Chinese Journal of Dermatology 1995;0(04):-
The fibrinolytic function of 98 patients with SLE were determined by spectrophotometric assay and immunodiffusion, 19 patients were observed before treatment, 1 month after treatment and 3 months after the disappearance of clinical symptoms. The results showed that the low level of fibrinolytic function correlated to the severity and the refractoriness of the disease, the activity of plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI) was significantly increased in all patients. The activity ratio of tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA): PAI was significantly lower than normal level in the patients with lupus nephritis, not only the activity of PAI increased significantly, but also the activity of t-PA was significantly decreased, so the activity ratio of t-PA: PAI became much lower, the result suggested that it was related to the refractoriness of the disease. In patients in clinical remission, although the activity of PAI was still higher than normal level, the activity of t-PA was also significantly increased, therefore, the activity ratio of t-PA: PAI was nearly normal.

This study was aimed to observe effects of herbal pair of semen Ziziphi Spinosae (SZS) and A lbizia Julib-rissin flower (AJF) on cognitive function and serum BDNF among depression patients. A total of 60 depression pa-tients were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups. In the SZS-AJF group, 30 patients were administered with SZS-AJF decoction. In the control group, 30 patients were administered with venlafaxine hydrochloride sus-tained-release tablets. Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD), Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST), and the serum-brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) were detected before treatment and after six weeks of treatment. The results showed that there were no significant differences on the HAMD score, WCST (Response Administered (Ra), Categories Completed (Cc), Correct Responses (Cr), Perseverative Errors (Pe), Non-perseverative Errors (Npe)), serum BDNF before and after treatment between two groups. Compared with pretreatment, HAMD score, Ra, Cc, Cr, serum BDNF were increased after treatment in both groups. The Pe and Npe were decreased after treatment. There was sta-tistical significance between pretreatment and posttreatment (P< 0.05, or P< 0.01). It was concluded that the herbal pair of SZS-AJF has anti-depressant effect. It can improve cognitive function of depression patients. The anti-de-pressant mechanism of herbal pair of SZS-AJF may be related to the increasing of serum BDNF level.

Objective To explore the impact of medication self-management module on treatment compli-ance and social function of patients with schizophrenia. Methods 66 inpatients with schizophrenia in their non-acute stage were randomly divided into training group(n=33) and control group(n=33). Both groups received the anti-psychotics therapy. Medication self-management module was only given to the training group for 8 weeks. All subjects were follow up for 6 months and were evaluated with self-made drug treatment compliance rating scale,self-made work ability rating scale, social disability screening schedule(SDSS). Results Treatment compliance, the total scores of SDSS of training group were significantly higher than that of control group after 8 weeks and 6 months: treatment compliance (χ~2=9.188,29.630, P < 0.01); the total scores of SDSS ((2.63±2.74) vs (5.27 ±3.05), (1.69±2.35) vs (4.91±3.06), P=0.000); work ability of training group was significantly higher than that of control group after 6 months (χ~2=19.443, P=0.000). Treatment compliance (χ~2=8.053, P=0. 018), the total scores of SDSS((2.63±2.74) vs (6.81±3.06), P=0.000) of training group after 8 week and 6 months were significantly higher than that of pretraining. Treatment compliance and work ability of both groups on 6 months follow up were significantly lower than that of 8 weeks (P < 0.01). Correlation analysis can-firmed that there was positive relation between the total scores of SDSS and treatment compliance, work ability on 6 months later. Conclusion Medication self-management module could significantly improve treatment compliance, social function and work ability of patients with schizophrenia.

Four cell lines (C6, H6, B6, 2H6) of hybrids secreting monoclonal antibodies (McAb) against erythrocytic stage of Plasmodium falciparum Fcc7801/HN were established by fusing SP2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells of BALB/c mice immuniaed with the preparation of the same malaria parasite and cloning three times. Of these four lines, C6 and B6 showed significant growth-inhibition of P. falciparum in vitro. Both C6 and B6 McAb recognized 71 kD antigen of P. falciparum by Western Blotting. The results indicate that the 71 kD antigen is of immune protection The four McAb showed cross immunofluorescence reactivity with P. falcipanum Fcc-1/HN, Fcc7802/HN, Fcc8703/JS and P. berghei. P. cynomolgi. It indicates that there are common epitopes among these malaria parasites, and that it is important in immunologic research and serodiagnosis of malaria

The erythropoietin(EPO) system was used to study the molecular mechanisms associated with the induction of hypoxia responsive genes and from these investigations the hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs) was identified as a key transcriptional hypoxic regulator of EPO. Subsequent research has now found that a large number of other hypoxia-inducible genes are also induced by HIF under hypoxic conditions. The HIF transcriptional complex is a heterodimer consisting of an alpha subunit and a beta subunit. Recently, two oxygen sensor, oxygen-dependent prolyl and asparaginyl hydroxylation were found, and it is the first time that the oxygen sensor had been described for higher organisms. This review focused on the structure and functions of HIF and the regulation of HIF proteins by hypoxia and oxygen sensors.
