ObjectiveTo observe the analgesic efficacy and safety of Qihuang acupuncture theory combined with opioid analgesics in patients with moderate to severe cancer pain due to lung cancer. MethodsPatients with moderate to severe cancer pain from lung cancer were randomly divided into Qihuang acupuncture group and control group， with 33 cases in each group. The control group was treated with long-acting opioid analgesics at maintenance doses and supplementary analgesic medications as needed. In case of breakthrough pain， short-acting opioids were used for rescue. The Qihuang acupuncture group received Qihuang acupuncture treatment in addition to the treatment used in the control group， administered once every other day， with 3 sessions constituting one treatment course. The treatment duration for both groups was 5 days. The primary outcome was the change in pain intensity， measured using the numerical rating scale （NRS） before and after treatment， and the NRS change rate was calculated. Secondary endpoints included the daily NRS change rate， the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group （ECOG） Performance Status （PS） score， the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Core Questionnaire （EORTC QLQ-C30） score， and the 24-hour equivalent hydrocodone sustained-release tablet dose. Laboratory tests， including routine blood， urine， stool， liver function， and kidney function， were performed before and after treatment. Adverse events were recorded throughout the trial. ResultsAll patients completed the trial， and both groups showed a decrease in average NRS scores and PS scores after treatment， with the Qihuang acupuncture group showing lower average NRS scores and PS scores than the control group （P＜0.05 or P＜0.01）. After treatment， the NRS change rate in the Qihuang acupuncture group was （0.42±0.17）， significantly higher than that in the control group （0.14±0.27， P＜0.01）. The daily NRS change rate during treatment was also higher in the Qihuang acupuncture group compared to the control group （P＜0.01）. The Qihuang acupuncture group showed an increase in overall health status and functional scores in the EORTC QLQ-C30， and a decrease in symptom scores for fatigue， nausea and vomiting， pain， dyspnea， insomnia， appetite loss， constipation， and financial difficulties. In contrast， overall health status and constipation scores in the control group increased， while scores of fatigue， nausea and vomiting， pain， and appetite loss decreased （P＜0.05 or P＜0.01）. After treatment， the 24-hour equivalent hydrocodone sustained-release tablet dose did not show significant difference in the Qihuang acupuncture group （P＞0.05）， while the control group showed a significant increase in the 24-hour dose （P＜0.01）. No significant abnormalities were observed in laboratory tests before and after treatment in either group. During the study， the incidence of nausea and vomiting as well as constipation in the Qihuang acupuncture group was both 3.03% （1/33）， while the incidence in the control group was 27.27% （9/33） and 36.36% （12/33）， respectively， with the Qihuang acupuncture group showing significantly lower incidence （P＜0.01）. No serious adverse reactions were observed in either group. ConclusionQihuang acupuncture therapy combined with opioid analgesics is more effective than using opioids alone in relieving pain in patients with moderate to severe cancer pain due to lung cancer. It can improve the patients' physical condition and quality of life， reduce the dose of opioid analgesics， and has good safety.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the therapeutic effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at Zusanli (ST36) acupoint on hyperlipidemia in mice and explore the underlying mechanisms. METHODS: Thirty C57BL/6J mice were equally randomized into normal diet group, high-fat diet (HFD) group, and EA group. The changes in blood lipids and serum malondialdehyde (MDA) content of the mice were evaluated, and histopathological changes and lipid accumulation in the liver were observed using Oil red O staining (ORO). The expressions of NLRP3, TLR4, and IL-1β proteins in the colon tissues were detected with Western blotting, and gut microbiota changes were analyzed using 16S rDNA sequencing. RESULTS: In mice with HFD feeding, 16 weeks of EA treatment significantly lowered body weight and serum TC, TG, LDL-C and MDA levels, obviously reduced lipid accumulation in the liver, and ameliorated HFD-induced elevations of protein expressions of NLRP3, TLR4, and IL-1β. 16S rRNA sequencing revealed that EA significantly altered gut microbiota composition, and increased the diversity and relative abundance of beneficial bacterial groups such as Muribaculaceae and Lachnospiraceae NK4A136_group. CONCLUSIONS Electroacupuncture at ST36 alleviates blood lipid disorders in hyperlipidemic mice possibly by improving intestinal microbiota structure, promoting degradation of high-caloric carbohydrates, cholesterol lipid metabolism and intestinal mucosa repair, and reducing toxin leakage, lipid peroxides, and liver fat deposition.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the influencing factors of the occurrence of propagated sensation effects at Zusanli (ST 36) based on artificial intelligence technology. METHODS: A total of 272 undergraduates and postgraduates of Guangzhou University of TCM were recruited. The basic information, including TCM constitution, body weight index (BMI), pulse, tongue and coating, face complexion, as well as the occurrence of propagated sensation effects at Zusanli (ST 36) with different acupuncture needles and techniques, were recorded. The repeated incremental pruning to produce error reduction (RIPPER) algorithm was applied to predict the results and summarize the rules of relevant factors. RESULTS: ① The propagated sensation effects were often observed in the subject with -deficiency constitution (55 cases in total, of them 1 case was misclassified). ② The propagated sensation effects were observed in the subject with balanced - constitution (39 cases in total, of them 0 case was misclassified). ③ The propagated sensation effects were observed in the subject with phlegm-damp constitution combined with thin tongue and white coating (31 cases in total, of them 8 cases were misclassified). ④ The propagated sensation effects were observed in the subject with phlegm-damp constitution combined with light tongue coating (7 cases in total, of them 2 cases were misclassified). ⑤ The propagated sensation effects were observed in all the subject with special constitution (6 cases in total, of them 0 cases were misclassified). ⑥ The propagated sensation effects were not observed in the subject with other constitution or the combination of constitution and symptoms (134 cases in total, of them 4 cases were misclassified). The accuracy rate of classification was 94.49%. The difference of acupuncture needles and techniques was not significant in propagated sensation effects (>0.05). CONCLUSION The TCM constitution may be the most essential factor in the occurrence of propagated sensation effects.

Objective To observe the effect of JIN’s three needle therapy plus mirror therapy for knee joint movement on lower-limb function of patients with hemiplegia after cerebral infarction.Method Seventy-four patients with hemiplegia after cerebral infarction were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 37 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened by JIN’s three needle therapy plus mirror therapy for knee joint movement, while the control group was by mirror therapy for knee joint movement alone. After 4-week treatment, the Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) and modified Barthel Index (MBI) were adopted for evaluating motor function of the affected limb and the activities of daily living (ADL), the Functional Ambulation Category scale (FAC) for assessing the walking ability, and the Twichell-Brunnstrom Stages of Stroke Recovery for determining the stage of post-stroke hemiplegia. Result After the intervention, the FMA and MBI scores were significantly changed in both groups (P<0.05). The changes of FMA and MBI scores in the treatment group after the treatment were significantly different from those in the control group (P<0.05). After the treatment, there were significant between-group differences in comparing the FAC and Brunnstrom grading results (P<0.05).Conclusion JIN’s three needle therapy plus mirror therapy for knee joint movement is an effective approach in treating hemiplegia after cerebral infarction, and it can improve the lower-limb motor function and the ADL.

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of suspending-needle therapy combined with modified Zhengan Xifeng Decoction for the treatment of primary facial spasm,and to explore an effective traditional Chinese medicine therapy for primary facial spasm.Methods A total of 65 qualified patients were randomly divided into trial group (33 cases) and control group(32 cases),which was treated with suspending-needle therapy combined with modified Zhengan Xifeng Decoction,Carbamazepine tablets respectively.Twenty-eight days constituted one course of treatment.After treatment for one course,therapeutic efficacy of the two groups was evaluated,and the degree of facial spasm was assessed.Results (1) After one course of treatment,the markedly-effective rate of the trial group was 84.8％,and that of the control group was 62.5％,the difference being significant(P ＜ 0.05).(2) After treatment,the degree of facial spasm in the two groups was much improved as compared with that of the control group (P ＜ 0.05 or P ＜ 0.01),and the improvement in the trial group was superior to that in the control group (P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion Suspending-needle therapy combined with modified Zhengan Xifeng Decoction has better effect on relieving facial spasm of the primary facial spasm patients than Carbamazepine tablets.

Objective To determine the influencing factors of post-stroke depression by machine learning.Methods Stroke patients' medical records (688 cases eligible) were extracted from record system,including age,gender,pulse manifestation,complexion,tongue quality,fur,Chinese medicine intervention,body mass index (BMI),blood pressure,blood glucose,blood triglyceride,blood total cholesterol,smoking history,drinking history,depression family history,stroke lesion site in imaging,as well as the final depression judgment.Single rule algorithm (1R) was adopted to learn.The risk factors influencing post-stroke patients' depression in extracted information were determined.Then the cases collected were divided into the training dataset (500 cases) and the test dataset (188cases).Optimal discriminant results were obtained by random forest model.Results Single rule algorithm showed that the most important influencing factor of post-stroke depression was stroke lesion site.By computer speculation,stroke lesions in the frontal and temporal lobes were most prone to post-stroke depression.Basal ganglia,brain stem,cerebellum,medulla oblongata and occipital lobe lesions were less likely to cause depression.The accurate classification rate could amount to 88.95％ (612/688 cases).Random forest model determination was made in the former 500cases in the training dataset.The total correct rate of determining depression was 98.2％.The total correct rate of determination in 188 cases of the test dataset was 99.47％.Six hundred and eighty-eight patients' data were learnt by random forest model.The total correct rate was 98.84％.The importance measure results showed that top 3 important indexes of post-stroke depression were lesion site,Chinese medicine intervention and depression family history.Conclusion Patients with lesions in the frontal & temporal lobes and depression family history were most prone to post-stroke depression.

Objective To evaluate the effect of Tai Chi exercise on cognitive function of the aged.Methods Searched China National Knowledge Infrastructure database,Wanfang data knowledge service platform,Chongqing VIP Chinese science and technology periodical database,China biomedical literature database,PubMed,The Cochrane Library and Embase.Collected the clinical research literature in which the elder population practiced Tai Chi and cognitive function outcomes were researched.Conducted Cochrane bias risk assessment.Conducted systematic review and Meta-analysis for the effective information.Results Included 8 randomized controlled trials in total.All studies were described as random,but only two studies described the random method,with one study with blinding.The overall methodological quality was low.Meta-analysis results showed that,the cognitive function outcome evaluation in the aged with cognitive function defect,the overall cognitive function [MD =0.91,95％ CI (0.37,1.46),I2=0,P=0.001],language fluency [MD=2.17,95％CI (0.88,3.45),I2=0,P＜0.001] and delayed recall test [MD =0.7,95％ CI (0.29,1.11),I2 =0,P ＜0.001] evaluation in the Tai Chi group were significantly better than that in the control group,with no significant improvement in memory span [MD =0.16,95％ CI (-0.14,0.45),I2 =55 ％,P =0.30].In the outcome indicators evaluation of the healthy elder people,the overall cognitive function evaluation [MD =0.7,95％ CI (0.11,1.29),P =0.02] in the Tai Chi group was significantly better than the control group.In language fluency evaluation [MD =0.32,95％ CI (0.01,0.64),I2 =0 P =0.05],the difference was not statistically significant,but there is a potential advantage;in evaluation of execution of test line A (TMT-A) [MD =1.53,95％ CI (0.1,2.96),I2 =26％,P =0.04],the Tai Chi group was better than the control group;in evaluation of execution of test line B (TMT-B) [MD =1.24,95％CI (-5.20,7.67),I2 =94％,P =0.71] the difference between the Tai Chi group and the control group was not significant.Conclusion Tai Chi could effectively improve cognitive function of the healthy elder people and those with cognitive impairment.

Objective To clinically observe and verificate the advantages of treating infantile anorexia of spleen-dysfunction in transportation with infantile massage and Chinese medicine based on the thought of “invigo-rating spleen and nourishing qi”. Methods Multi-central large-sample randomized controlled trial was carried out in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Foshan. Five hundreds cases of infantile anorexia of spleen-dysfunction in transportation were randomized into infantile massage group, Chinese medicine group, infantile massage combined with Chinese medicine group and Western medicine group and two sessions of treatment were required in each group. Separately, during the enrollment, after 2 sessions of treatment, infantile anorexia signs and symptoms scale , the related therapeutic effect criterion from clinical guideline of new drugs for traditional Chinese medicine, the expression level of hemoglobin and blood zinc were adopted for efficacy assessment. Results A mong 4 groups , the recovery rate and the total effective rate of infantile massage combined with Chinese medicine group were better than those of other groups (P < 0.05). The expression level of hemoglobin and blood zinc of 4 groups both increased obviously (all P < 0.01), but more improvement was found in infantile massage combined with Chinese medicine group (both P < 0.05). Conclusion The treatment of infantile anorexia with infantile massage and Chinese medicine based on the thought of invigorating spleen and nourishing qi has a significant effect.

Objective To observe the efficacy of electroacupuncture(EA) on the acupoint combination of He-(sea) points, front-mu points, and shu-points(abbrev. He-Mu-Shu) for the treatment of functional diarrhea, and to explore the effect of He-Mu-Shu point combination EA on the anxiety of patients. Methods A randomized controlled clinical trial was performed in 62 functional diarrhea patients. All of the patients were randomly divided into He-Mu-Shu group(32 cases) and medicine group(30 cases). He-Mu-Shu group was treated with EA on unilateral Quchi, Shangjuxu, Tianshu, Dachangshu point alternatively, and medicine group was treated with oral use of Loperamide hydrochloride capsules. Both groups were treated for 4 continuous weeks. Defecation frequency, stool property and anxiety scores were observed before treatment and 2, 4 weeks after treatment. Results After treatment, weekly defecation frequency, stool property and anxiety scores were improved in both groups, and the differences were statistically significant compared with those before treatment(P < 0.05). He-Mu-Shu point combination EA had better effect on improving weekly defecation frequency, stool property and anxiety scores of functional diarrhea patients than Loperamide hydrochloride capsules, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion The clinical efficacy and anxiety-relief action of He-Mu-Shu point combination EA on functional diarrhea are superior to oral use of Loperamide hydrochloride capsules.
