Journal of Third Military Medical University 2003;0(10):-
Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of transplantation of limbal epithelial cells and decellularized porcine cornea construct in rabbits with corneal alkali burn. Methods Allogeneic rabbit limbal epithelial cells were cultured and identified.Porcine cornea scaffold was fabricated by decellularization. The LECs-DPC construct was cultured and transplanted to the alkali-burned corneal surface of rabbits(4month follow-up).Results Immunocytochemistry and RT-PCR analyses revealed the presence of ABCG2 positive limbal stem cells.A general view showed the corneas were clear and vessel-free postoperatively.HE and Masson Trichrome staining results indicated the epithelial stratification, fewer cellular infiltration,DPC' integration into host corneal tissues, and more regular collagen configuration.Transmission electron microscopy exhibited formation of desmosomes and microvilli. Conclusion Allogeneic limbal epithelial cells transplantation using DPC as a carrier can restore corneal clarity after alkali burn in a rabbit model.

Choroidal thickness and its relevance with retinal disease has been widely studied in recent years,as choroid is an important source of retina blood supply.Diabetic retinopathy (DR) studies have been focused on retinal vascular injury and related circulatory disorders for a long time, however recent studies have found that choroidal blood vessels are also affected by diabetes, including the thickness changes. The choroidal thickness of diabetic patients is thinner than normal. There is no conclusive conclusion about choroidal thickness and the severity of DR lesions,as the choroid thickness results are determined by multiple factors, including diseases, ocular conditions (choroidal vascular status, ocular axial length, refractory errors and other eye parameters),systemic factors (age and sex) and measurement methods. Therefore,it is necessary to calibrate the ocular and extra-ocular factors affecting choroidal thickness when trying to further clarify the relationship between the choroidal thickness and DR.

Objective To evaluate the value of ultrasonic elastography for diagnosis of chronic nonspecific low back pain. Methods From March to September, 2016, 32 patients diagnosed as chronic nonspecific low back pain and other 32 healthy people (controls) were measured lumbar erector spinae with ultrasonic elastography, and calculated Yang's modulus. The correlation between Yang's modulus and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) or Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score in the patients were investigated with Pearson's analysis. Re-sults There was no significant difference in Yang's modulus between bilateral lumbar erector spinae in both the patients and the controls (t<1.849, P>0.05), but it was more in the patients than in the controls (t=9.931, P<0.001). The Yang's modulus was positively correlated with VAS score in the patients (r=0.614, P<0.001), but not with the JOA score (r=-0.243, P=0.180). Conclusion Ultrasonic elastography can be applied to differentiate low back pain from the healthy, and measure the intensity of pain.

Objective To assess the feasibility of ~(18)F-FDG PET/CT for differentiation of malignancy from benign in pericardial Lesions. Methods ~(18)F-FDG PET/CT data of 16 patients with pericardial lesions (9 malignancy, 7 benign) were analyzed using maximum standard uptake values (SUV_(max)) and the density of lesions, the relationship with surrounding tissues were also evaluated. The results of malignancy or benign were proved by needle biopsy. Results SUV_(max) of malignancy (10.1±6.0) and benign (3.0±2.1) was significant different (P<0.01). Taking the optimal cut-off value as SUV_(max) 3.5-4.5, the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of differentiation of malignant from benign in pericardial lesions was 100%, 85.71%, 93.75%, 90.00% and 100%, respectively. Conclusion ~(18)F-FDG PET/CT can predict benign or malignance of pericardial lesions with moderate accuracy.

During 131Ⅰ therapy or the natural course of DTC,2% to 5% of them will gradually no longer be sensitive to 131Ⅰ therapy and lead to radioactive iodine-refractory DTC (RAIR-DTC).Recent studies found that alterations of critical molecular targets in main signal transduction pathways could decrease the iodine-trapping function of thyroid carcinoma, such as BRAFV600E mutation, followed by negative 131 Ⅰ-whole body scan (WBS) and discounted efficacy. This article reviews novel diagnostic and therapeutic modalities for RAIR-DTC.
