Objective To explore the expression of serine/threonine kinase 15 (STK15) gene and its significance for papillary thyroid carcinoma. Methods SP immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of STK15 gene in 71 cases of papillary thyroid carcinoma and 45 cases nodular goiter tissue. Results The positive expression rates of STK15 gene in 71 cases of papillary thyroid carcinoma were 100%, and the adjacent of papillary thyroid carcinoma expressions of STK15 gene 8.5%, nodular goiter tissue of STK15 gene expression rates 24.4%. The expression of STK15 gene was positively correlated with that of STK15 gene in papillary thyroid carcinoma (P < 0.01). Conclusion High expression of STK15 gene is confirmed in papillary thyroid carcinoma. The detection of STK15 gene can provide valuable evidence for diagnosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma and evaluation of the malignant potential of nodular goiter.

The experiment was conducted between February 2004 and May 2006 at The Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, Harbin, Heilongjiang province, China. Forty hybrid pigs were used in the experiment, 20 were used as donors and the other 20 were used as recipients. Donor operation: Abdominal aorta was lavaged in situ with 500 mL 4℃ heparinized saline (lavage pressure 7.8-9.8 kPa), intestinal canal cut from donor was conserved in 4℃ physiological saline.Recipient operation: Orthotopic small intestine transplantation and heterotopic small intestine transplantation were conducted according to exploring results, and abdominal cavity was washed with 40-45℃ physiological saline until the flush out liquid became warm.Periprocedural management: Preoperative discussion and postoperative discussion were done, and body temperature of pigs was monitoring and controlled. Early-stage feeding was used, 4 pigs could drink water freely after transplantation and took food normally at the second day, while other 16 pigs began to drink water 2 days after transplantation. Evaluation after the operation: No experimental animal had anastomotic leakage after taking food. Sixteen pigs survived over 7 days, average 9 days, the longest over 14 days. The success rate of the small intestine transplantation is 80% (16/20). Failure reasons: One with phlebothrombesis, one with blood loss and two with unknown reasons. Results showed that experience of periprocedural management had got relatively satisfactory effects through a great quantity of small intestine transplantation practices.

Objective To assess the health status of rodent laboratory animals by pathological diagnosis, our lab has being take apart in investigating the quality of laboratory animals in Beijing area for years and offer some advices for standardized breeding to ensure accurate results of scientific research. This paper focuses on the analysis of laboratory rodent samples that collected in October 2014.Methods We collected the heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney, large intestine and small intestine, and put these organs into 10%Calcium formaldehyde solution for fixation, and then prepared into two different sections for optical microscopy observation including all paraffin specimens stained with H&E and the frozen sections stained with Oil Red-O and PAS.Results The vast majority of laboratory rodents were up to standard, but there still a problem in individual units. The main problem is liver and lung disease. The rate of Hepatocyte swellingis 6%(mouse), 2.5% (rat), 8.2% (guinea pig), moreover part of them were lipidosis, according to Oil Red-O stain.the mainly problem of lung is congestion ,edema and Interstitial pneumonia ,the detectable rate of pulmonarydiseases is 15.5%(guinea pig). Conclusions The vast majority of laboratory rodents were pathologically diagnosed as healthy animals. The liver disease may be caused by improper feeding. And disease of lung may led by haze, unqualified bedding and low temperature.
