Journal of Practical Radiology 1991;0(03):-
Objective To study the correlations between MR imaging and histological classification of intracranial meningiomas. Methods MR imaging findings of 128 cases of intracranial meningiomas proved by operation and pathology were analyzed retrospectively. Results On T 1-weighted images,29(49%) meningothelial meningiomas were hypointense, 11(19%) were slightly hypointense and 17(29%) were isointense, while fibrours meningiomas were respectively in 23(59%),5(13%) and 9(23%). On T 2-weighted images, 34(58%) meningothelial meningiomas were hyperintense, 15(25%) were slightly hyperintense and 10(17%) were isointense, while fibrours meningiomas were in 2(5%),8(20.5%) and 11(28%) respectively. Most of the intracranial meningiomas such as meningothelial, fibrours and transitional were iso- and hypo-intense to the cortex on T 1-weighted imaging. On T 2-weighted imaging, meningothelial, angiomatous and transitional were hyperintense or slightly hyperintense, while fibrous tended to be hypointense or slightly hypointense. Conclusion The signals of meningiomas of different histologic type on T 1-weighted images are no significant different. On T 2-weighted images, there are significant correlation between signal intensity and tumor histology.

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), and compare it with contrast-enhanced CT(CECT). Methods Eighty-one focal liver lesions were evaluated with CEUS and CECT, diagnostic value of two modalities were calculated, vaseularity manifestations of two modalities in arterial phase were compared. Results The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy of CEUS were 96.6 %, 86.9 %, 94.9 %, 90.9 %, 93. 80%, respectively, and the diagnostic value of CECT were 98.3%, 82. 6%, 93.4%, 95.0%, 93.8%, respectively. Among all the metastasis, hypervascular manifestation lesions in arterial phase of CEUS and CECT were 72% (18/25) and 32% (8/25)( P <0.05). Conclusions The diagnostic value of CEUS and CECT in focal liver lesions are comparably satisfying, and there is no significant difference between them, the combination use of two modalities would improve the diagnosis performance. CEUS can show more hypervaseular metastasis than CECT in arterial phase.

Objective To explore the sonographic characteristics and to evaluate its diagnostic value of hepatic lymphoma (HL). Methods The clinical data and abdominal sonographic ifndings of 18 consecutive patients with histological proven diagnosis of lymphoma with liver involvement were reviewed, including contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) images. Results The liver sonographic features of 18 HL were differentiated as three types including nodular, diffuse and mixed type. Nodular type showed well-deifned hypoecho lesions in 6 cases with penetrating vascular lfow signals in 2 cases and no vascular lfow signals in 6 cases by color Doppler imaging. In 3 cases by CEUS, all the hepatic focal nodulars showed variable arterial enhancement but wash-out in the portal venous and late phases. For diffuse type cases, hepatomegaly without nodule was showed in 11 cases. Vasular in liver showed normal in 8 cases and abnormal in 3 cases. For mixed type cases, hepatomegaly and multiple ill-deifned hypoechoic lesions with normal vascular in liver were showed in 1 case. Hepatosplenomegaly and abdominal lymphoadenopathies were identiifed in 11 cases. Conclusions The characteristics and the types of sonographic ifndings may be helpful in differentiating HL from other liver lesions.

Objective To understand the epidemiological and etiological characteristics of influenza in Mianyang City
from 2019 to 2021, so as to provide a basis for the prevention and control of influenza. Methods Influenza surveillance data
in Mianyang City from 2019 to 2021 were collected and analyzed statistically. Results A total of 55 970 cases of influenza
were reported in Mianyang City from 2019 to 2021, with an average annual incidence of 388.08/100 000. A total of 103 723
cases of influenza -like illness cases (ILI) were reported, with an average annual ILI% of 3.58%. The incidence, ILI% , and
positive detection rates of influenza were all far higher than those in the corresponding period in 2019. The classification of the
population is mainly composed of students under the age of 15. The top three reported cases were Fucheng District (20 118,
35.94%), Youxian District (6 394, 11.42%) and Jiangyou District (5 800, 10.36%). 10 126 samples of ILI were received and
detected, with a positive rate of 19.53%, the positive rate of ILI samples was mainly students under 15 years old. The dominant
strains of influenza viruses showed an alternating trend over the years, and A (H3) was the predominant type in 2019. Except for
2 A (H9) strains detected in 2021, the rest were all BV strains. Due to the impact of COVID-19 in 2020, the positive detection
rate was low throughout the year. 43 outbreaks of ILI were reported, which were mainly occurred in winter, and most of them
were in primary schools. Conclusion From 2019 to 2021, the characteristics of cases, ILI, pathogen surveillance and
outbreak events of influenza in Mianyang City are basically the same, with students under 15 years of age and schools
remaining the key population and sites of concern. the importance of non-pharmaceutical interventions for influenza prevention
and control is further evidenced by the low incidence of influenza during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Objective To study the relationship between plasma TGF-β, TNF-α, IL-10 levels and radiation pneumonitis (RP) in patients received thoracic irradiation with 3DCRT. Methods Sixty-nine patients of lung cancer stage Ⅲ or esophageal carcinoma were evaluated prospectively by EUSA for plasma TNF-α, TGF- β, IL-10 levels and IL-10/TNF-α before 3DCRT, after 40 - 50 Gy and after 3DCRT. Results Twenty-eight patients had RP. In RP patients, the plasma TGF-β, TNF-α, IL-10 levels and IL-10/TNF-α was (15.2 ± 13.4) μg/L, (28.4 ± 13.4), (24. 1 ± 17. 1) ng/L and 1.01 ± 0.86 before 3DCRT, respectively;TNF-α increased to (36.1 ± 15.5) ng/L(t = 2.01, P = 0.040), IL-10 and IL-10/TNF-α decreased to (18.8 ± 10.8) ng/L (t =1.40, P = 0.166) and 0.62 0.55 (t = 1.90, P = 0.063)after 40-50 Gy. After 3DCRT TNF-α was higher (36.9 ± 15.5) ng/L than that before 3DCRT(t = - 2.20, P = 0.032) ,but IL-10 and IL-10/TNF-α were lower than that before 3DCRT [(13.7 ± 6.2) ng/L, t = 3.03, P = 0.005 ;0.41 ± 0.21, t = 3.60, P = 0.001]. TGF-β was not change in three times(P > 0.05) .In non-RP patients, TGF-β,TNF-α, IL-10 and IL-10/TNF-α was not yet change in three times(P > 0.05) respectively. TGF-β was not yet change between RP and non-RP patients before 3DCRT (t = 0.54, P = 0.594), and TNF-α was higher in RP group than that in non-RP group after 40-50 Gy(t = 2.02, P = 0.048), but IL-10 and IL-10/TNF-α was less in RP group than that in non-RP group after 3DCRT(t=2.50,P=0.015;t=4.63,P=0.000). Conclusions The levels of TNF-α and IL-10 are closely related to the occurrence of RP. Monitoring the changes in dynamic state could predict the generation of RP, which could be employed as a sensitive index for indicating risks for acute RP.

OBJECTIVETo explore the correlation among prevertebral hyperintensity (PVH), sagittal canal diameter on MRI and neurologic function of patients after cervical vertebral hyperextension injury without fracture and dislocation.
METHODSThe clinical data of 100 patients with cervical vertebral hyperextension injury without fracture and dislocation were retrospectively analyzed from September 2010 to December 2013. The patients were divided into PVH group and non-PVH group according to the presence of PVH on T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging. There were 39 patients in PVH group, including 31 males and 8 females, aged from 21 to 83 years old with an average of (58.10 ± 14.78) years; and the other 69 patients in non-PVH group, including 49 males and 12 females, aged from 32 to 77 years old with an average of (55.05 ± 10.36) years. The sagittal disc level canal diameters of subaxial cervical spine were measured on mid-sagittal magnetic resonance imaging. The age, sex, cause of injury, and the segments of spinal stenosis were recorded. American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) impairment scale and motor score were used to evaluate the neurological status.
RESULTSThe ASIA motor score of the group with PVH was 52.56 ± 31.97 while the ASIA motor score was 67.70 ± 22.83 in non-PVH group (P = 0.013). More patients with intramedullary hyperintensity signal on MRI were observed in the PVH group than in non-PVH group (P = 0.006). There was a significant positive correlation between ASIA motor score and sagittal disc level canal diameter of injury segment (P = 0.003). The neurological status was worse in patients with multi-level sagittal canal diameters below 8 mm.
CONCLUSIONThe PVH and the disc-level canal sagittal diameter of the injury segment are associated with neurological status. The patients with multi-level sagittal canal stenosis are vulnerable to severe cervical spinal cord injury.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2006;31(5):645-654
OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the effect of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) and the results of losartan intervention on platelet-aggregation in spontaneous hypertensive rats.
METHODS:
Spontaneous hypertensive rats (SHR) were randomly assigned into 3 groups: SHR control group, L-arginine treatment group (L-arg) and losartan (los) treatment group, each group consisting of 16 rats. Another 16 Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY) served as normal control group. The L-arginine and losartan treatment groups received 1.0 g/kg L-arginine or 30 mg/kg losartan in 10 mL/kg distilled water daily through gastric tube for 2 weeks respectively, while the SHR and WKY groups received distilled water alone. All the rats took tap water and standard feed freely during the experimental period. Systolic blood pressure (SBP) was monitored by the tail-cuff method. At the end of the 2-week intervention, all the rats were sacrificed and the blood samples were collected from the carotid artery. The platelet-aggregation-rate, NO levels, eNOS activity, and ADMA levels both in the plasma and the platelets were measured. We got other platelet samples from the SD rats and incubated the platelets with blood vascular endothelium from the above 4 groups of experimental rats and the platelet-aggregation-rate was monitored as well.
RESULTS:
(1) Systolic blood pressure of the SHR was significantly higher, compared with that of the WKY (P<0.01), which were significantly reduced both in the L-arginine and losartan groups (P<0.01). (2) Platelet-aggregation-rate of the SHR was significantly higher, compared with that of WKY (P<0.01), which was significantly reduced both in the L-arginine and losartan groups (P<0.01). (3) NO levels both in the plasma and the platelets of the SHR were lower, compared with those of the WKY (P<0.05); and were elevated significantly both in the L-arginine and losartan groups, compared with those of the SHR (P<0.05); (4) Both the plasma and the platelet eNOS activities of SHR followed the same pattern of the NO levels in these groups (P<0.01). (5) In contrast, the plasma and platelet ADMA levels showed a reverse pattern (P<0.05). (6) Platelets from the SD rats incubated with vascular endothelium of WKY exhibited lower platelet-aggregation-rate,compared with the platelets incubated with SHR vascular endothelium (P<0.05); Platelet-aggregation-rate of the SHR group increased, compared with that of the WKY group (P<0.05); Platelet-aggregation-rate both of L-arginine and losartan groups reduced, compared with that of the SHR group (P<0.05).
CONCLUSION
High levels of ADMA both in the plasma and in the platelets of SHR are associated with the decline of eNOS activity and NO levels, which might be an important reason for the increased platelet-aggregation-rate. Intervention with Losartan can reduce the platelet-aggregation-rate simultaneously with its known anti-hypertensive effect. The possible mechanism might be that losartan can enhance the eNOS activity and elevate NO levels through the suppression of ADMA.
