Ovulatory dysfunction refers to absent ovulation or luteal insufficiency. It is commonly seen in women with irregular menstruation or menstrual cycles, especially in those with oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea. Ovulatory dysfunction is considered the single-most frequent cause of female infertility. Clinically, the two major causes of ovulatory dysfunction are polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome (LUFS). Acupuncture-moxibustion improves ovulation and helps with infertility. Through a systematic review and analysis on relevant literatures in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture-moxibustion Databankover the last decade, this paper summarized the characteristics and pattern of acupuncture-moxibustion points for improving ovulation in order to provide an optimal acupuncture-moxibustion protocol in this regard.

BACKGROUND: There is still no affirmative conclusion on the proliferative characteristics and the sources of neural progenitor cells after chronic compressive injury of spinal cord in adult mammals and the effects of astrocytes in this process.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the proliferative characteristics and the sources of neural progenitor cell and the effects of astrocytes by means of analyzing the changes of expression of nestin and glial fibrillary acidic protein after chronic compressive injury of spinal cord and after decompression in adult rats.DESIGN: Completely randomized control trial.SETTING: Orthopaedics Research Institute, the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University.MATERIALS: The experiment was completed in Orthopaedics Research Institute of the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University from March to October 2003. A total of 50 adult healthy Wistar rats were selected and randomly divided into normal control group, moderate chronic compressive spinal cord injury group (compressive mass occupied 40% of the diameter of spinal canal), severe compression group (compressive mass occupied 60% of the diameter of spinal canal). Three-day and 10-day decompression groups (depression after 24-hour severe compressive injury) with 10 in each group.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① Grey value of positive expression of nestin in grey and white matter in spinal cord segment near compression (5 mm to the edge of compression) in rats of each group. ② Expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein in spinal cord of rats in each group.RESULTS: All the 50 rats entered experimental analysis. ①There were significant expressions of nestin in moderate compression group (white matter 235.33±6.48, grey matter 196.28±6.55), severe compression group (white matter 190.45±4.91, grey matter 173.15±5.98), 3-day decompression after severe compressive injury group (white matter 198.39±3.24, grey matter 180.38±4.51) and 10-day decompression group (white matter 202.55±3.54) (P < 0.05), especially in severe compression group (P < 0.01).Compared with the normal control group, the difference between the ex pression of nestin in grey matter and that in ependymal cells on the central canal of spinal cord in 10-day decompression group has no significance (P > 0.05). ②Compared with normal control group, the expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein in spinal cord increased in each injury group, and the amount of positive cells of glial fibrillary acidic protein went up and cell soma was hypertrophic, and the processes became thicker and longer.CONCLUSION: There is neural progenitor cell proliferation in the early stage of chronic compressive injury of spinal cord and after decompression in adult rats. Astrocyte participates in proliferation and migration of neural progenitor cells and has important trophic and repair effects on spinal cord.

Objective To observe the expression of survivin and Aurora B in human pancreatic cancer BXPC3 cells after the treatment of sulindac and to explore the potential mechanism. Methods MTr assay was used to determine the effect of sulindac on the proliferation of the BXPC3 cells. RT-PCR was used to detect the expression of mRNA level of survivin and Aurora B, western blot was used to detect protein expression of survivin and Aurora B Thr-232. Cell cycle and apoptosis were detected by flow eytometry (FCM). Results The BXPC3 cells were inhibited by sulindac in a dose and time-dependent manner; the expression of mRNA of survivin and Aurora B were both significantly decreased from 1.5644 and 0.6554 to 0. 4372 and 0.1132 (P< 0.01), the expression of survivin protein and the phosphorylation of Aurora B Thr-232 were also decreased from 1.2735 and 0.4680 to 0.2126 and 0.2546 (P<0.01); the proportion of cells in the G0/G1 phase was increased from (56.65±1.93)% to (70.58±3.21)% (P<0.01). Conclusions Sulindac had inhibitory effects on the growth of BXPC3 cells, the possible mechanism was via decreasing the expression of survivin which depressed the activity of Aurora B, then the CPC was influenced. The most of the cells were blocked in the G0/G1 phase, and the cells' mitosis was inhibited.

Abstract: Objective To construct HepG2, Huh7 cell lines stably express hepatitis B virus X (HBx) mutant (C1653T, T1753C), and explore their effect on the biological behavior of hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Methods The lentivirus plasmid of pLVX-HBxC1653T-IRES-tdTomato, pLVX-HBxT1753C-IRES-tdTomato were obtained by PCR site mutagenesis according to wild type ayr HBx. Double enzyme digestion and Sanger sequencing were performed for accuracy of plasmid. Blank HepG2 and Huh7 cells were used as the control group, HepG2, Huh7 cells were infected by pLVX-HBx-IRES-tdTomato, pLVX-HBxC1653T-IRES-tdTomato, and pLVX-HBxT1753C-IRES-tdTomato lentivirus solution, then monoclonal cell was selected by 0.6 μg/mL puromycin. Immunostaining and Western Blot were performed for the verification of stable strains. CCK8 assay was performed for the proliferation capacity of stable strains. Western Blot was performed for expression of EMT-related signal molecules in cells. The independent samples t-test was used for comparison between two groups. Results Double enzyme digestion and Sanger sequencing showed that that the size of the cut fragments of recombinant lentiviral plasmids was correct, and the point mutation location and base substitution were correct, suggesting that the plasmid of pLVX-HBx-IRES-tdTomato, pLVX-HBxC1653T-IRES-tdTomato, pLVX-HBxT1753C-IRES-tdTomato were constructed successfully. Immunostaining and Western blot showed that HBX were expressed in stable strains, while there was no HBX expression in the blank control group, indicating that the HepG2 and Huh7 cell lines stably expressing HBx, HBxC1653T, HBxT1753C were successfully constructed. CCK8 assay showed that the proliferation capacity of HBx and mutant were enhanced compared to the control group (P<0.01), HBx C1653T displayed further additive the effect compared to HBx (P<0.05). Moreover, HBxC1653T mutation also significantly upregulated N-cadherin expression and downregulated E-cadherin expression, thus promoting the occurrence of EMT. Conclusions HepG2 and Huh7 cell lines stably expressing HBx, HBxC1653T, HBxT1753C were successfully constructed, HBxC1653T mutation significantly enhanced the proliferation of HCC cells and epithelial to mesenchymal transition occurrence.

This study is aimed to evaluate the clinical application of the millimeter wave and magnetism light compound therapy. The EHF-98B MMW. RL compound therapy apparatus made in the University of Electronic Technology(Chengdu) was used in 171 patients. The superficial, skin lesions or the visceral reflected skin regions (acupoints) were directly exposed to the light from the apparatus. All the cases were divided into five groups, namely skin mucosa superficial lesions, trauma of the bone and joint soft tissue, surgical incision, ENT infections, and rare intricate diseases. The therapeutic effects observed in the groups were analyzed and evaluated by means of 4 levels. As for the 171 patients, the cure rate was 42.7% (73 patients), the effective rate 25.1%(43 patients), the improvement rate 31%(53 patients), and no effect constituted 1.2%(2 patients). The total effective rate was 98.8%. This therapy was especially effective for treating chronic cervicitis, cervical erosion, soft tissue trauma, surgical incision. Also it was effective for treating some rare intricate diseases, e.g. sterility, vitiligo, Behcet disease. So the millimeter wave and magnetism light compound therapy may find wide clinical applications.
