Objective To detect Nogo-A proteolytic fragment in CNS injury models and investigate its proteolytic mechanism as well as potential functions. Methods Western blot was performed to detect Nogo-A proteolytic fragment after spinal cord transection, brain ischemia and KA-induced cerebral cortex injury in rats. Results We detected Nogo-A proteolytic fragment in spinal cord transection and brain ischemia models, whereas no Nogo-A proteolytic fragment was found in KA-induced cerebral cortex injury model.Conclusion\ CNS mechanical and ischemic injury may induce the degradation of Nogo-A by certain mechanisms.

Objective To explore how to apply SWOT analysis method for analysis in nursing management in special wards,to develop individualized measures, and to evaluate the clinical quality of care. Methods Using SWOT analysis method to investigate the internal strengths factors, internal weaknesses factors, external opportunities factors, and external threats factors and arranged as a matrix in accordance with a certain order, and used systems analysis methods to analyze the factors matching each other,to dr aw the appropriate conclusions, and to develop appropriate countermeasures.30 patients before and 40 patients after the application of SWOT analysis method were selected for effect comparison. Results After the implementation of SWOT analysis method primary care,I-level care, health education quality, satisfaction degree of patients and ward management score were better than those before the implementation. Conclusions SWOT analysis method was intuitive and simple to use.It possesses balance and systematieness, which is suitable for clinical care management.

Objective To investigate the expression pattern and possible function of Nogo-A during neuronal growth. Methods E18 rat hippocampal neurons were primarily cultured both in high-density and low-density conditions. Immunohistochemistry and Western blot were performed to detect Nogo-A expression and distributional changes. Results Nogo-A was found in hippocampal neurons, mainly located in the cytoplasm, plasma membrane and neurites. It was detected at the proximal part of all neurites before axon formation. In axons, Nogo-A was enriched in the distal segment and axonal growth cone. In mature neurons, the fiber net work displayed a large number of Nogo-A immunoreactive varicosities. Conclusion The present results indicate that the neuronal Nogo-A may be involved in the process of neurite outgrowth and axonal projection.

Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2013;19(9):860-862
Objective To explore the characteristics of gait of old hemiplegic patients. Methods 22 old hemiplegic patients were investigated with Motion Analysis. Results The bilateral support phase increased, especially for the affected lateral. The swing phase decreased, as well as the frequency, step length, stride length and walking speed. Their heads flexed forward, but trunks remained upright. The motion of range of shoulder and elbow decreased in the affected lateral (P<0.05), and the angle of flexion and adduction in the affected shoulder and flexion in elbow increases (P<0.05). The motion of range of the affected hip, knee and ankle decreased (P<0.05). Conclusion The walking ability impaired in the old hemiplegic patients, with upper limbs spasticity, vision compensation, etc.

A biomedical entity association evolution network was constructed by mining the implicit associations in PubMed-covered literature, which can help scientific researchers to form new scientific hypotheses, to analyze the topological features of associated network, to study the scientific literature-enriched knowledge structure, associa-tions, development rules, to introduce new visual angles and methods for literature-based knowledge discovery, and to improve the knowledge discovery efficiency.

Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2011;17(1):83-84
ObjectiveTo study the effect of rehabilitation on psychological health in first schizophrenic patients. Methods86 patients were divided into observation group and control group equally. Patients in both groups received medical treatment and routine health education. Patients in observation group received rehabilitation in addition. They were assessed with Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90)before and 8 weeks after treatment.ResultsAfter treatment, the scores of SCL-90 in both groups reduced significantly (P<0.05), and less in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.01).ConclusionRehabilitation can improve the psychological health for patients with first schizophrenia.

The comprehensive and precise functional evaluation is imperative in finding the disabilities of patients with quadriplegia, and it is the basement of providing appropriate rehabilitation training. The predominant instruments which have been used to evaluate the functional capacity of the quadriplegics include Barthel Index,Functional Independence Measure,Quadriplegia Index of Function,a short-form of Quadriplegia Index of Function Scale and Spinal Cord Independence Measure. The purpose of this article is to introduce the characters of each instrument above in functional evaluation for quadriplegics and the comparison among them.

Osteocalcin is one of the biochemical markers of bone metabolism, produced by mature osteoblasts. It has been shown that serum osteocalcin is a marker of osteoblastic activity, and the levels reflect the rate of bone formation and bone turnover. Bone metabolism after spinal cord injury (SCI) initially reflects a disproportion between highly bone resorption and almost normal or lightly elevated bone formation, indicating an increase in bone turnover. Osteocalcin and other biochemical markers may be helpful to know the bone metabolism after SCI and to evaluate the effect of all kinds of methods in treating and preventing osteoporosis after SCI.
