controls, the allele frequency of HLA-DRB1*03 was 11.1% in HBV patien ts versus 3.7% in healthy controls, with odds ratio=3.57 and Pc=0.014 ( P

Objective To study the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of functional delayed gastric emptying(FDGE) resulting from pancreatoduodenectomy. Methods From June,1990~June,2003,136 patients received pancreatoduodenectomy, whose clinical data were retrospectively analyzed.Upper gastrointestinal(radiography) and endoscopy were the main methods of examination. Results Twenty-eight cases were(complicated) with FDGE in the 136 patients(20.6%) after operation. The occurrence of FDGE was(correlated) with hyperbilirubinemia, diabetes, duodenal obstruction, pancreatic fistula and abdominal infection. All patients were cured with conservative treatment. The recovery time of gastric motility was 14-42 days, average time was 28 days. Conclusions Hyperbilirubinemia, diabetes, duodenal obstruction, pancreatic(fistula) and abdominal infection were the main causes of FDGE.

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and outcomes of percutaneous cholecystostomy(PC) under type-B ultrasonic guide as an alternative treatment option for critically ill patients of acute cholecystitis. Methods The clinical data of 53 high-risk patients of acute cholecystitis were retrospectively analyzed, who received PC from January 1999 to August 2005.Results All cases were successfully punctured and intubated, and 4 received reoperation because of blocked tube or fall-off.Fifty-two(97.3%) gained bile drainage effectively. No complications occurred due to the procedures in the cholecystostomy and intubation. One patient required emergency cholecystectomy on day 1 after the procedures because of deteriorating conditions.Forty-one accepted selective cholecystectomy in 2 weeks to 3 months after cholecystostomy. The follow-up period was 6 months to 3 years. Conclusion PC is an effective, convenient and safe method in managing acute cholecystitis in high-risk patients, with high achievement ratio and less complications.

Neurofeedback, as an alternative treatment method of behavioral medicine, is a technique which translates the electroencephalogram (EEG) signals to styles as sounds or animation to help people understand their own physical status and learn to enhance or suppress certain EEG signals to regulate their own brain functions after several repeated trainings. This paper develops a neurofeedback system on the foundation of brain-computer interface technique. The EEG features are extracted through real-time signal process and then translated to feedback information. Two feedback screens are designed for relaxation training and attention training individually. The veracity and feasibility of the neurofeedback system are validated through system simulation and preliminary experiment.

Objective To improve the understandazation of manifestation of lung metastases and awareness of characteristics. Methods 21 cases of lung metastases were collected by the clinical diagnosis during Jan 2005 to Dec 2008, and its manifestation of chest X -ray and CT imaging was analysed to explore the characteristics. Results The chest X - ray was a conventional method for lung metastases .CT, especially HRCT, can provide more comprehensive and accurate image information. 21 cases of lung metastases included 17 cases of hematogenic metastasis, accounting for 80% , 2 cases of lymphatic metastasis and 2 cases of direct metastasis, each accounting for 10% . Primary tumor + lung typical manifestation can help to make more precise diagnosis. Conclusion Chest X - ray and CT are an important for lung metastases in the clinical diagnosis, treatment, program settings, and efficacy of assessment.

The mechanisms leading to the occurrence of seizures in humans are still poorly understood. It is widely accepted, however, that the process of seizure generation is closely associated with an abnormal synchronization of neurons. In order to investigate this process, we have studied synchronization between different regions of the brain from intracranial EEG recordings of Pilocarpine-induced epileptic rat by Synchronization likelihood (SL). It was found that during the state of transition from non-epileptiform discharges to continuous-epileptiform discharges, synchronization between left-ECoG and left-EHG was significantly strengthened, and similar change had taken place between right-ECoG and right-EHGd; left-ECoG; and right-ECoG and left-EHG and right-EHG (P < 0.05). During the state of transition from continuous-epileptiform discharges to period-epileptiform discharges, the synchronization was significantly weakened between left-ECoG and left-EHG, and similar change was noted between left-EHG and right-EHG (P < 0.01). The results showed that SL might be used to assess the dynamics of synchronization and it might be helpful to understanding the mechanisms involving the origin of epileptiform discharge.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2008;25(2):255-258
Detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) is a new technique used to characterize the long-range temporal correlation (LRTC) structure of non-stationary time series, which has been applied in electroencephalographic (EEG) oscillations and diseases such as Alzheimer and stroke. In this paper, DFA is used to study the scaling exponents of intracranial EEG recordings of Pilocarpine-induced epileptic rat. It was found that when the brain functional status changed from non-epileptiform discharges to continuous-epileptiform discharges and to period-epileptiform discharges, the average scaling exponents of four brain regions (left cortex and left hippocampus, right cortex and right hippocampus) changed from 0.97 to 0.82 and to 0.94, and a statistically significant difference between the brain functional states was shown by paired T test (P < 0.05), thus suggesting that the local neuronal network dynamics of the three brain function states may be different. But in regard to the three brain function states, there is no statistically significant difference between the four brain regions(P >0.05).

The purpose of this study is to develop a new method of producing tienchi seng (notoginseng, Panax notoginseng) extracts featuring high concentrations of the ginsenoside Rg3, Rg5, and Rg6, special components of Korean red ginseng. The chemical transformation from ginseng saponin glycosides to prosapogenin was analyzed by HPLC. Tienchi seng was heat-processed at 100 o C and the optimum conditions were identified. The highest concentrations of total saponin (29.723%) and the ginsenoside Rg3 (1.769%), Rg5 (5.979%), and Rg6 (13.473%) were produced at 48 hours. Also, when tienchi seng was subjected to the ultrasonic thermal fusion (100 o C) process, the concentrations of total saponin (30.578%), ginsenoside Rg3 (2.392%), Rg5 (6.614%), and Rg6 (13.017%) were highest at 36 hours. On the other hand, the 2-hour heat-processed extract and 2-hour ultrasonic thermal fusion-processed extract did not contain ginsenoside Rg3, Rg5, and Rg6. The ultrasonic thermal fusion process had an extraction yield that was approximately 1.26 times greater than that of the heat process. These results indicate that the highly functional tienchi seng extracts created through the ultrasonic thermal fusion process are more industrially useful than those produced using the heat process.
