2.Lumbar epidural injection of methylene blue affects the spinal cord and spinal ganglia structures
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(38):6160-6164
BACKGROUND:Methylene blue can hinder abnormal pain conduction via the sensory nerve, and its mechanism is to block bradykinin-induced hyperalgesia and eliminate pain caused by local tissue inflammation.
OBJECTIVE:To observe the influence of methylene blue solution on the lumbar spinal cord and spinal ganglia function of rats, and to investigate whether methylene blue is safe for treating discogenic low back pain.
METHODTotal y 120 Wistar rats were randomly divided into five groupthree experimental groups, a saline control group and a blank control group, n=24 in each group. Lumbar segmental dura was exposed in rats. In the three experimental groups, 0.2, 1, and 2 mL methylene blue were injected epidural y, respectively. The saline control group was subjected to the epidural injection of 1 mL saline. In the blank control group, there was no treatment. Six rats from each group were selected randomly and perfused at 30 minutes, 2 hours, 24 hours, 72 hours after injection, respectively. Then, the corresponding segments of the spinal cord and ganglions were removed. Hematoxylin eosin staining was used for comparing histological and structural changes under light microscope.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Hematoxylin-eosin staining showed that at 30 minutes, 2 hours, 24 hours and 72 hours after injection of methylene blue, the spinal dorsal side exhibited the structural integrity, clear boundaries between the white matter and gray matter, dense nerve fibers in the white matter, and round or oval nuclei of glial cells among fibers;dense nerve fibers in the posterior horn of gray matter;light-colored neuronal nuclei with prominent nucleoli;a bundle of nerve fibers among cellpopulations. There was no significant change in tissue structure of lumbar spinal cord and spinal ganglia between the experimental groups and the saline control group or between the experimental groups and the blank control group. Thus, the epidural injection of 1%methylene blue has no significant effect on the spinal cord and spinal nerve structures.

Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(09):-
Impaired ability to undergo apoptosis in response to a wide range of external stimuli acquires melanomas a selective advantage for progression and metastasis as well as their notorious resistance to therapy. Changes at genomic, transcriptional and post-translational levels of G-proteins and protein kinases (Ras) , their transcription factor effectors (c-jun,ATF2, stat3 and NF-?B) and upregulator of antiapoptosis gene (Bcl-2、Bcl-X_L、survivin、ML-IAP)affects apoptosis-induced of TNF, Fas and TRAIL receptors, which play important roles in acquiring melanoma's resistance to apoptosis. The complexity of the molecular variants involved in signal transduction along apoptotic pathways suggests that the cell may have a variety of possibilities for regulating apoptosis and generating apoptosis deficiency.

Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(09):-
Cutaneous dyschromia is a common problem of plastic and cosmetic surgery. There are not good methods to resolve this problem in present. The mechanisms of skin pigmentation process are not well understood. It is now recognized the correlation between melanogenesis and alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Alpha-msh enhances activity and quantity of tyrosinase as well as stimulates melanogenesis, specifically to stimulate eumelanin synthesis by activating the melanocortin-1 receptor (MC-1R) on melanocytes. Alpha-msh stimulates melanocyte prolixferation, formation of dendricity, and transfer of melanosomes to keratinocytes, It also protects melanocytes from the damaging effects by immunomodulation. Also, alpha-msh interact with other factors to affect pigmentation indirectly. Agouti signaling protein(ASIP) is a endogeneous antagonist of alpha-msh can induces pheomelanin synthesis by competing with alpha-msh for binding to the MC-1R.Follwing better understood the mechanisms of skin pigmented process, it will provide effective methods to resolve acquired human cutaneous hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation.

Chinese Journal of Rheumatology 2009;13(1):36-38
Objective To explore the clinical characteristics, treatment and outcomes of patients with panniculitis. Methods Clinical data of patients with panniculitis admitted to our hospital were analyzed and followed up. The disease was classified into two sub-types: cutaneous type and systemic type. The clinical profile and treatment as well as the outcomes were compared. Results The mean follow up time of 61 in-patients with panniculitis was 49.2 months (range: 2~216 months). Remission could be achieved in 17 patients, recurrent episodes happened in 26 patients. Eighteen patients turued out to be diffuse connective tissue disease (CTD), hematological disorders, malignant tumors and tuberculosis during follow-up. The age at sympton onset was 33±17 years old in 43 patients with primarily panniculitis which eutaneoua sub-tye was 12 patients and systemic sub-tye was 31 patients. The male: female ratio was 1:15. Patients with systemic sub-type were associated with liver (25 patients), spleen (23 patients), respiratory system (11 patients), kidney (12 patients), and circulatory (3 patients) system involvement. Nine patients with systemic sub-type presen-ted white blood cell decrease while none of in the cutaneous sub-type. The difference was significant (P=0.044). Biopsy of the lesions had shown nuclear dust in 16.3% of primarily panniculitis patients. Conclusion Pannieulitis can associate with systemic rheumatic diseases, malignant tumors, hematological disorders and tuberculosis. The main systemic involvements with systemic sub-type are liver and spleen, and may have whiteblood cell decreasing. Some patients could achieve remission when treated with corticosteroids and/or immunosuppressive drugs. However, the majority of patients will have recurrences when corticosteroids is tapered.

Journal of Interventional Radiology 2009;18(12):934-936
Objective To analyze the DSA manifestations of arteriovenous fistulae in hepatic cancer and to discuss the appropriate method for obstructing the fistulae in order to improve the therapeutic results for hepatic cancer associated with arteriovenous fistulae. Methods The imaging findings in 183 patients of hepatic cancer with urteriovenous fistulae, which were. selected from 637 patients with liver cancer, were retrospectively analyzed. For cases with mild arteriovenous fistulae (n = 89) the tumor-feeding arteries were embolized after iodized oil embolization procedure, while for cases with moderate and severe aneriovenous fistulae (n = 94) the abnormal shunts were obstructed before performing chemoembolization of the tumor in order to ensure that the effective infusion of the drug into the lesion and the sufficient deposit of iodized oil in the tumor could be obtained. Results The tumor-feeding arteries were successfully embolized in all 89 patients with mild arteriovenous fistulae. Of 94 cases with moderate and severe arteriovenous fistulae, excellent deposit of iodized oil was seen in 64 (68.1%), incomplete embolization in 13 (14.83%), poor oil deposit due to over-embolization in 11 (11.7%) and failure to block the fistulae as the fistulae were too large or too diffuse in 6 (6.4%). No serious complications occurred. Conclusion The arteriovenous fistulae accompanied with hepatic cancer can be effectively obstructed in most patients, with resultant clinical improvement of the patients' condition. This therapeutic technique is safe and reliable.
