The erythrocyte-antigen, basically is antigen of blood group systems, and usually has 2 parts: protein and lipid or glucid. The erythrocyte antigens usually exist along the life. However, they can be impaired when a person is aging or suffering from a disease. The erythrocyte antibodies are immunoglobulines in the plasma. Most of them are IgM, IgG and little with IgA. Currently, 23 erythrocyte blood group systems with more than 250 antigens have been found.

Background: Antiretroviral treatment (ART) can decreased the incidence of HIV dementia, but milder cognitive impairment may not resolve when patients receive ART. In Indonesia, cognitive screening of HIV patients is not routinely performed before starting ART. Here we assess cognitive impairment in ART- naïve HIV patients beginning treatment in Jakarta. Methods: This is a cross sectional study with inclusion criteria: HIV positive, ART naïve, CD4 T-cells below 200 cells/uL, Karnofsky Performance Score (KPS) above 70. HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND) was defined by performance at least 1 Standard Deviation (SD) below the mean of demographically adjusted normative scores in at least two cognitive areas. Results: We studied 82 subjects with median (range) age 31 (19-48) years. Fifty six subjects (68%) were males. HAND was found in 42 subjects (51%). Eight subjects (19%) had impairment in 4 domains, 15 subjects (36%) in 3 and 19 (45%) in 2. The most common domain affected was memory (63%). Conclusion: Our results show the prevalence of HAND is high among HIV naïve patients in Jakarta. This establishes the need for screening of cognitive function before initiating ART.

PURPOSE: To compare the intraocular pressure (IOP) measured by portable rebound tonometer and TonoPen applanation tonometer with pressure measured by Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT) and analyze the factors affecting IOP disagreement between tonometers. METHODS: In a prospective study of 463 eyes, IOP was measured with Icare Pro(R) rebound tonometer, TonoPen AVIA(R) applanation tonometer, and GAT. Bland-Altman plot, intraclass correlation coefficient, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed to evaluate the agreement of IOP measured by each tonometer and the factors affecting the measurements. RESULTS: The IOP values measured by Icare Pro(R) and TonoPen AVIA(R) were consistently higher than those measured by GAT, but showed no significant differences with those measured by GAT (p = 0.307 and 0.114, respectively). In Bland-Altman plot, the IOP values measured by Icare Pro(R) and TonoPen AVIA(R) exhibited excellent agreement with those measured by GAT. Both Icare Pro(R)/GAT and TonoPen AVIA(R)/GAT differences increased with younger age (p = 0.041 and 0.049, respectively) and higher central corneal thickness (p = 0.019 and 0.035, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: IOPs measured by portable Icare Pro(R) rebound tonometer and TonoPen AVIA(R) applanation tonometer were significantly correlated with IOP measured by GAT. Therefore, such instruments can be useful when measuring IOP with GAT is difficult. However, central corneal thickness and age should be considered when measuring IOP with portable tonometers.
