China Pharmacy 2016;27(25):3502-3504
OBJECTIVE:To study the antihypertensive effects of water decoction of Eupatorium lindleyanum on spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and corresponding mechanism. METHODS:50 SHR were randomly divided into model group, captopril tablets group(positive drug,10 mg/g)and the groups of high, medium and low-dose(65.45,32.73,16.36 g/kg)water decoction of E. lindleyanum, with 10 rats in each group. The rats in the model group were given normal saline ig,while those in other groups were given corresponding drugs ig,once a day,for 7 consecutive weeks. The systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure(DBP)of the caudal arteries of the rats were measured every week, and the dynamic changes in the blood pressure of the rats as a result of drug intervention were recorded. The rats were sacrificed 7 weeks later, and the levels of endothelin(ET), angiotensin (AngⅡ) and nitric oxide (NO) in serum were determined. RESULTS:After 7 weeks of drug use, compared to the model group, the rats in the drug administration groups had significantly lower SBP and DBP of the caudal artery(P<0.05),show-ing obvious dose-effect and time-effect relationships in the antihypertensive effect of water decoction of E. lindleyanum, and had ob-viously lower levels of NO and AngⅡ and markedly higher level of ET in serum, demonstrating a dose-effect relationship. CON-CLUSIONS:The water decoction of E. lindleyanum has an obvious antihypertensive effect by a mechanism which may be related to decrease in the levels of NO and AngⅡin serum and increase in the level of ET therein.

China Pharmacy 2017;28(13):1773-1776
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the preventive effect of Gynostemma pentaphyllum water extract on model rats with stress-induced gastric ulcer. METHODS:60 rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group, positive group (Sanjiu weitai granules,3.69 g/kg)and G. pentaphyllum water extract high-dose,medium-dose,low-dose groups(4.0,2.0,1.0 g/kg,cal-culated by crude drug),10 in each group. All rats were intragastrically administrated, once a day,for one week. After 2 h of ad-ministration,except for normal group, rats were induced to stress gastric ulcer model by water immersion method in other groups. After 3 h of modeling, ulcer index (UI),ulcer inhibition rate were detected;superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA)in serum, tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),prostaglandin E2(PGE2),nitric oxide(NO)and endothelin-1(ET-1)levels in gastric mucosal tissue were determined. RESULTS:Compared with normal group,SOD level in model group was decreased, while MDA level was increased in serum(P<0.05);PGE2,NO levels were decreased,TNF-α,ET-1 levels were increased in gas-tric mucosal tissue (P<0.05). Compared with model group,UI in administration groups were obviously decreased,above-men-tioned indexes were obviously improved, which showed certain dose-dependence. And the levels of PEG2,ET-1 of gastric mucosal tissue in G. pentaphyllum water extract high-dose group improved more obviously than positive group, with statistical significances (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:G. pentaphyllum water extract plays a role in preventing gastric ulcer by regulating serum SOD-MDA balance, gastric mucosal tissue NO-ET-1 balance and reduce the degree of gastric mucosa injury, etc.

Objective To investigate the MRI features of intracranial lymphoplasmacyte-rich meningioma and the corelation between the MRI features and pathologic findings. Methods The MRI and pathologic data of 7 patients with lymphoplasmacyte-rich meningioma were reviewed retrospectively. All cases were proved by surgery and pathological examinations. Results All lesions were solitary. The tumors crawled along meninges in 6 cases and in 5 cases the tumors did not appear as mass lesions. In 2 cases, the tumors appeared as half-moon. The boundary of all of the tumors was unclear, accompanying heavy peritumoral brain edema. The brain invasion can be seen in 7 cases. The lesions showed hypo-isointense signal on T1 WI in 7 cases, hyper-isointense signal in 5 cases and hypo-isointense in 2 cases on T2 WI.Enhancement scan demonstrated marked enhancement in 7 cases. Extensive thickening of the meninges was observed in 6 cases. Pathological results showed that the cells were abundant and diversified, with a great quantity of lymphoplasmacytes, and there were typical meningeal epithelial cells area in the surgical specimen. Conclusion The MRI findings of lymphoplasmacyte-rich meningioma show some features different from other common meningiomas, which would be helpful to the diagnosis and differential diagnosis.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1981;16(1):192-197
The frequency of car accidents have contributed to increasing numbers and sevtrities of injuries to the supracondyle of the femur. the supracondylar fractures of the femur have always created complicated problems associated with restoration of the distal articular joint surface, avoidance of subsequent stiffness of the knee Joint, difflculties in management of the fracture. The author reviewed 31 supracondylar fractures of the femur in 31 patients who were treated in the department of Orthopedic Surgery, Kyungpook National University Hospital for the 6 and half years period from Jan., 1973 to Jun.,1979. The incidence of supracondylar fractures was more common in male than in female. Most of fractures occured in persons who are in their third and fourth decades. Ellciting cause were mainly traumatic and most of them were due to car accidents. The author has adopted the classification of supracondylar fracture of the femur by Neer. Of 31 cases of supracondylar fractures, there were 3 cases of Group 1 fracture, 10 cases of Group II-A fracture, 10 cases of Group II-B fracture, and 8 cases of Group III fracture. Sixteen cases were treated conservatively, 15 cases were treated by open reduction and internal flxation with various devices. The result was more satisfactory in cases by open treatment than In closed treatment.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1993;27(5):468-484
A study was performed to observe the sequential morphological change of the human placental barrier by means of light microscopy, immunohistochemistry, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The examined placentas ranged in age from 4 weeks gestation to the full-term(40 weeks). Sixty seven placental specimens were obtained immediately after delivery. With the progression of gestation, the microvilli on the surface of syncytinum tended to be fewer, shorter and blunter. The syncytiotrophoblasts were getting thinner with formation of vasculo-syncytial membrane. The cytotrophoblasts formed a continuous layer which progressively disappeared but still present in the mature villi. In view of presence of intermediate cells and remnant of desmosomes, the cytotrophoblasts appeared to form the syncytiotrophoblasts. In early pregnancy, capillary formation took place by the aggregation and differentiation of the proliferation and aggregation of endothelial cells and pericytes. Myofibroblasts in villous stroma were examined by desmin immunohistochemical staining, and detected from 19 weeks to the full-term. During last period of pregancy definitive smooth muscle cells could be demonstrated, suggesting that the presence of myofibroblasts or smooth muscle cells are closely related to the placental maturity. Scanning electron microscopy of the early placenta showed numerous syncytial sprouts representing stages in the formation of new villi, but in the late period of gestation syncytial sprouts were diminished. It is concluded that the syncytiotrophoblast is originated from the cytotrophoblast in early pregnancy as the placental barrier is formulated. Moreover, myofibroblasts and smooth muscle cells in villous stroma play important role in placental maturation.

Korean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 1997;40(1):140-145
The 68 cervical cerclage operations of incompetent internal os of the cervix(IIOC) were performed at the Taegu Catholic Medical Center from Jan. 1, 1990 to Dec. 31, 1995. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The incidence of operation for IIOC was 0.23% of total delivery. 2. Highest number of IIOC was observed in the age group of 25 to 29, and the average number of pregnancy before operation was 4.1. 3. The significant contributory factor was previous history of the induced or spontaneous abortion. 4. In all cases, cerclage method was McDonald operation. 5. The average fetal salvage rate after operation was 82.5% and from the 14th week to 16th week of gestation(43 cases), the success rate of operation was 85%. 6. The causes of operation failure were premature labor in 6 cases(55%), premature rupture of membrane in 3 cases(27%) and abortion in 2 cases(18%) in order.
