3. Chemical constituents of Euphorbia royleana

Objective: To study the chemical constituents in the aerial parts of Euphorbia royleana. Methods: The constituents were isolated and purified by chromatographic of silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, RP18, and MCI columns, and their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses. Results: Twelve compounds were isolated from the 70% acetone extracts in the aerial parts of E. royleana and their structures were identified as (6S, 9R)-roseoside (1), 13-carboxyblumenol C 9-O-β-glucoside (2), 3, 3'-dimethylellagic acid-4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (3), cycloart-23-ene-3β, 25-diol (4), 23(E)-25-methoxycycloart-23-en-3β-ol (5), α-amyrin (6), triptohypol F (7), 9(11), 12-dieneoleana-3β-ol (8), friedelane-3β, 29-diol (9), D:A-friedoolean-29-ol-3-one (10), dischidiol (11), and lupeol (12). Conclusion: Compounds 1, 2, 7-11 are obtained from the plants in Euphorbia L. for the first time and compounds 3-5 and 12 are isolated from this plant for the first time.

6.Free superficial iliac circumflex artery skin flap: the clinical application and management of donor site defects.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinical application of free superficial iliac circumflex artery skin flaps, as well as the management of donor site defects.
METHODS17 free superficial iliac circumflex artery skin flaps were applied for the traumatic defects or deformities on face, neck, foot, hand, ankle and lower leg, respectively. The donor site defects were closed directly or covered by paraumbilical island flaps.
RESULTSThe 17 flap size ranged from 5 cm x 3 cm to 19 cm x 14 cm. 16 flaps survived completely except 1 flap with partial necrosis, which was closed by free skin graft. The donor site defects were closed directly in 10 cases, and covered by paraumbilical island flaps in 7 flaps without no flap necrosis. The abdomen had a good appearance.
CONCLUSIONSGood appearance can be achieved with free superficial iliac circumflex artery skin flaps for the defects on face, neck, foot, hand, ankle and lower leg. Paraumbilical island flap can be used for the donor site defects.

7.Polymorphism of the Bacillus anthracis BclA Protein

Bacillus anthracis collagen-like protein(BclA) is a structural component of the exosporium filaments,as well as the immunodominant antigen on the spore surface.The genes encoding BclA proteins were cloned and sequenced from three Bacillus anthracis strains separated from China.It was founded that the BclA proteins of strain A16R and 40048,containing 388 and 322 amino acids,72 and 50 copies of GXX repeat,5 and 3 copies of 21-amino-acid sequence(GPT)_(5)GDTGTT(BclA repeat) respectively,are different from those reported by foreign scholars;while the BclA protein of strain 40022,containing 370 amino acids,66 copies of GXX repeat,and 5 copies of BclA repeat,is identical with that of strain 53169 reported by others.The results are helpful for the molecular typing of B.anthracis strains,and provide a basis for the elucidation of the pathogenesis and immunogenicity of B.anthracis spore.
8.Purification and Characterization of ?-mannanase atMAN47 from Armillariella tabescens

Armillariella tabescens EJLY2098 was induced to produce ?-mannanase with konjac fine flour (Amorphopallus rivieri) as single carbon source. This induced enzyme was then purified using DEAE ion exchange chromatography and named atMAN47. Zymologic analysis showed that the molecular weight of this ?-mannanase was approximately 47 kD. The enzyme was stable when pH ranged from 5.0 to 6.5 and could be activated by Na+ and Ba2+. With an optimal temperature of 50?C. Action mode analysis of TLC revealed that the enzyme belonged to the endo-?-mannanase family. Being a meta-acid endo-?-mannanase, it was suitable to be applied to feed industry with a promising future as an enzyme preparation.

10.Correction of upper eyelid depression by transposition of orbital septum fat.

OBJECTIVETo discuss the operation method and characteristic of correcting upper eyelid depression by transposition of orbital septum fat.
METHODSDuring the double eyelid surgery, we set.the lateral orbital septum fat completely free, while the bottom is still connected with the middle orbital septum fat. We separate a tunnel from the middle to the inner side in orbital septum, and the separated orbital septum fat is transposed to the inner side of orbital septum by the tunnel with suturing fixation.
RESULTSFrom March 2008 to October 2013, 51 cases with upper eyelid depression were treated successfully. Patients were followed up for 3 months to 3 years (average, 7. 5 months) with sustained aesthetic results.
CONCLUSIONSOrbital septum fat transposition can successfully correct the upper eyelid depression. It should become a regular procedure in blepharoplasty.
