Journal of Jilin University(Medicine Edition) 2006;0(04):-
Objective To evaluate the prophylactic use of mitomycin-C to inhibit haze formation after photorefractive keratectomy(PRK).Methods Both a computer-aided search of Medline,OVID,CNKI,Wanfang data and an intensive search by hand were conducted to identify all randomized controlled trials assessing the effect of intraoperative using mitomycinC during PRK.Results Two studies were finally included. The Q test of homogeneity showed no difference between them(?~2=0.17,df=1,P=0.68).The OR value of the studies were 0.17[95% CI 0.05-0.53] and 0.10[95% CI 0.01-0.85],respectively;the pooled OR was 0.14 [95% CI 0.05-0.40],significant difference was found between experimental group and control group(Z=3.75,P=0.000 2).Conclusion Topical intraoperative application of 0.02% mitomycin-C can reduce haze formation in patients with highly near-sightedness after PRK.

AIM: To investigate the effects of uric acid sodium salt (UANa) as adjuvant on humoral and cellular immune response in BALB/c mice. METHODS: BALB/c mice were immunized with trichosanthin (TCS) as antigen together with UANa suspension as adjuvant. The antibody titers of IgG were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Dendritic cells (DC) were induced in vitro, the phenotypes of DC were analyzed by flow cytometry and the effect of UANa on DC maturity was evaluated. A delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) model was used to analyze the effect of UANa on cellular immune responses in vivo. The in vitro proliferation of lymphocytes was determined by ConA stimulation. RESULTS: Freunds adjuvant greatly enhanced the antibody response of mice to TCS, while UANa adjuvant failed to promote the antibody response but significantly reduced the antibody response as compared to TCS only. No effect of UANa on the expression of CD11c and CD83 in DC was observed by flow cytometry analysis. However, UANa significantly enhanced the expression of MHC II molecule. In the DTH model, UANa enhanced the degree of allergen-induced ear swelling and promoted the ability of lymphocyte proliferation in vitro. CONCLUSION: UANa suspension as adjuvant significantly enhances the cellular immune response but inhibits the humoral immune response to a certain degree, suggesting that UANa has potential application in the vaccine research.

Objective To investigate the correlation of cyclophilin A (CyPA) level in patients with essential hyperten?sion(EH)in Xinjiang Xibo and Mongolia populations and to investigate its clinical significance. Methods EH patients (n=76) and healthy control subjects (n=62) were selected from Xinjiang Xibo populations. On the other hand, EH patients (n=66)and healthy control subjects (n=57) were selected from Xinjiang Mongolia populations. Serum cyclophilin A was measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Parameters such as age, body mass index(BMI), waist, waist hip ratio, blood pressure were measured in each group. The correlation of cyclophilin A with each parameter was analyzed. Results The levels of serum cyclophilin A in EH patients in Xinjiang Xibo and Xinjiang Mongolia populations were significantly high?er than those in their corresponding healthy control groups(P<0.05). Serum cyclophilin A in patients with essential hyperten?sion(EH)in Xinjiang Mongolia population was signifantly higher than that in EH patients from Xinjiang Xibo population (P<0.05). There was a positive correlation between serum cyclophilin A level and occurance of EH in both Xinjiang Xibo and Xinjiang Mongolia populations. Conclusion The serum cyclophilin A is significant higher in EH patients in both Xinji?ang Xibo and Xinjiang Mongolia populations so it is positively correlated with occurance of EH (P<0.05). Cyclophilin A lev?el is a risk factor of essential hypertension in both Xinjiang Xibo and Xinjiang Mongolia populations.

Objective To determine the changes of patients with severe pulmonary contusion and the relationship among the serum level of alpha-granular membrane protein (CD62p), the severity of injury and prognosis. Methods The serum level of CD62p, was measured in 45 patients with severe pulmonary contusion on hour 2, hour 12,day 1,3,7 after injured. Forty-five patients were divided into two groups: the survive group and the death group. The levels of CD62p between two groups were compared. Results The serum levels of CD62p in patients with severe pulmonary contusion on 12 hours, 1,3 days after injury were higher than those on 2 hours (P<0.05). The serum levels of CD62p in the survive group and death group on 2 h, 12 hours after injury were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05), and the serum levels of CD62p in the death group were higher than those in the survive group. Conclusion It was helpful in judging the severity of head in jury and prognosis to determine the serum levels of CD62p in patients with severe pulmonary contusion.

Objective To reduce the radiation dose to children from CT scanning through proper adjustment to milliamps (mAs) and scan lengths with a view to learning the relationship between scanning condition and radiation dose. Methods To compare the differences in main scanning parameters used for head, chest and abdomen at multi-detector CT examination of paediatric patients (< 1 year old,1-5 years old,6-10 years old,11-15 years old) at seven hospitals in Jiangsu province.CT dose index (CTDI) and dose-length-product (DLP) were gained by using standard children dose model (diameter 16 cm) under the same scanning conditions.Effective doses (E) at different parts of the body from children CT scanning were estimated after modification by empirical weighting factor.Statistical analyses of mAs,scan lengths and DLP were performed with SPSS 16.0 software. The differences in radiation dose due to the choice of condition of scanning were compared between two typical hospitals. Results The mean values of effective doses to paediatric patients during head, chest and abdomen CT scanning were 2.46,5.69,11.86 mSv,respectively.DLP was correlated positively with mAs and scan length (head, chest and abdomen examination,r =0.81,0.81,0.92,P <0.05).Due to higher mAs used, the effective dose from chest and abdomen CT examination among all age groups was higher than that in Germany Galanski research.Due to larger scanning length in abdominal examination among all age groups, effective doses in hospital were the highest. Conclusions Reasonablely reducing the scan length and mAs during CT scanning could lower children's CT radiation risk, while clinical diagnosis is not affected.
