Objective To evaluate the effects of gender on the median effective target plasma concentration (EC50) of propofol inhibiting responses to laryngeal mask airway (LMA) insertion in patients.Methods Fiftyfive ASA physical status Ⅰ or Ⅱ patients,aged 20-60 yr,with body mass index 18-25 kg/m2,requiring LAM insertion,undergoing elective surgery,were divided into 2 groups according to the gender:male group (group M,n =27) and female group (group F,n =28).Propofol was given by target-controlled infusion.Anesthesia was induced with target-controlled infusion of propofol.The concentration of propofol was determined by using modified Dixon's up-and-down method.The initial target plasma concentration of propofol was 3.0 μg/ml (group M) or 2.7μg/ml (group F) and the ratio between the 2 successive concentrations was 1.1.Fentanyl 1 μg/kg was injected intravenously at about 10 min of propofol target-controlled infusion.LMA was inserted after the effect-site and plasma concentrations were balanced.The positive response to LMA insertion was defined as development of swallowing,coughing,biting LMA,body movement and laryngospasm during insertion.When the response to LMA insertion was positive,the concentration of propofol was increased in the next patient and when the response was negative,the concentration was decreased in the next patient.The EC50 and 95 ％ confidence interval of propofol inhibiting responses to LMA insertion were calculated.Results The EC50 (95 ％ confidence interval) of propofol was 3.11 (2.92-3.30) μg/ml in group F and 2.70 (2.55-2.85) μg/ml in group M (/ ＜ 0.05).Conclusion The EC50 of propofol inhibiting responses to LMA insertion is higher in female patients than in male patients.

Toll-like receptor (TLR) plays a crucial role in innate immune response and the subsequent induction of adaptive immunity. TLR is expressed on immune cells as well as epithelial cells and tumor cells. When endogenous and exogenous ligands bind with TLR, TLR signaling pathways are activated and a large number of inflammatory cytokines are released, creating an inflammatory microenvironment and leading to tumor formation, invasion and metastasis.

Objective To explore the difference of treating carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) with needling Yangchi point and moxibustion on Yangchi point.Methods 38 cases of CTS were randomly recruited into a treatment group (19 cases) and a control group (19 cases).The treatment group was treated with electric acupuncture on Yangchi point and the control group was treated with moxibustion on Yangchi point.VAS (visual analogue scale) and GSS (overall symptom score table) scores were measured before and after the treatment.Results After the treatment VAS,GSS scores were (3.95± 1.87),(13.42±7.81) in the treatment group and (4.26±2.38),(14.63±9.97) in the control group,both decreased than those in the same group before the treatment [treatment group were (6.89± 1.56),(25.58±8.09) ; the control group were (5.79± 1.69),(20.37±8.67)],and the difference between the two groups was significant (t=-3.06,-3.39,P＜0.05).3 months follow-up after the treatment,the value of VAS and GSS scores in treatment group were (3.29±2.31)％ and (8.06±7.77); in the control group were (3.28±2.95) and (10.44±9.82),both decreased than those in the same group before the treatment [treatment group were (6.76± 1.56),(24.76±8.17); the control group were (5.78± 1.73),(20.33± 8.92) (P＜0.05)].The difference of VAS score was not significant between the two group (t=-1.49,P＞0.05); while the difference of GSS score showed statistical difference between the two groups (t=-2.64,P＜0.05).Conclusion Acupunctureon Yangchi point can effectively improve pain,numbness and motor activity in patients with the carpal tunnel syndrome.

Objective:To observe changes of sexual hormone level,score for Hamilton depression scale(HAMD) and clinical score for TCM symptoms after treatment of female depression with the principle of soothing the liver and relieving depression,and tonifying the kidney and relieving mental stress.Methods:Sixty cases of female patients of depression were randomly assigned to a treatment group(n=30) and a control group(n=30) according to age and condition of patients.Scores for HAMD and TCM symptoms before and after treatment were recorded and compared in both groups.Serum estradiol(E_2),progestin(P) and prolactin(PRL) levels were determined in the patients of depression and healthy persons.Results:Hormone levels were correlated with HAMD scores and 4 factors of HAMD,and after treatment with the method for soothing the liver and tonifying the kidney,serum E_2 increased (P

Since 2004,provinces and cities began to implement the national policy that gave the poverty advanced schistosomiasis patients some temporary assistance.The central and local government arranged special funds to provide medical assistance.This paper reviewed the policy of the assistance,the necessity of performance evaluation and research status of advanced schistosomiasis.Finally,it put forward some suggestions on the implementation of performance evaluation of advanced schistosomiasis,so as to provide reference for the government to allocate limited health resources reasonably and optimally and perfect relevant policies.

Medical protection is the pivotal step to control the influence of chemical terror. Anti-chemical terror medicine will provide new important subjects for researches in chemical-defense medicine, and studies in chemical-defense medicine will lay the foundation of anti-chemical-terror medicine. The use and management of medical implanting material is always the key point of the hospital material management. Questions existing in hospital management were investigated along with some suggestions in further management in the system and the process.

OBJECTIVE:To study the preparation and quality control of compound doxepin hydrochloride cream.METHO DS:The compound cream was prepared with doxepin hydrochloride and triamcinolone acetonide,and the contents were determinated by UV-spectrophotometry and HPLC respectively.RESULTS:The calibration curves were linear in the range of the concentrations of the experiment respectively,r=0.9999.CONCLUSION:The method is simple,accurate and suitable for the quality control of this preparation.
