Journal of Endocrine Surgery 2009;3(2):103-106
Objective To compare the therapeutic efficacy and adverse effects between transcather arte-rial chemoembolization(TACE) and comprehensive therapy in primary advanced heptocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods 216 patients with primary HCC were arranged randomly into two groups:104 (group A) were treated with TACE alone, the rest(group B)were treated with TACE combined with intraperitoneal perfusion chemothera-py, Chinese herbs and immunotherapy. The therapeutic efficacy and adverse effects were analysed and compared between two groups. Results The CR + PR rates were 28.84% in group A and 34.82% in group B.The 4-year survival rates were 1.92% in group A and 3.87% in group B(P < 0.05).There were no severe side effects in both groups. Conclusions The short-term effective rate and 4-year survival rate in comprehensive treatment group were superior to the control group. Therefore, the comprehensive treatment is worthwhile to use in primary advanced hepatocellular carcinoma.

Cancer is one of the main causes of death for human beings. Clinical oncologists increasingly rely upon imaging for diagnosis, stage, response assessment, and follow-up in cancer patient. However, 18F-FDG is not a tumor specific agent, inflammation and infection also have intensive uptake of 18F-FDG, resulting in false positive diagnosis, and some tumors have low uptake of 18F-FDG or even do not uptake 18F-FDG, leading to false negative diagnosis. So it is urgent to develop non-18F-FDG novel tumor targeting agent. Recently, a large number of researches in vitro have demonstrated that berberine has anti-tumor activity against a variety of tumor cells by inducing tumor cell apoptosis through inhibition of mitochondrial respiratory chain etc. So far, there is no credible evidence of berberine targeting in tumor in vivo. We proposed a hypothesis that berberine has the characteristics of tumor targeting biodistribution in vivo, and verified the proposal by 18F-berberine PET/CT imaging in VX2 muscle tumor-bearing rabbit model. In this review, we intend to give an overview of the progress of berberine anticancer, the structural bases of berberine anticancer and the uderlying molecular mechanisms of berberine anticancer indentified so far. We also introduce the first visualization of 18F labeled berberine derivatives targeting tumor in VX2 muscle tumor-bearing rabbit model by PET/CT. These breakthrough findings suggest that 18F-berberine derivatives as a potential PET/CT tumor targeted molecular imaging agent may have important implications for cancer targeting therapy, molecular imaging and modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Objective To investigate the epidemiological characteristics of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in Yichang City in the last 5 years, and to provide a basis for targeted prevention and treatment. Methods The annual estimated percentage was used to evaluate the trend of morbidity and mortality of AMI by using the monitoring data from 2015 to 2019 from the health big data platform of Yichang. Results There were 1 976 new cases of AMI in Yichang from 2015 to 2019, with a crude morbidity of 41.96/100 000, and standardized morbidity of 87.52/100 000. Among them the crude incidence rate in males was 57.69/100 000, and 29.84/100 000 in females. The difference was statistically significant (χ2=15.76, P<0.001). From 2015 to 2019, 1838 people died of AMI, with a crude mortality of 39.03/100,000 and a standardized morbidity of 27.27/100 000. The crude mortality for males and females was 44.03/100,000 and 3.39/100 000, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (χ2=45.65, P<0.001). The morbidity and mortality of males and females were increased with age. Conclusion From 2015 to 2019, the morbidity of AMI in Yichang was at a moderately low level in China, but the mortality was higher than the national average. The morbidity showed an upward trend, with men and elderly people aged ≥60 being more serious. Appropriate intervention measures should be taken for different groups of people to reduce the incidence of AMI.

OBJECTIVES:
This study aimed to build a surgical navigation system based on mixed reality (MR) and optical positioning technique and evaluate its clinical applicability in craniomaxillofacial trauma bone reconstruction. Me-thods We first integrated the software and hardware platforms of the MR-based surgical navigation system and explored the system workflow. The systematic error, target registration error, and osteotomy application error of the system were then analyzed via 3D printed skull model experiment. The feasibility of the MR-based surgical navigation system in craniomaxillofacial trauma bone reconstruction was verified via zygomatico-maxillary complex (ZMC) reduction experiment of the skull model and preliminary clinical study.
RESULTS:
The system error of this MR-based surgical navigation system was 1.23 mm±0.52 mm, the target registration error was 2.83 mm±1.18 mm, and the osteotomy application error was 3.13 mm±1.66 mm. Virtual surgical planning and the reduction of the ZMC model were successfully conducted. In addition, with the guidance of the MR-based navigation system, the frontal bone defect was successfully reconstructed, and the clinical outcome was satisfactory.
CONCLUSIONS
The MR-based surgical navigation system has its advantages in virtual reality fusion effect and dynamic navigation stability. It provides a new method for doctor-patient communications, education, preoperative planning, and intraoperative navigation in craniomaxillofacial surgery.
