Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(02):-
Five iron nutritional resources were chemically determined for twelve nutrients and three deleterious items. It was found that they contained 36 to 432 mg% iron and 48 to 67 g% protein. The relative biological value (RBV) of iron of rabbit liver powder, poultry liver powder, fish liver powder, pig liver powder and yeast powder were 88.5%, 85.5%, 48.0% and 132.5% respectively, as measured by prophylactic assay in rats (using ferrous sulfate as reference standard). Most of these resources are common foods, thus these must be of no trouble for infant iron supplements and easily acceptable for their mothers.

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(02):-
135 children, aged 18-36 months, were selected from two nurseries and divided into 3 groups. To children in group A, Fe-enriched yeast fortified "Bao Bao Le" formula powder (40+5g per capita per day) was given instead of soybean milk and soybean curd in the ordinary nursery diet. Unfortified "Bao Bao Le" was given to group B as another test food. Children in group C, serving as control, were given ordinary nursery diet. This experiment lasted for three months. Dietary survey, Hb, FEP, SF, serum uric acid concentration, vitamin B2 and C loading tests (4 h) , and anthropometric measurements were determined before and after the experiment. No statistically significant differences were observed in nutrient intake, vitamin loading tests and serum uric acid (seeking for nuclecic acid metabolite) in each group before and after the experiment. At the end of the experiment, changes of Hb, FEP, SF concentration and FEP/Hb indicated that iron status of children in group A was much better than that in groups B and C, with no significant differences between the latter groups. Weight gain and height increment of children in group C were much less than those in groups A and B, with no significant differences between the latter groups too. Therefore we conclude that the improvement of iron status in group A is due to the effect of Fe-enriched yeast contained in the fortified "Bao Bao Le" formula powder.

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(01):-
The study was conducted in vitro with human breast cancer cells BCaP-37, to determine the effects of selenium, vitamin A, vitamin E and a combination of these three nutrients on cell proliferation and cellular nucleic acid content. Selenium as sodium selenite had two phases of effect on cancer cell proliferation: the low concentrations of selenium (less than 5 ?M) stimulated cell growth and increased the cellular nucleic acid content; the high concentrations (more than 5 ?M) depressed cell growth and reduced the cellular nucleic acid content with dose-dependence. Vitamin A acetate inhibited cancer cell growth significantly, but vitamin A acid inhibited to some extent, and was less effective than vitamin A acetate. Vitamin E had less inhibitory effect compared to vitamin A acetate and the inhibitory percentages were lower than 40% in all treatment groups. Combination of selenium (5 ?M) and vitamin E (20mg/L) or selenium and vitamin A acetate (2mg/L), no synergism for the reduction of the contents of cellular nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) were observed. The combination of selenium, vitamin A acetate and vitamin E at such levels reduced cellular DNA and RNA contents obviously; RNA content was significantly lower than any other treatment group and was reduced synergis-tically. It was indicated that the combination of selenium, vitamin A acetate, vitamin E was synergistic for inhibition of cell proliferation. Results also showed the reversible tendency in the inhibition of cell proliferation by combination of these three nutrients. It was suggested that combination of selenium, vitamin A and E might be benificial for the prevention and adjuvant treatment of human breast cancer.

Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2015;38(10):714-716
Objective To explore the clinical effect of nasal endoscope antrostomy treatment of maxillary sinus cyst through two approaches. Methods Eighty patients with maxillary sinus cyst were selected. The patients were divided into experiment group and control group according to the treatment method. Experiment group (40 cases) was treated through windowing middle meatus maxillary sinus associated with antrostomy of inferior nasal meatus approach. Control group (40 cases) was treated through antrostomy of inferior nasal meatus approach. On the basis of the review, the local state of the nasal endoscope and the CT examination of the sinus and the nasal sinuses, the patients were evaluated comprehensively. Results The recovery rate in experiment group was significantly higher than that in control group:97.5%(39/40) vs. 77.5% (31/40), and the complication rate in experiment group was significantly lower than that in control group:10.0%(4/40) vs. 35.0%(14/40). And there were statistical differences ( P<0.01). Conclusions The approach of windowing middle meatus maxillary sinus associated with antrostomy of inferior nasal meatus in the treatment of maxillary sinus cyst in nasal endoscope has wide field and no dead ends. Moreover, the lesions can be cleared completely. The procedure can reduce the recurrence. The complication rate is lower than the antrostomy of inferior nasal meatus approach.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2014;28(16):1212-1214
OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the treatment outcome of patients with idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSHL) with concomitant benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).
METHOD:
Out of 252 ISSHL patients, 96 patients were diagnosed with complicating vertigo and examined using electronystagmography. All patients were divided into three groups, namely, ISSHL without vertigo group (n=156), ISSHL with non-BPPV vertigo group (n=70) and ISSHL with BPPV group (n=26). All patients received daily intravenous infusion of 200,000 U urokinase for 3 consecutive days and 100,000 U for 3 additional days. Concomitant medications included intravenous Ginkgo biloba leave compound and vitamin B6 and intramuscular vitamins B1 and B12 for 2 weeks. Twenty-six patients diagnosed with BPPV on electronystagmography positioning test also received canalith repositioning maneuver.
RESULT:
Vertigo-associated symptoms completely resolved after canalith repositioning maneuver in ISSHL patients with complicating BPPV. With respect to post-treatment hearing, ISSHL patients without vertigo exhibited a similar improvement as compared to those with BPPV, while those with non-BPPV vertigo had a significantly less improvement than those without vertigo and with BPPV.
CONCLUSION
ISSHL patients with complicating BPPV exhibit a relatively favorable outcome with respect to hearing and vertigo-associated symptoms after medical and repositioning treatment.

Journal of Audiology and Speech Pathology 2016;24(4):347-350
Objective To investigate the prevalence of BPPV in patients with Meniere’s Disease(MD),and to investigate the diagnostic and predictive values of VEMP in patients with MD and BPPV.Methods A total of 1 1 6 patients previously diagnosed MD were followed up through telephone about their BPPV-like attacks. We recorded the detailed history of BPPV-like attacks, and provided them with complete Dix-Hallpike and roll tests if patients were on their BPPV-like attacks. Results In all,4 patients'histories supported BPPV,and 4 patients were found with BPPV.The prevalence of BPPV in patients with MD was 3 .4%(4/1 1 6 ).Meniere's symptoms preceded the on-set of BPPV in 8 patients. In 4 confirmed BPPV patients with Meniere's disease,BPPV was limited to the same ear as the MD in 2 cases, and 1 had contralateral BPPV,and 1 was uncertain.Six histories supported or confirmed BP-PVpatients with high abnormal oVEMP rates (5/6).Four in this 5 (80%)had abnormal oVEMP of the same MD ear.The single repositioning procedures can improve vertigo and eliminated positional nystagmus in cases of BPPV associated with MD.Conclusion In the present study, the prevalence of BPPV in patients with MD was 3 .45%.De-tailed medical histories combined with Dix-Hallpike and roll tests and VEMP tests can identify BPPV in patients with MD.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2015;29(22):1963-1969
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the clinical characteristics and prognosis of patients with idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSHL) with vertigo.
METHOD:
By analyzing the clinical data of 271 ISSHL patients, they were divided into without vertigo group (n = 169) and vertigo group (n = 102). In vertigo group, 34 cases were patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) secondary to the ISSHL. All patients received conventional treatment. According to the types of BPPV, patients with secondary BPPV received Epley maneuver or Barbecue roll maneuver. By analyzing the results of the pure tone audiometry test and treatment outcomes of the patients, we summarized the clinical characteristics of ISSHL patients with vertigo.
RESULT:
The audiometric curves of ISSHL with vertigo group were mainly at high frequency. The degrees of hearing loss of these patients were severe and profound. After treatment, the improvement of hearing threshold for ISSHL with vertigo group was lower than that for ISSHL without vertigo group. What's more, the rate of recovery, success and total effective of audition for ISSHL with vertigo group was also obviously lower than that for ISSHL without vertigo group. Of all the patients with BPPV, 27 cases of posterior semicircular canal and 7 cases of lateral semicircular canal were identified. All patients with BPPV were diagnosed as the same ears as the ISSHL.
CONCLUSION
ISSHL with vertigo group lost hearing more severely than ISSHL without vertigo group. Also, the improvement of hearing and the effective after treatment were really poor. The symptoms of ISSHL with BPPV group improved and eased significantly than that of ISSHL without BPPV group. The major of BPPV secondary to the ISSHL occurs in the posterior semicircular canal. The canalith repositioning is an effective therapy to the secondary BPPV.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2016;30(5):383-385
OBJECTIVE:
To analyze the abnormal conditions of the affected ear and the contralateral ear of patients with unilateral Meniere's disease and the prevalence of bilateral abnormalities among these unilateral Meniere disease population, providing reference for the clinical treatment strategies for Meniére disease.
METHOD:
A retrospective analysis of 106 Meni6re disease cases was performed, the abnormal incidence of the affected ears, the contralateral ears and the bilateral abnormalities were calculated, and the disease characteristics were analyzed.
RESULT:
The bilateral ears abnormal incidence of unilateral Meniére disease was 35. 85% (38/106); the cochlear symptoms of the contralateral ears often occurred 2. 25 years later of the symptoms of Meni6re disease; contralateral cochlear symptoms included at least two symptoms of tinnitus, deafness and ear fullness; 39. 47%(15/38) patients with bilateral abnormalities would appear binaural hearing impairment.
CONCLUSION
This study showed that about one-third of unilateral Meniére diseases have binaural symptoms, among which about one-third would occur bilateral hearing loss. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the course of disease and the symptoms of the contralateral ear before taking damage or destructive method for treating Meniére's disease clinically.
