Background: People were infected with Cysticercus by either eating Taenia solium eggs from the environment or from proglottids in intestines. These eggs hatched to larvae in muscular and cerebral tissue, which causes specific symptoms. \r\n', u'Objectives: To determine symptoms of human cysticercosis. \r\n', u'Subjects and methods: Clinical and para-clinical processes were conducted on 30 cysticercosis patients, of which 21 were male (70%) and 9 female (30%).\r\n', u'Results and conclusion: The main symptoms were headache in 29 patients (96.7%), subcutaneous cysts in 28 patients (93.3%), epilepsy in 14 patients (46.7%), positive ELISA (antigen of T.solium) with samples in 28 (93.3%) and positive ELISA with CSF samples (73.3%), living cysts in the brain were discovered in 25 patients (83.3%) by CT scanner and eosinophylia in 24 patients (80%). Cysticercus nodules were collected from 28 patients in this study; the species were identified by molecular method. A portion of 652 bp of mitochondrial-encoded cytochrome oxidase b (cob) and 217 amino-acid was amplified by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and sequenced. The nucleotide sequence was comparatively aligned with the known corresponding sequences of Taenia solium Chinese (TsoCN1). Molecular-based analysis revealed that the Cysticercus from the patients in this study was identified as Taenia solium. There is absolute nucleotide and amino-acid similarity between Taenia solium Chinese (hemogeny 99.1-99.8% of nucleotide and 100% of amino acid).\r\n', u'

The author has recently experienced two cases of cysticercosis whish occurred under the superior bulbar subconjunctiva and the caruncle. These cases were not associated with any other systemic lesions elsewhere in the body. The cysts were surgically removed and the microscopic examination confirmed a well preserved cysticercus cellulosae. According to the previous reports, the cysticercosis occurs frequently in the ocular region. In the ocular region, the subretina and the vitreous cavity are the predominating areas. The author experienced subconjunctival cysticercosis in the eye where it has rarely been reported. The ocular cysticercosis is known as a very rare case in Korea. A brief medical history of cases and a review of the related reports are presented.

We review on 88 patients who suffer from cerebral cysticercosis. In which 50 patients (57%) with increasing intracranial pressure syndrome. It appeared often in the patients with cysticercus cellulosae which belong to the stages of active form resided in parenchymal of the brain. Eight patients suffered from hydrocephalus secondary, because of the obstruction Sylvian aqueduct by the intraventricular cyst. Treatment with Praziquentel was given at 30mg/kg/day. Prednisolon were also give to reduce side effects, for 10 days. Three cures with the time break are 20 days. After three cures, most of the signs of the increasing intracranial pressure syndrome disappeared. It is especially good effective in 8 patients with hydrocephalus that should not be removed surgically.

There are various genera of taeniasis but in Vietnam Taenia saginata, Taenia solium and Taenia asiatica. Among them, only Taenia solium is currently identified as the cause of cysticercosis. Taeniasis and certicercosis are distributed largely. The incidence of taeniasis is 0.5-12.6%. Certicercosis is occured at least in 49 provinces and cities in whole of the country, with the incidence of 5.7% in Bac Ninh and 19.7% in Ho Chi Minh city. These conditions affect considerably on community health. In local health services, the treatment of cysticercosis is now difficult. At basic level the collaboration of health services and veterinary health is recommended in the control of tamiasis and certicercosis

Studty was conducted on 42 patients (32 males and 10 females, aged 14-55 years old) with taenia soluincyst in brain. The cyst was common at the age 20-49 years old, female 23.81% and male 76.19%. There was a diversity of nervous syndromes in both 2 hemispheres of brain, the most were intern-cerebral high pressure 95.2% and epilepsy 54.74%. Active forms of cyst accounted for 73.81%, needed for treating CT images of skull and brain showed a dispersion of the cyst in both 2 hemispheres of brain, consisted with the clinical symptoms.

The study used WHO's questionnaire to identify the prevalence of epilepsy and its causes in Thai Bao commune of Gia Binh distric, Bac Ninh province, a community with high risk of cysticercosis infection. Results: There were 71 cases (41 men, 30 women) out of 6617 people living in the country suffering epilepsy. The prevalence of epilepsy was 10.7%, 52 cases were active epilepsy. The lowest age group suffering epilepsy were under 10 years old (5.7%), increased in higher age group and significantly increased at over 40 age group (over 17%). 64.79% of patients had generalized seizures, 23.94% had partial seizures and 11.27% of patients had unclassifiable seizures. Age groups under 10 and 41-50 had high risk of epilepsy onset. 49.3% (35/71 patients) had risk factors causing epilepsy, out of them 14 were due to neurocysticercosis. 62% patients were examined, managed and treated

The study was performed to assess the prevalence and risk factors of epilepsy in a rural area where cysticercosis was endemic Dong Cuu commune, Gia Binh district, Bac Ninh province. Results: There were 38 cases of 6269 people living in the area suffering epilepsy. The prevalence of epilepsy was 6.1%. Among 38 patients with epilepsy, 25 cases were active epilepsy. The prevalence was highest in patients under 10 year and between 41 - 50 of aged. 71% of patients had generalized seisures, 13% had partial seisures and 15.8% of patients had unclassification seisures. 18/38 patients had risk factors indentified, of them 3 were due to Neurocysticercosis. 45% of patients did not receive any management and treatment. The prevalence of epilepsy in the area with cysticercosis as the same as other areas. However, Neurocysticercosis was considerable cause of epilepsy in the community.

A rare case of intramedullary Cysticercosis, at the thoracic cord is introduced which was misdiagnosed as intramedullary tumor and was confirmed after operation. After myelogram developed progressive paraplegia, which was not improved after operation. The myelographic finding of intramedullary Cysticercosis can't differenciate from intramedullary tumor and we have to consider this condition making diagnosis of intramedullary tumor.

The authers have recently experienced a case of cysticercosis in the left lateral rectus muscleof 9 years old Korean boy. The cyst, 3 X 3 X 5mm of size, was located within the muscle sheath and removed surgically in its capsule, confirmed as cysticercosis microscopically. We presents here a report of cysticercosis with a brief review of literature.
