Pituitary adenoma, a benign intracranial tumor, is the third most common brain tumor, second only to glioma and me-ningioma. Pituitary adenoma has been defined as a benign tumor, but some pituitary adenomas can invade the surrounding tissue. This tumor is difficult to resect and can easily recur after surgery. RWD-containing sumoylation enhancer (RSUME) can stabilize the activity of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α and inhibitor kappaB by the small ubiquitin-related modifiers. This phenomenon indicates the impor-tance of RSUME in pituitary adenoma because it promotes the invasiveness of the tumor. However, the correlation between RSUME and the invasion of pituitary adenoma remains unclear. In this study, the roles of RSUME on HIF-1α/VEGF signaling pathway and IκB/NF-κB compomers in the invasiveness of pituitary adenoma were reviewed.

Objective To evaluate the outcome of primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in treatment of stiff knee, and discuss the key points of operative technique and rehabilitation. Methods From February 2005 to April 2009, 23 patients with 34 stiff knees were treated with primary TKA. The study included 3 males (4 knees) and 20 females (30 knees), with the mean age of 56.9 years. Primary disease of the patients included rheumatoid arthritis (26 knees in 15 cases) and osteoarthritis (8 knees in 8 cases). Varus deformity was found in 10 knees (5°-15°), and valgus was found in 5 knees (5°-10°). Evaluations included preoperative and postoperative range of motion (ROM) measurement, hospital for special surgery knee score (HSS), blood loss, operative time and assessment of postoperative complications. Results All patients were followed up. The mean follow-up time was 32.2 (range, 24 to 40) months. At the final follow-up visit, the HSS score increased from 42.9±5.2 preoperatively to 85.7±4.3, the range of motion increased from 42.6°±5.7° preoperatively to 89.2°±10.5°. Sixteen knees in 12 cases underwent manipulation at 3 to 8 weeks postoperatively for unsatisfied ROM, but ROM was still less than 90° in 8 knees at the last follow-up. The average blood loss were (632.4±180.2) ml in first 24 hours (450-850 ml) and the operative time were (98.1±18.6) min (80-150 min). Deep venous thrombosis was found in 3 patients. All the symptoms relieved after anticoagulant therapy. Postoperative varus deformity was seen in one patient, but the function of knee was good. No revision was needed. Conclusion Primary total knee arthroplasty is reliable method in treatment of stiff knees. Sufficient soft tissue release during the operation, postoperative muscle strength exercise and essential manipulation are key points for satisfactory outcomes.

Objective:To explore the effect of postoperative stent placement time on flexible ureteroscopy lithotripsy (FURL) in the treatment of kidney calculi. Methods:A retrospective analysis of 126 patients with kidney calculi admitted to Guangyuan Central Hospital from April 2017 to November 2018. All patients were treated with FURL. The patients were divided into two groups according to the time of stent placement after FURL: conventional tube placement group ( n=91) and short-term tube placement group ( n=35). The postoperative stent placement time of patients in the conventional tube placement group was 4 weeks, and the postoperative stent placement time of patients in the short-term tube placement group was 2 weeks. The postoperative outcome indicators (hospitalization time and stone-free rate), postoperative complication indicators (postoperative hematuria, renal hematoma, urinary tract infection and fever) and postoperative pain were compared between the two groups. The measurement data was expressed as mean±standard deviation ( Mean± SD), and the Student′s t test was used for comparison between groups; the Chi-square test was used for comparison between counting data. Results:There were not significant differences in hospitalization time [(7.22±1.02) d vs (7.26±1.22) d], stone-free rate 1 month after surgery (84.6% vs 82.8%), stone-free rate 2 month after surgery (93.4% vs 88.5%), postoperative hematuria (10.9% vs 11.4%), renal hematoma (3.3% vs 0) and fever (2.2% vs 0) between the conventional tube placement group and short-term tube placement group ( P>0.05). Compared with the conventional tube placement group, the short-term tube group had lower urinary tract infection rates (17.6% vs 2.9%), the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). There was not significant difference in the average use rate of opioids [(1.05±0.45) vs (1.00±0.50), P>0.05], acetaminophen and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) [(1.52±0.55) vs (1.45±0.45), P>0.05] between the two groups during hospitalization. There was not statistically significant difference in the incidence of abdominal pain after discharge from the hospital [(1.25±0.55) vs (1.15±0.45)]. The number of applications of acetaminophen and NSAIDs in the conventional tube placement group was greater than that in the short-term tube placement group [(1.45±0.46) vs (1.25±0.30)] after one month, the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). Conclusions:Short-term tube placement after renal FURL surgery is as effective as traditional long-term stenting, achieving the same stone-free effect and reducing early postoperative complications. For the reduction of postoperative infection and postoperative pain, short-term stenting has certain advantages.

The valaciclovir was used as the model drug, the bovine serum albumin nanoparticles (BSA-NP) were prepared by desolvation process. Glycyrrhizin (GL) was oxidized by sodium periodate to be conjugated to surface reactive amino groups (SRAG) of the VACV-BSA-NP. Gel filtration method combined with HPLC method verified that GL was covalent coupling to the surface of VACV-BSA-NP with mean 9 GL residues per albumin molecule. The mean diameter of the VACV-BSA-NP-GL was 268 +/- 23 nm, the drug loading was 1.35%, and embedding ratio was 68.76%. The characteristics of release in vitro were in accord with two-phase kinetics. The uptake amount of VACV-BSA-NP-GL by primary cultured rat hepatocytes in vitro was higher, compared to the control-VACV-BSA-NP. 69.89% and 64.82% of the VACV were concentrated in liver at 15 min after i.v. VACV-BSA-NP-GL and VACV-BSA-NP, respectively. There is a significant difference between surface-modified group and control group (P<0.10). VACV-BSA-NP-GL was successfully prepared, which is considered to be a novel drug delivery system for targeting to hepatocytes.

We analyzed the whole genome coding sequence of Volvariella volvacea to study the pattern utilization of codons by Codon W 1.4.2. As results, 24 optimal codons were identified. Moreover, the frequency of codons usage was calculated by CUSP program. We compared the frequency of codons usage of V. volvacea with other organisms including 6 modal value species (Homo sapiens, Saccharomys cerevisiae, Arabidopsis thalian, Mus musculus, Danio rerio and Drosophila melanogaster) and 4 edible fungi (Coprinopsis cinerea, Agaricus bisporus, Lentinula edodes and Pleurotus ostreatus). We found that there were less differences in 3 edible fungi (excluding Pleurotus ostreatus) than 6 modal value species, comparing with the frequency of codons usage of V. volvacea. With software SPSS16.0, cluster analysis which showed differences in the size of codon bias, reflects the evolutionary relationships between species, which can be used as a reference of evolutionary relationships of species. This was the first time for analysis the codon preference among the whole coding sequences of edible fungi, serving as theoretical basis to apply genetic engineering of V. volvacea.
