Methods: Twenty-five children with microcephaly were treated by scalp acupuncture as main therapy plus point injection. The children's intelligence was tested by China-Wechsler's intelligence scale before and after treatment. Results and Conclusion: Acupuncture can improve intelligence and especially has significant effect on verbal intelligence quotient in microcephaly children.
2.Clinical observation on electroacupuncture plus Jiawei Jinhuanggao (Supplemented Golden Yellow Paste) for gouty arthritis
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2016;14(1):50-54
Objective:To observe the clinical effect of electroacupuncture (EA) plus self-made Jiawei Jinhuanggao (Supplemented Golden Yellow Paste) for gouty arthritis. Methods:A total of 80 cases with gouty arthritis were randomly allocated into an observation group (n=40) and a Western medication group (n=40). Cases in the observation group received EA and external application of self-madeJiawei Jinhuanggao(Supplemented Golden Yellow Paste), whereas cases in the Western medication group took Colchicine and Allopurinol tablets orally. After 10 d of treatment, the pain, joint swelling and uric acid in blood were observed. In addition, the follow-up was conducted 6 months after end of the treatment to evaluate the long-term effect. Results:After treatment, there were no between-group statistical differences in pain and uric acid in blood (P>0.05); and there were between-group statistical differences in joint swelling and relapse rate (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 97.5% in the observation group, versus 95.0% in the Western medication group, showing no statistical difference (P>0.05).Conclusion:EA plus Jiawei Jinhuanggao (Supplemented Golden Yellow Paste) has safe and long-term efficacy for gouty arthritis efficacy.
3.Treatment of Acute Mastitis with Tuina
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2004;2(3):34-36
Objective: To observe the clinical effect of treating acute mastitis with tuina manipulation.Method: Tuina manipulation was applied to treat 32 cases in the observation group, while external Jinhuang san was applied to treat 16 cases in the control group. Result: The total effective rate in the observation group was 96.8% and the total effective rate in the control group was 87.4%. The therapeutic effect of the two groups had significant difference (P<0.01) and the treatment period and times between the two groups had significant difference as well (P<0.01). Conclusion: Tuina manipulation had better effect for acute mastitis.
4.Therapeutic Effect Observation on Combined Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine for Reflux Esophagitis
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2011;09(1):26-30
Objective:To observe the clinical effect of combined acupuncture and Chinese medicine for reflux esophagitis.Methods:120 cases with reflux esophagitis were randomly allocated into 4 groups,30 in each group,a group of combined acupuncture and Chinese medicine,a group of Chinese medicine,a group of acupuncture and agroup of Westem medication(Omeprazole Enteric-coated Capsules).Cases in the four groups were treated 60 d as one course of treatment. The plasma gastrin and motilin levels in all groups were measured before and one course after treatment for effect evaluafion. Results:There were no inter-group statistical differences of plasma gastrin and motilin levels before treatment. The plasma gastrin and motilin levels in all groups were significantly elevated after treatment(P<0.01).The group of combined acupuncture and Chinese medicine showed a significantly higher level than the Western medication and Chinese medicine group (P<0.05).Conclusion:Combined acupuncture and Chinese medicine can remarkably elevate the plasma gastrin and motilin levels in those with reflux esophagitis, regulate the gaslro-esophagus motility, increase the lower esophageal sphincter pressure and thus prevent regurgitation of food.
5.Clinical Observation on Needling Tendon for Cervical Spondylosis Causing Vertebral Artery Insufficiency
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2011;09(1):55-57
Objective: To observe the clinical effect of needling tendon for cervical spondylosis causing vertebral artery insufficiency. Methods: Thirty-eight cases with cervical spondylosis causing vertebral artery insufficiency were treated by needling the cervical tendon for one-course treatment. After treatment, the vertebrobasilar blood flow was observed. Results: The vertebrobasilar blood flow of the patients was substantially improved. The total effective rate and marked effect rate were 100.0% and 68.4% respectively. Conclusion: Needling the cervical tendon can obtain an exact effect for cervical spondylosis causing vertebral artery insufficiency.

10.Establishing Stroke Unit on the Basis of TCM Characteristics
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2008;6(4):197-200
The evidence-based medicine proved that Stroke Unit (SU) works most effectively on stroke. Since SU is originated and developed in Europe and America, SU therapies are limited to Western medicine. We can make flexible clinical guidelines by combining TCM with the SU and establish SU mode with Chinese characteristics.
