Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2006;10(46):223-225
OBJECTIVE: Recent studies of mental health status in undergraduates are reviewed by literatures in mental health standard, measurement and influential factors. It is aimed to analyze the current status of mental health in undergraduates and provide references for related research of mental health, psychological counseling and psychological health in undergraduates. DATA SOURCES: The China Journal Full-text Database (CJFD) and Wanfang database were undertaken to id entify related articles published from January 1995 to August 2005 with the key words of "psyche of undergraduate, mental health, health standard" in Chinese. References of retrieved articles were searched. Mental health related books were retrieved such as Health Psychology, Psychic Health Measurement and so on.STUDY SELECTION: The data were selected primarily, and related articles of mental health standard, measurement and influential factors were included. Studies unrelated to undergraduates were screened out, and fulltexts of the other literatures were looked up.DATA EXTRACTION: A total of 40 articles of mental health standard, measurement and influential factors in undergraduates were selected, of which 17 articles accorded with topic and content were collected. There were 4 articles of mental health standard, 6 literatures (listing 6 types and 20 kinds of questionnaires and tests) of measurement and 7 literatures (6articles) of influential factors.DATA SYNTHESIS: Main content of mental health was intellective health, emotional health and spiritual health. ①No mental health standard was authorized and generally accepted in internal and external studies at present. The four signs of mental health designed by World Psychiatric Association (WPA) were praised and identified, which were harmony of body, intelligence and emotion; adaptation of the environment and modesty in each other; well-being; bringing ones ability into full play and living effective living. Mental health standard of Chinese undergraduates was composed of normal cognition, good emotion, perfect personality, coordinated interpersonal relation and appropriate self-consciousness. ②Present commonly used-mental health measurement for undergraduates was various, but there still was some disadvantage. Big Five Questionnaire (BFQ) and University Personality Inventory (UPI) were commonly used at abroad. Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90) was commonly used at home. ③Major factors influencing mental health of undergraduates were family, environment, age, sex, school, subject, religion and so on, and speciality had obvious effect on mental health of undergraduates.CONCLUSION: The importance of mental health of undergraduates is realized gradually by scholars, and more and more scholars at home and abroad study the mental health of undergraduates. How to design exact mental health standard and precise mental health measurement for undergraduates deserve further investigation. Meanwhile, it is necessary to deeply analyze the correlation between speciality and mental health of undergraduates.Fan BB, Zhang CH.Standard and evaluation of mental health in undergraduates.

Objective To study the predictive value of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) to perineonate mortality in early onset severe pre-eclampsia (EOSPE) pregnant women. Methods Seventy-five pregnant women with EOSPE (EOSPE group) and 75 pregnant women with gestational hypertension (control group) were selected. The serum tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-2 and hs-CRP levels were detected. The data of perineonate death in EOSPE group were recorded, then the pregnant women were divided into death subgroup and survival subgroup. Results The hs-CRP, TNF-αand IL-2 levels in EOSPE group were significantly higher than those in control group:(7.2 ± 2.1) mg/L vs. (2.5 ± 1.0) mg/L, (28.9 ± 5.3) ng/L vs. (12.4 ± 3.5) ng/L and (134.3 ± 34.6) ng/L vs. (104.2 ± 28.5) ng/L, and there were statistical differences (P<0.05). In EOSPE group, 18 perineonates died (death subgroup), and 57 perineonates were survival (survival subgroup). The hs-CRP in death subgroup was significantly higher than that in survival subgroup: (8.9 ± 1.3) mg/L vs. (7.1 ± 1.2) mg/L, and there was statistical difference (P<0.05). But there were no statistical differences in TNF-αand IL-2 between death subgroup and survival subgroup (P>0.05). Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis result showed that the best threshold of hs-CRP for predicting the perineonate mortality caused by EOSPE was 7.98 mg/L, and the area under the curve was 0.779 (95%CI 0.637 to 0.922), with a sensitivity of 0.83 and a specificity of 0.68. Conclusions Inflammatory reaction is involved in the pathophysiological process of EOSPE, and hs-CRP is a good index to predict perineonate death in EOSPE pregnant women.

Objective To investigate the level of illness uncertainty and coping styles of parents of children with diabetes mellitus and their relationship, and provide theoretical basis of clinical intervention. Methods Totally 155 patients of children with diabetes mellitus were investigated with General Information Questionnaire, Parents′ Perception of Uncertainty Scale (PPUS) and Coping Health Inventory for Parents (CHIP) to analyze the correlation between illness uncertainty of parents and its influencing factors and coping styles. Results The total score of illness uncertainty was 80.15±10.38 in parents of children with diabetes mellitus. There was significant difference in total uncertainty score in parents with different number of children, parent′s age, education degree, profession, economic conditions and locations (P < 0.05). Coping style, education and Parent′s age entered into the multiple linear regression equation of illness uncertainty, predicting 23.2% of total variation in illness uncertainty. The level of illness uncertainty was negatively associated with coping styles (P < 0.01). Conclusions The illness uncertainty was at higher levels in parents of children with diabetes mellitus. Clinical nurses should measure illness uncertainty of parents of children with diabetes mellitus and improve their coping capacity to reduce illness uncertainty, so as to provide better services of family and promote the quality of life for children .

Objective To investigate the association between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and metabolism or carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) in Type 2 diabetic(T2DM). Methods According to the liver B-ultrasonography, a total of 321 T2DM patients were divided into two groups, with or without NAFLD. Metabolic indexes such as BMI, BP, blood glucose, blood lipid, uric acid ( UA ), insulin, C-peptipe,insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR) between the two groups were compared, and the relationships between alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and the above indexes were analyzed. Furthermore, the CIMT of the two groups were compared, and the relationships between NAFLD, ALT and CIMT were investigated by correlation and regression analysis. Results Compared with the group without NAFLD, the patients with NAFLD had higher level of BMI, triglyceride ( TG ), UA, fasting blood glucose ( FBG ), fasting insulin ( FIns ), fasting C peptide (FCP) ,HOMA-IR,and lower level of high density lipoprotein ( HDL-C ) significantly; BMI ( OR = 1.25, P <0. 001 ), TG ( OR = 1.74, P = 0. 008 ) and HOMA-IR ( OR = 2. 33, P = 0.010) were independent risk factors of NAFLD while H DL-C was independent protective factor; ALT was positively correlated with BMI (r = 0. 255, P <0. 001 ) ,TG(r =0. 156,P <0. 018) ,UA(r =0. 239,P <0. 001 ) ,FIns(r =0. 213,P =0. 001) ,FCP(r =0. 199,P <0. 003), HOMA-IR ( r = 0. 247, P < 0. 001 ) and negatively correlated with HDL-C ( r = - 0. 199, P =0. 002) ,and BMI (β =0. 456,P =0. 048) ,UA (β =0. 021 ,P =0. 025) and HOMA-IR(β =3.634 ,P =0. 004)were independent associated facrors. The difference of CIMT between the two groups didn't reach statistical significance, while mutiple regression analysis revealed that ALT was independently associated with CIMT(β =0. 002,P = 0. 013). Conclusion T2DM patients with NAFLD show more serious disorder of metabolism and insulin resistance. ALT is an independent risk factor of CIMT in T2DM patients.

To explore the role of heme oxygenase (HO)-1 experimental system in dachengqitang (DD) ameliorating ALI induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in mice. Seventy-five male Kunming mice were randomly divided into control group (normal saline was instilled intratracheally(50 microL/per mouse), LPS group (LPS was instilled intratracheally to replicate ALI model), DD + LPS group, DD + LPS + ZnPP (ZnPP, HO-1 specific inhibitor) group and the DD group. Mice were killed at 6 h after administration. Lung indexes were tested; lung histomorphological changes were observed under microscope, and neutrophils (PMN) number and protein content of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were measured; HO-1 mRNA and protein expression in lung tissue were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot. The results showed that intratracheal instillation of LPS in mice can cause significant morphological changes in lung tissue. Both PMN numbers and protein content in BALF were increased. meanwhile the expressions of HO-1 mRNA and protein in lung tissue were increased. Pretreated with DD and then intratracheally instillated LPS coulde ameliorat lung tissue injury, reduced PMN BALF number and protein content, but increase HO-1 mRNA and protein expression in the lung tissue when compared with LPS. HO-1 inhibitor ZnPP coulde inhibite the ameliorative effect of DD. The results suggest that the ameliorative effect of DD on ALI induced by LPS in mice were related with upregulation HO-1 mRNA and protein.

Objective To design and synthesize a novel paclitaxel loaded nanoparticle with reactive oxygen species (ROS) response, and characterize its structure, and investigate its stability, in vitro drug responsive release, cellular uptake and in vitro antitumor activity. Methods The PEG-2S-PTX monomer was synthesized by coupling the hydrophilic polyethylene glycol (PEG) with hydrophobic paclitaxel (PTX) via a thioether chain (2S), and the prodrug nanoparticles (PEG-2S-PTX NPs) were prepared by self-assembly. Meanwhile, using succinic anhydride (SA) as the linking group to synthesize the PEG-SA-PTX monomer and prepare the other prodrug nanoparticles (PEG-SA-PTX NPs) as control. The structures of PEG-2S-PTX and PEG-SA-PTX monomer were confirmed by 1H-NMR. The diameter and stability of the nanoparticles were detected by dynamic light scattering (DLS). The PTX release kinetics under oxidizing condition was detected by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. And the cellular uptake efficiency of nanoparticles by MCF-7 cells was observed by fluorescence microscope. The in vitro antitumor effects of nanoparticles were compared by MTT assay. Results PEG-2S-PTX and PEG-SA-PTX could both be self-assemble into nanoparticles with the diameter of (92.15±12.42) nm and (113.20±12.16) nm. PEG-2S-PTX NPs could rapidly release PTX under oxidative condition while PEG-SA-PTX NPs only showed weak responsiveness. PEG-2S-PTX NPs could be more rapidly taken up by MCF-7 cells compared with PEG-SA-PTX NPs. They both showed concentration dependent anti-tumor effects, but the cytotoxicity of PEG-2S-PTX NPs was stronger than that of PEG-SA-PTX NPs in the concentrations of 0.05, 0.1, 5, 10, 50 and 100 mg/L (P<0.05). Conclusion As paclitaxel prodrug nanoparticles with ROS responsive ability, PEG-2S-PTX NPs can rapidly release PTX in response to ROS in tumor cells, and exhibit great anti-tumor activity in vitro.
