A growing body of evidence has indicated the important role of autophagy receptors in directing ubiquitinated or non-ubiquitinated cargos towards autophagy. Autophagy receptors bind to LC3 (microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3) on phagophore and autophagosome membranes, and recognize signals on cargoes in the delivery system of autophagy. However, the diverse domains in the receptor structures determine that their roles would never be limited to autophagy. Up to date, increasing numbers of the receptor proteins have been demonstrated to serve as a molecular link or switch participating in autophagic degradation, apoptosis or cell survival signals. Here, we highlight the non-autophagic roles of these receptor proteins to draw attention to this growing research topic.

ObjectiveTo prepare a novel etimicin-encapsuled chitosan/hydroxyapatite nano-scaffolds and offer assistances for bone defect or osteomylitis.MethodsDrug-carried chitosan nanoparticles which was prepared by ionotropic gelation were combined with nano-hydroxyapatite.The mixture were shaped in molds and then prepared into porous scaffolds by freeze-dry.The surface of one scaffold was scanned. The grinded, particles of the scaffold were detected by field emission scanning electron microscope; X-ray diffraction was used to analyze components of the scaffold and total porosity.Staphylococcus aureus was choosed as the experimental bacteria,we studied lasting antibacterial property of drug-carried bone scaffold by antibacterial experiments,long-term drug releasing experiments and accumulation drug releasing experiments.Bone mesenchymal stem cells were used to detect the histocompatibility and inductivity of etimicin-carried scaffold.ResultsFreeze-dried porous scaffold has a surface with proper pore distribution (total porosity 70.68%) and the grinded scaffold has a globular and coliformed microstructure known after scanned by electron microscope. The drug-carried scaffold has a typical wave of hydroxyapatite under X-ray diffraction. The lasting antibacterial property study indicated that the drug-carried bone scaffold had maintained an inhibition zone for more than 7 days. The long-term drug releasing experiments and accumulation drug releasing experiments show that the fictional drug-carried bone scaffold released above the bacteriostasis concentration after one week and the accumulative amount within the safety scale. The scaffold had not an inhibitory effect on bone mesenchymal stem cells.ConclusionThe etimicin-encapsuled chitosar/ hydroxyapatite nano-scaffolds has similar microstructure and components of bone tissue. It is promising in bone tissue engineering applications because of its slow-release,antibacterial properties and satisfactory histocompatibility.

Objective To explore the significance of signal and volume change from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of hysteromyoma before and after uterine artery embolization (UAE) in the therapy evaluation. Methods MRI was performed in 30 patients (50 hysteromyoma) before and 3,6 and 12 months after UAE. They were grouped by location, signal and size. The MRI signal changes and the hysteromyoma's volume reduction ratio were measured. Results After 3,6,12 months, MRI of hysteromyoma was changed significantly, and all hysteromyomas had lower T2WI signals than before, some of which had higher T1WI signals. Hysteromyoma's volumes were progressively reduced, the majority of which shrinked significantly within 3 months. Evaluated by 12 month's volume changes, significant volume reduction was found in submucous fibroids, and significant difference was showed compared with intramural fibroids and subserosal fibroids (88.9 % vs. 73.7 % and 68.3 %, P=0.036, P=0.019), meanwhile, the latter two had no significant difference (P=0.384). The volume reduction rate in rich cell fibroids was higher than those in ordinary no degeneration fibroids and degeneration type, and there were significant differences (85.7 % vs. 72.1 % and 63.4%, P=0.038, P=0.014). Besides, the latter two had no significant difference (P=0.364). Large fibroids shrinked more obviously than small ones with significant difference (75.2 % vs. 59.6 %, χ2=4.563, P=0.044). Conclusion MRI is useful for the evaluation of efficacy in hysteromyoma before and after UAE, which can provide the better interventional treatment for the patients in regard to different sensitivity of hysteromyoma to UAE.
