Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(01):-
The effects of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) on the arachidonic acid(AA) metabolism were examined by incubating separately washed human platelets and human umbilical artery rings with labelled AA. The results are as follows:1.Both EPA and DHA reduced the formations of TXB2 in platelets and 6-keto-PGF1a in artery walls in dose-dependent way.2.The effect of EPA on the synthesis of HETE by platelets was different with the concentrations of EPA. At lower concentration (62.5?M), it increased the formation of HETE, but the degree of increase was lowerd when the concentration of EPA was increased further, and even reduced the formation of HETE when its concentration reached 1000?M although the decrease extent was statistically insignificant.3.At all of concentrations used but 62.5?M, DHA raised potently the formation of HETE by platelets in dose-dependent way.A brief discussion was made about our results with special references to former data reported.

BACKGROUND: Currently, acid etching and bonding technology have been widely used in clinical stomatology. Data have indicated that the main content of inorganic elements (calcium and phosphorus) has a certain difference between the dental enamel and dentin of the young and adult permanent teeth. OBJECTIVE:To measure the content of main inorganic elements, calcium and phosphorus, in the dental enamel and dentin from young and adult permanent teeth with spectrophotometry and ethylene diamine tetraacetie acid titration method. METHODS:Each 20 adult and young permanent teethin vitrowere selected. Plaster stone and water was mixed; when it was nearly dried, the teeth were verticaly cast in the mixture and the tooth surface was exposed. The models were cut into the slices using syj-200 precision cutting machine, and then the slices were put into nitric acid and dissolved through heater to prepare standard solution. At last, the concentrations of calcium and phosphorus in the hard tissue of both young and adult permanent teeth were measured with spectrophotometric method and titration method. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The content of calcium and phosphorus and calcium/phosphorus ratio in the hard tissue of young permanent teeth were less than those of adult permanent teeth (P < 0.05), reflecting that the organic matter content was more than that in adult permanent teeth, but their mineralized degree was inferior to that of adult permanent teeth (P < 0.05). These findings indicate that the young permanent teeth are more acid proof than the adult permanent teeth; therefore, the acid etching time can be properly prolonged for young permanent teeth in clinical treatment, in order to achieve better effects.

Objective To explore the use of antithymocyte globulin in peripheral blood stem cell transplantation from HLA-identical sibling donors. Methods Fifty-seven adults with hematological malignancy were treated with a first myeloablative matched related donor peripheral blood stem cell transplantation with pretransplantation of ATG. All patients received modified Bu/cy conditioning regimen or Cy/TBI conditioning regimen. GVHD prophylaxis protocol included Rabbit ATG (thymoglobulin, genzyme),Cyclosporin A, methotrexate and mycophenolate mofetil. Results All patients underwent engraftment with neutrophils and platelets. Incidence of aGVHD was 36.8 %. Gades Ⅰ - Ⅱ was observed in 31.6 %. Grade Ⅲ was 5.2 %. Grade Ⅳ was not seen. Incidence of cGVHD was 33.3 %, including two extensive cGVHD cases.Infection had occurred in twenty-two patients during transplantation. Twenty-nine (50.9 %) patients occurred CMV reactivation. The 5-year estimated OS is 71.35 %. The 5-year estimated DFS is 68.61%. Conclusion Pretransplantation with low dose ATG given to recipients undergoing MRD PBCT may result in less aGVHD and cGVHD. No cases of posttransplantation lymphoproliferative disease was observed. Significant morbidity and mortality from opportunistic infection were not seen. Relapse remains a problem among high-risk patients.
