OBJECTIVE To investigate the protective effect of Codonopsis Pilosula Polysaccharide (CPPS) on improving of the memory consolidation disorder induced by Cycloheximide and its possible mechanisms in mice. METHODS The mice was divided into five groups, as normal control group, cycloheximid model group, piracetam positive control group, CPPS 300 mg · kg- 1 group, and CPPS 150 mg·kg-1 group. The mice respectively were given saline, piracetam, and CPPS for 15 d. The memory consolidation disorder model in mice was established by ip. Cyclohexylamine, and orally administered CPPS(300 mg·kg-1 or 150 mg·kg-1) every day. Then experimental groups were subjected Morris Water Maze test. Western blotting analysis were used to analysis the expression of CaMKⅡ/CREB signaling pathways. RESULTS Morris water maze experiment showed that cyclohexylamine can cause memory consolidation disorder(P<0.01), and giving piracetam and CPPS (300 mg · kg- 1) can improve spatial memory impairment in mice(P<0.05, P<0.01). Western blotting experiment results show that compared with normal control group, CaMKⅡ and CREB contents of brain in model group mice had significant decreased(P<0.001); Compared with model group, CaMK Ⅱ and CREB contents of brain tissue in piracetam and CPPS groups increased significantly(P<0.05,P<0.01,P<0.001). CONCLUSION Cyclo?heximide can induce the memory consolidation disorder, and its effect in mice related to CaMK/CREB signaling pathways. CPPS can improved this memory disorder by influence CaMKⅡ/CREB signaling pathways.

Studies of biological feedback (BF) for the treatment of chronic prostatitis (CP) are occasionally reported have exhibited some related problems. This article presents an evaluation of the published literature on the BF treatment of CP at home and abroad in the aspects of instrument, method, application, effect, function, and mechanism. UROSTYMTM and MyoTrac are often employed and their operating paths are basically the same. NIH prostate symptom scores, urinary function, pain, sexual function, immune function, prostate fluid, and other indicators are generally used for the analysis of the effects of BF alone or in combination with other therapies on CP and its related symptoms. Either BF alone or BF combined with other therapies can promote urination, reduce pain, improve the quality of life, attenuate inflammation, improve sexual function, adjust immunity, and lessen physical and chemical stimulation. However, the relevant literature is of low quantity and quality, the reported studies are not standardized, and exploration of the action mechanisms is neglected.

Objective To investigate the changes of serum procalcitonin (PCT), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and C reactive protein (CRP) in children with Henoch-Sch?nlein purpura (HSP) combined with surgical complications. Methods From January 2010 to June 2013, 48 children with HSP combined surgical complications were enrolled, the fasting venous blood were obtained in day 1, 3, 5 of admission and before discharge. Meanwhile, 30 healthy children were selected as control. Results Compared with the control group, the levels of serum PCT and IL-6 in day 1, 3, 5 of admission, and the levels of serum CRP in day 1, 3 of admission were higher in children with HSP combined with surgical complications (all P<0.01). The differences of levels of serum PCT, CRP and IL-6 in day 1, 3, 5 of admission and before discharge were statistically signiifcant between surgical group and non-surgical group. All these indicators showed a gradual downward trend. Compared with surgical group, the levels of serum PCT and IL-6 in day 3, 5 of admission and serum CRP in day 5 of admission were signiifcantly lower in non-surgical group (P<0.05). There were positive linear correlations between the level of serum PCT and IL-6, and between the level of PCT and CRP (r=0.48, 0.62, P<0.01). Conclusions The changes of serum PCT, IL-6 and CRP may be associated with the occurrence of surgical complications in children with HSP, monitor these indicators may help to assess the condition and to guide the treatment.

ObjectiveTo study the MR Imaging features of breast phyllodes tumor (PT),and to correlate it with pathological results.MethodClinical and MRI findings were retrospectively reviewed in twenty-seven women with 28 PTs lesions confirmed by surgical pathology.Statistical analyses were one-way ANOVA for size analysis,Fisher exact test for analysis of MR appearances and Spearman correlation to study the relationship between MRI findings and BI-RADS categories. Results( 1 ) The histologic findings were benign, borderline and malignant PTs in 14.3% (4/28),53.6% (15/28) and 32.1% (9/28) of lesions,respectively.(2) The mean maximum-diameter were (6.4 ± 3.9) cm,(5.7 ± 2.2) cm in borderline type and (4.8 ± 1.8)cm in benign type respectively. The results showed differences in lesion's size among the three type (F = 287.541,P =0.000),especially between malignant and benign type (P = 0.033 ).(3)Internal non-enhanced septations and silt-like changes on enhanced images,as well as time-signal curve on MRI correlated significantly with the histological grade ( P < 0.05 ).( 4 ) If the category BI-RADS ≥ 4a was considered to be a suspicious sign for malignant lesion, the diagnostic accuracy of MRI would be 96.4% (27/28),and the BI-RADS category of the MRI could reflect the PT's histological grade with a low correlation coefficient ( r = 0.382,P = 0.045 ).Conclusion The findings of PT on MRI have some characteristics, with tumor size and several MRI features correlating with the histological grade of breast PT.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of Buyang Huanwu decoction (BHD) drug serum on rat's in vitro cultured cerebral cortical neuron apoptosis induced by hypoxia, and on the expression of p53 and p21 genes in hypoxia process.
METHODSThe model of hypoxia neuron apoptosis was established adopting Daniel method and treated with BHD drug serum. The neuron apoptosis rate was determined by flow cytometry with propidium iodide staining, the p53 and p21 gene expression was tested by immunohistochemical method with flow cytometry.
RESULTSBHD could significantly inhibit the neuron apoptosis induced by hypoxia and down-regulate the expressions of p53 and p21 genes.
CONCLUSIONBHD shows inhibition on neuron hypoxia apoptosis and down-regulating of the p53 and p21 gene expression is one of its mechanisms.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the influencing factors of polyethylenimine (PEI) in gene transfer in vitro.
METHODSCytotoxic effects of PEI on in vitro cultured NIH 3T3 cells were quantified by MTT assay. The interaction between PEI and DNA at different charge ratios was analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis retardation assay. The expression of gene transfer was monitored in Cos-7 cells using pEGFP and pSV beta plasmids as the reporter gene systems. Influences of chloroquine, albumin, serum, salt ion strength, and Mg(2+) ion and other factors on PEI/DNA transfer efficiency were evaluated.
RESULTThe survival rate of NIH3T3 cells at 6 mg/L of PEI was 64.2% and at 7 mg/L of PEI was 54.4%. Gel electrophoresis retardation assays showed that PEI completely retarded DNA migration at 3.0 PEI nitrogen per DNA phosphate. Chloroquine enhanced the transfection efficiency of PEI. Albumin and serum in the culture medium decreased the transfection efficiency. HBS(HEPES buffered solution) or 150 mmol/L NaCl as the dilution solution of PEI/DNA was superior over 278 mmol/L glucose solution in the transfection efficiency. Mg(2+) in the dilution solution decreased the transfer efficiency of PEI/DNA.
CONCLUSIONPEI is efficient gene transfer agent of eukaryotes in vitro, and can be possibly used in vivo.
