1.Inhibitory effects of human cloned lymphokine-activated killer (LAK) cells on growth of myeloid progenitor cells
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(03):-
Human LAK cells induced from peripheral blood mononuclear cells with recombinant interleukin2 (rIL-2) incubation, can be cloned in semisolid medium and proliferated well in liquid cultures containing rIL-2. Phynotypie analysis by flow cytometry showed that these cloned LAK cells were T_3(+), T_4(-), T_8(+), Tac(+), DR(+) and NKH1(-)/(+). Cultured with 1?10~5/ml normal bone marrow mononuelear cells (BMMNC)for 0.5-hr prior to semisolid culture system for CFU-GM, the cloned LAK ceils at 2?10~5/ml showed inhibitory effect on CFU-GM that the colonies were decreased by 43.8% of control though 0.5 or 1?10~5/ml LAK cells did not. Morever, a dose-dependent inhibition of CFU-GM was noted when LAK cells pre-inbated with BMMNC for 4-hr in doses of 0.5 -4?10~5/ml that the inhibitory rates of CFU-GM were 58.8, 67.5, 88.8 and 96.3% at0.5, 1, 2, 4?10~5/ml LAK cells addition respectively. Using double-layer agar cultures, inhibitory activity for CFU-GM was also observed only when LAK cells at 4?10~5/ml without contacted with BMMNC. No significant difference of inhibitory effects on CFUGM growth was found between autologous and allogenie clotted LAK cells under same condition. These data suggeste that LAK cells inhibited growth of myeloid progenitor cells without MHC-restriction and the mechanism might involve cell-to-cell interaction and/or some soluble factors secreted by LAK cells.

Objective To investigate cognitive functions in first-episode schizophrenia and unaffected first-degree relatives of different patients. Methods A total of 52 patients with first-episode schizophrenia (patient group),48 unaffected first-degree relatives of different patients (relatives group) and 50 healthy normal controls (control group) was recruited in the study. The attention, memory, and executive functions of all the subjects were assessed by a battery of neuropsychological tests, including cancellation test (CT),trail making test (TMT),digit span (DS),visual reproduction (VR),verbal fluency task (VFK),Wisconsin card sorting test (WCST) and HANOI tower. Results There were statistically significant difference among three groups in net scores of CT,TMTA,TMT-B,backward and total scores of DS,scores of VR,VFK,total errors and perseverate errors of WCST and all indicators of HANOI Tower (P <0.05 or P < 0.01).Post Hoc multiple comparisons showed that, compared with the control group, the patient group had worse scores in all tests above except TMT-A in the relatives group (P <0.05 orP <0.01).However,compared with the patient group, the relatives group had better scores in net scores of CT,TMT-A,TMT-B,scores of VR,VFK,total errors and perseverate errors of WCST (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).Conclusions Patients with first-episode schizophrenia have global cognitive functions deficits.Unaffected first-degree relatives of different patients also have cognitive deficits to a certain extent. Our study indicates that cognitive functions deficits may be viewed as a biomarker for candidates reflecting genetic liability for schizophrenia.

Objective To investigate whether Bushen-Huoxue compound adjuvant therapy can be effective on mild cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease and the influence on plasma phospholipids(PLs) levels. Methods 87 PD patients were recruited and collected for the general information. The patients were evaluated by Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale(UPDRS) Ⅲ and Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA). According to MoCA scores, patients with PD-MCI were divided into a Bushen-Huoxue compound treatment group and a control group(basic L-dopa or dopamine agonist). Reevaluating cognitive function by MoCA and plasma phopholipids levels at posttreatment 12 month and 18 month. Plasma PLs was assayed by measuring its inorganic phosphorus after separation by chromatograph. Results 39 cases in 87 PD patients(44.8%)were with PD-MCI.After 12 months or 18 months treatment period, MoCA scores was significantly higher in Bushen-Huoxue compound treatment group than in controls(P<0.05 or 0.01 respectively). Plasma PLs levels were significantly decreased in Bushen-Huoxue compound treatment group than in controls(P<0.01 or 0.01 respectively). Conclusions Bushen-Huoxue compound could be effective in the adjuvant treatment of PD-MCI, and could delay cognitive rate of decline in patients with PD. Meanwhile, Bushen-Huoxue compound could significantly decrease plasma PLs levels in PD-MCI. The evidence from present study suggested that Bushen-Huoxue compound have neuroprotective effects on patients with PD-MCI.

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2018;20(6):548-552
Internal fixation is one of the most important treatments for fractures. The stability of screws in internal fixation can be influenced by bone mineral density, quality of pilot holes, improper structure and surface characteristics of screws chosen, insertion torque, insertion angle, and screws unfit for the bone holes.Internal fixation of fractures can fail due to the instability of screws. This paper,on the basis of a comprehensive review of the studies on all the above factors influencing the screw stability, proposes effective methods to enhance screw stability so as to improve surgical outcomes of fracture internal fixation.

Objective To review the diagnosis and treatment of squamous cell carcinoma of renal pelvis. Methods The clinical data from October 1991 to May 2009 of eight cases of squamous cell carcinoma of renal pelvis were reviewed and analyzed retrospectively. The symptoms of the patients were hematuria (eight cases), pain (seven cases) and abdominal mass (one case). All patients underwent B-ultrasound and IVU examination and four cases underwent CT scan. Three cases were diagnosed as having a tumor before surgery. Five cases were diagnosed as renal calculus, two of the five cases were diagnosed by intraoperative frozen section. Radical nephroureterectomy were performed in four cases, nephrectomy in three cases and palliative resection in one case. Results Histological classification revealed that six cases were moderately differentiated, one case was well differentiated and one case was poorly differentiated. Two cases had stage pT1/pT2 and six cases had stage pT3/pT4. 2 cases had regional lymph nodes metastasis. Seven cases were followed-up. All patients died of tumor recurrence or metastasis. The median tumor specific survive time was six months (range from two months to 42 months). Conclusions Squamous cell carcinoma of renal pelvis is often occurs concurrently with urolithiasis which could lead to difficulty in diagnose before operation. As the most of the patients were diagnosed with advanced stage disease, squamous cell carcinoma of renal pelvis tended to early recurrence and metastasis and the prognosis was very poor.
