PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to identify the research trends of articles published in the Journal of Korean Clinical Nursing Research from 2000 to 2017 by a text network analysis using keywords. METHODS: This study analyzed 600 articles. The R program was used for text mining that extracted frequency, centrality rank, and keyword network. RESULTS: From 2000 to 2009, keywords with high-frequency were ‘nurse’, ‘pain’, ‘anxiety’, ‘knowledge’, ‘attitude’, and so on. ‘Pain’, ‘nurse’, and ‘knowledge’ showed a high centrality. ‘Fatigue’ showed no high frequency but a high centrality. Keywords such as ‘nurse’, ‘knowledge’, and ‘pain’ also showed high frequency and centrality between 2010 and 2017. ‘Hemodialysis’ and ‘intensive care unit’ were added to keywords with high frequency and centrality during the period. CONCLUSION: The frequency and centrality of keywords such as ‘nurse’, ‘pain’, ‘knowledge’, ‘hemodialysis’, and ‘intensive care unit’ reflect the research trends in clinical nursing between 2000 and 2017. Further studies need to expand the keyword networks by connecting the main keywords.

Journal of Korean Society of Medical Informatics 2001;7(2):149-159
There is no nursing information network related to nursing research, clinical test, drug, and law, although primary responsibility is on nurses about medication, and clinical laboratory test such as blood sampling. Majorities of education for nurses on medication and clinical laboratory test are not systematic, and education on medical law that can be protect nurses' right is very limited. Therefore, information exchange and communication among clinical nurses is required to expand nursing knowledge and professionalism. This study was conducted to develop nursing information contents on nursing research trend, drug, clinical test, nursing law, and medical atlas. Those can fulfil the nurses' informational needs. As a result of contents development, nursing information site was constructed that can offer all nursing related informations using direct link services. In this site, nurses can integrate informations on nursing research, nursing education, and nursing practice systematically with diversity.

3.Changes in Strauss & Corbin's Grounded Theory
Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2019;49(5):505-514
PURPOSE: This study aimed to introduce and elucidate changes in Strauss and Corbin's grounded theory and discuss its application to the field of nursing in South Korea. METHODS: The changes in grounded theory by Strauss and Corbin were examined through a literature review of grounded theory from its inception. RESULTS: Strauss and Corbin acknowledged their philosophical backgrounds of symbolic interactionism and pragmatism; however, their methodology based on positivism overwhelmed their epistemology and ontology. This inconsistency has been represented by the coding paradigm and the premise of “emergent from the data.” In the revised version of Basics, Strauss and Corbin modified their theory to weaken the coding paradigm and strengthen the strategies for the development of substantive theory. CONCLUSION: Strauss and Corbin's revised grounded theory did not fully address the inconsistency of their epistemology and ontology between their acknowledgement and methodology. However, these changes constitute a meaningful step toward resolving inconsistencies and highlight the development of substantive theory. This has implications for Korean nursing researchers who have utilized methodologies in grounded theory with dogmatic approaches; grounded theory, with its evolving nature, is not a finalized method and calls for open approaches for the development of a grounded theory that fits Korean nursing.

4.Development of framework for clinical nursing research fellowship in the Philippines.
Philippine Journal of Nursing 2017;87(1):66-75
Fellowship programs serve as alternative means to bridge the gap between undergraduate education and nursing practice. The purpose of the study was to develop a framework for a Clinical Nursing Research (CNR) Fellowship Program in the Philippines. A sequential non-dominant mixed method design was used. It comprised the following: identifying the competencies needed by clinical nurses in research and EBP; the training needs of clinical nurses in research and EBP; the core competencies, functional competencies and tasks of CNR fellows; and describing potential fellows' reactions and preferred ways of learning. Categorical analyses were done to analyze qualitative data. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze training needs and consensus agreement of experts. There were nine core competencies and 70 tasks of a CNR fellow that were distributed to the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Levels. Potential fellows prefer learning that is active, reflective, sequential, cooperative, guided by experts, personalized and involves use of technology. After learning the basics, they would need to learn more intensively on competencies that would help them become more capable of contributing to clinical practice. The CNR Fellowship Program framework seemed to contain contextually-relevant core competencies in clinical nursing research that are needed to augment basic nursing research education and to benefit clinical nursing practice.

6.A Review on the Measurement Variables of Nursing Research for Patients with Head and Neck Cancer in Korea
Journal of Korean Biological Nursing Science 2019;21(3):161-168
PURPOSE: The purpose of this paper (a literature review study) was to confirm the trend of nursing research for head and neck cancer patients in Korea. METHODS: Research databases were reviewed and analyzed from 13 papers (2004 through 2019 using KISS, NDSL, RISS, DBpia, and the National Assembly Library. As a result of this paper, we found that there were many studies that used questionnaires. RESULTS: Measurement variables related to head and neck cancer patients were physical variables related to oral condition, psychological variables related to depression and anxiety, social support, family support related to family, and quality of life as a result variable. CONCLUSION: Therefore, integrated nursing intervention strategies and clinical nursing research considering the physical, psychological, social, and family aspects of head and neck cancer patients are needed. Based on the results of this study, we propose qualitative research on head and neck cancer patients, development of educational programs, intervention studies to verify effects, and development of clinical practice guidelines.

Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing 2013;19(4):306-317
PURPOSE: This study was done to evaluate quality of reports of non-randomized controlled quasi-experimental study articles published in the Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing (KJWHN). METHODS: A search was done for experimental studies assessing intervention effects among all articles published in the KJWHNfrom 2008 to 2013. Original articles were reviewed and analyzed according to the 22 checklist items of the guidelines for Transparent Reporting for Evaluations with Non-randomized Designs (TREND). RESULTS: Thirty-five articles on experimental studies were identified. The evaluation of the quality of reporting in these experimental studies found that there was a wide variety in the level of satisfying the TREND checklist. In particular, according to TREND topics, low levels of reporting quality were found for "title & abstract (only for information on how units were allocated to the intervention)", "outcomes in methods", "assignment in methods", "blinding in methods", "recruitment in results", "baseline data in results", "interpretation in discussion (especially intervention mechanism and success or barriers), "generalizability in discussion". CONCLUSION: Results indicate that adherence to TREND guidelines varied in experimental studies published in the KJWHN suggesting the recommendation that for higher levels of complete reporting, TREND guidelines be used in reports on experimental studies.

Asian Oncology Nursing 2012;12(4):247-256
PURPOSE: In this study, the articles which developed and applied nursing interventions for patients with cancer were reviewed and analyzed. METHODS: The analysis was performed in light of 171 pieces of literature on nursing interventions for patients with cancer published between 1991 and 2010. RESULTS: Approximately half of the studies have been published between 2006 and 2010. The quasi-experimental designs using nonequivalent control group and no-synchronized design were the most common form of research design among the 71 papers constituting 41.52% of the total. The most commonly used nursing intervention was education (25.2%), followed by massage (20.4%) and exercise (11.5%). The most common outcome variable was anxiety (11.8%), followed by pain (8.0%) and nausea and vomiting (7.3%). CONCLUSION: The results of this study can provide useful information for the development of nursing interventions in specialized areas. Systematic literature review or meta-analysis is needed in this area.

Journal of Korean Oncology Nursing 2010;10(2):146-155
PURPOSE: This study was conducted in order to analyze themes, concepts, research methods and results of previous domestic research on the nursing of hematologic patients conducted through the last 10 yr, to find trends in the research, and to provide basic materials for setting the direction of future research on the nursing of hematologic patients. METHODS: This study analyzed a total of 72 nursing theses related to hematology sampled from domestic theses for a master's or doctoral degree and papers published in six nursing journals registered in Korea Research Foundation from January 2000 to July 2009. RESULTS: Of the 72 theses, 51 were for a master's degree, 7 for a doctoral degree, and 14 not for an academic degree. The concept covered most frequently in correlation research was 'quality of life' and concepts found in comparative research were stress and quality of life. In experimental research, the most common nursing intervention was oral care. The scale used most frequently was Spielberger's Anxiety Scale. CONCLUSION: It is necessary to expand experimental research applying nursing interventions, and to use objective physiological indexes for more effective assessment in experimental research. Furthermore, interdisciplinary research is required for enhancing the quality of clinical nursing research.

10.Interrater Reliability in the Content Analysis of Preparatory Information for Mechanically Ventilated Patients.
Journal of Korean Academy of Fundamental Nursing 1998;5(2):269-279
In nursing research that the data is collected through clinical observation, analysis of clinical recording or coding of interpersonal interaction in clinical areas, testing and reporting interrater reliability is very important to assure reliable results. Procedures for interrater reliability in these studies should follow two steps. The first step is to determine unitizing reliability, which is defined as consistency in the identification of same data elements in the record by two or more raters reviewing the same record. Unitizing reliability have been rarely reported in previous studies. Unitizing reliability should be tested before progressing to the next step as precondition. Next step is to determine interpretive reliability. Cohen's kappa is a preferable method of calculating the extent of agreement between observer or judges because it provides beyonds-chance agreement. Despite its usefulness, kappa can sometimes present paradoxical conclusions and can be difficult to interpret. These difficulties result from the feature of kappa which is affected in complex way s by the presence of bias between observers ad by true prevalence of certain categories. therefore, percentage agreement should be reported with kappa for adequate interpretation of kappa. The presence of bias should be assessed using the bias index and the effect of prevalence should be assessed using the prevalence index. Researchers have been reported only global reliability reflecting the extent to which coders can consistently use the whole coding system across all categories. Category-by-category reliability also need to be reported to inform the possibility that some categories are harder to use than others.
