Objective To investigate the effects of pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate(PDTC) on aquaporin-9(AQP9) expression and brain edema around the hematoma in experimental intracerebral hemorrhage(ICH).Methods 128 SD rats were randomly divided into four groups: normal group,control group,ICH group and PDTC group.According to Rosenberg's methods,the models of experimental ICH were established.The rats in PDTC group were received PDTC intraperitoneally 2 h later.The brain weight column(BWC) at different time point was calculated by gray-wet method,and the expression of AQP9 was examined by immunohistochemistry.Results The BWC and expression of AQP9 in hematoma side of ICH begin to increase 4 h after ICH,peaked at 72 h,and decreased 120 h later.The BWC in opposite side of hematoma also increased 4 h after ICH and peaked at 72 h.Compared with control group,the BWC and expression of AQP9 in ICH group were higher,especially in hematoma side of brain(all(P

Babesia parasites are obligate intracellular apicomplexan protozoa and important pathogens causing babesiosis of humans and animals. They have conserved subcellular structures and invasion mechanism. Rhoptry⁃associated proteins，which are released into the host cell，are considered to be the key molecules of invasion and replication of parasites in the host cell and are immunosuppressive factors of the host cell mediated immunity in the stage of parasitophorous vacuole（PV）formation. The knowledge about rhoptry⁃associated proteins has made a great progress with the development of genomics and proteomics，so we review the research progress in rhoptry⁃associated proteins of different Babesia including Babesia bovis，B. ovine，B. gibsoni，B. bigemina and B. orientalis，etc.

This paper discussed and elucidated the significance of establishing a corpus of English translation for the TCM terms of health preservation. To investigate the necessity and feasibility of corpus, we have explored the domestic and international researchs of the data sources and corpora and translation of TCM terms. We also predicted the prospect of application of this corpus.

Objective To explore the application value of dynamic vascular patterns(DVP) curve and parameter figure in the focal liver lesions by contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS).Methods 83 cases of focal liver lesions diagnosed by pathologically or clinically that had undergone CEUS were analyzed by SonoLiver software.Then DVP parametric images were constructed and the time-intensity curve (TIC) parameters were calculated by TIC and DVP curve.Results Rise time(RT),time to peak(TTP),maximum intensity(IMAX),mean transit (mTT),slope of rise,and the absolute value for slope of half down between malignant and benign lesions groups indicated statistically significant difference (P ＜0.05).94.9％ of type Ⅰ was malignant lesions and 100％ Ⅳ type was benign lesions.The four types of DVP curve(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ)in malignant and benign lesions were 72.5％,13.7％,13.7％,0 and 6.2％,43.8％,31.2％,18.8％,respectively.The proportion and characteristic of DVP parametric images and DVP curves in malignant and benign lesions groups were consistent.Conclusions DVP curve and parametric images of CEUS can demonstrate the difference of flow perfusion static between lesions area and surrounding liver parenchyma dynamically and directly.These are new qualitative indexes of the differential diagnosis in focal liver lesions.

Objective BOLD-fMRI was used to observe the activated auditory cortex evoked by pure tone stimuli in patients with sensorineural hearing loss and this paper is to discuss the objective measure for patient with sensorineural hearing toss. Methods BOLD-fMRI examinations were taken in 22 patients with unilateral moderate to severe sensorneural hearing loss and 15 control subjects. The volumes and intensities of the two hemispheres of the activated auditory cortex were analyzed quantitatively. Results Significant activation was found in the temporal lobe in control subjects, and significant differences in the volume and intensity were noted between the contralateral and ipsilateral activated auditory cortexes in them (P<0.01), exhibiting clearly eontralateral predominance. When the normal ear of patients with sensorineural hearing loss received signals, there was no significant difference be-tween contralateral and ipsilateral activated auditory cortexes (P>0.05). Conclusion When the normal ear of pa-tients with sensorneural hearing loss was stimulated by pure tone, the contralateral hemisphere predominance disap-peared. This result seems to show the plasticity of auditory cortex of patients with unilateral hearing loss.

Objective To evaluate the changes and clinical significance ot the serum levels of homocysteine (Hcy) in gastric cardia cancer patients before and after surgery.Methods Serum Hcy concentrations of 102 patients with gastric cardia cancer (including 69 case of males) and 50 healthy human were measured by enzymatic cycling assay.Results Total Hcy levels were significantly increased in male patient group compared with the levels in control group (t =5.143,P =0.001).Hcy levels were significantly lower in postoperative group compared with preoperative group [(17.08±5.31) μmol/L vs (20.34±9.26) μmol/L,(14.07±4.87) μmol/L vs (20.34±9.26) μmol/L,P ＜ 0.05].Compared with Ⅳ stage group and other TNM stage groups,significantly lower levels of Hcy were detected in patients with gastric cardia cancer (t =2.306,3.285,P =0.030,0.002).Hcy levels in patients with gastric cardia cancer were also significantly higher than those in the tumor length ＜ 3 cm,3-5 cm and ＞ 5 cm groups (t =2.461,2.147,P =0.017,0.038).Multiple logistic regression analysis indicated a statistically significant association between serum Hcy concentration and gastric cardia cancer incidence (OR =1.136,95 ％ CI 1.010-1.278,P =0.033).Increasing serum Hcy levels were significantly associated with a decreasing risk of metastatic lymph node (OR =0.865,P =0.010).Conclusion Serum Hcy levels are directly associated with risk of male patients with gastric cardia cancer,and play important roles in the development of gastric cardia cancer.

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of Sky Bone Expander System in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral body compression fractures in the elderly.MethodsTwenty-five cases (26 vertabrals)with osteoporotic vertebral body compression fractures were treated by Sky Bone Expander System.ResultsAll the 25 cases completed the surgery successfully,with an average operation duration of 35 min (range:30 -60 min).We injected 2.7 -4.5 ml bone cement to each vertebrae with an average of 3.5 ml.No blood vessels and nerves damage or other complications were found.The height of vertebral was restored.ConclusionSky Bone Expander System could effectively treat osteoporotic vertebral body compression fractures in the elderly.The height of vertebral could rebound and kyphosis could be improved.Furthermore,Sky Bone Expander System could relieve pain and reduce the leakage of bone cement

Objective To determine the relationship between zinc and nutritional status or immunity in patients with end-stage renal disease undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). Methods Forty-five stable CAPD patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis were enrolled in this study. The dietary zinc intake and serum zinc levels were investigated, and the results were compared with the gender- and age-matched healthy populations (n = 45). The relationship between dietary zinc intake and serum zinc levels and subjective global assessment (SGA) score, blood cell counts, serum albumin (ALB), prealbumin (PA), C-reactive protein (CRP),and lymphocyte subsets were analyzed. Results The percentages of inadequate dietary zinc intake (P= 0. 007)and low blood zinc (P = 0. 036) were significantly higher in CAPD patients than in healthy group. CD8 levels were significantly lower (P = 0. 000) while CD4/CD8 ratio was significantly higher (P = 0. 033) in CAPD patients than in healthy group. In CAPD patients, correlation analysis showed that dietary zinc intake was significantly correlated with serum prealbumin levels (r = 0. 577, P = 0. 000), but was negatively correlated with SGA score (r = - 0.354,P = 0. 015) and CRP (r = - 0.354, P = 0. 015); however, it was not significantly correlated with lymphocyte subsets and CD4/CD8 ratio. Serum zinc level was significantly positively correlated with hemoglobin (r= 0. 411, P=0.005), hematocrit (r=0.345, P=0.023), WBC (r=0.318, P=0.035), SGA score (r=0.417, P=0. 005), and CRP (r=0.342, P = 0. 027), but was not significantly correlated with lymphocyte subsets and CD4/CD8 ratio. Conclusions Zinc deficiency is common among patients with CAPD. Adequate dietary zinc intake can facilitate protein synthesis and improve the overall nutritional status. High serum zinc concentrations are beneficial for the synthesis of hemoglobin and the improvement of anemia.
