Objective To evaluate the clinical significance of re operation for postoperative recurrent gastric carcinoma. Methods From 1986 to 2001, fifty one patients with postoperative local recurrence of gastric carcinoma were admitted into our hospital. The clinical data were analyzed retrospectively. Results Of 51 cases, there were 31 cases with recurrence within the stump stomach and 20 with local and metastatic recurrence. Twenty seven cases were treated by radical resection, 3 cases by palliative residual stomach resection, 15 cases by gastrojejunostomy or gastroenterostomy, 6 cases by simple exploration. Pathological examination of 30 cases revealed perianastomosis recurrence in 10 cases, stump stomach carcinoma in 20 cases. The 1,3,5 year survival rate of 27 cases after radical resection was 88%, 58%, 19% respectively. The survival time of palliative and comprehensive treatment group was 6 to 24 months and mean survival time was 16 months, while all patients undergoing simple exploration and abdominal cavity chemotherapy died after 2 to 7 months. Conclusion Most postoperative recurrent gastric carcinoma are within the residual stomach and hence could be treated by reoperative resection.

OBJECTIVE: To optimize water extraction technology of Feng-Moutan Cortex. METHODS: L9 (34) orthogonal design was used to optimize soaking time, solid-liquid ratio, extraction time and extraction times in water extraction technology of Feng-Moutan Cortex using comprehensive scores for the peak area percentage and extract yield of 8 ingredients in Feng-Moutan Cortex as gallic acid, paeoniflorin, catechin, paeoniflorin, benzoic acid, benzoyloxypaeoniflorin, benzoylpaeoniflorin and paeonol after normalization as indexes. Verification test was conducted. RESULTS: The optimal water extraction technology was that 20-fold water, soaking for 1 h, extracting twice, 2 h each time. Results of verification test showed that comprehensive scores of 3 times of tests were 65. 98, 68. 85 and 69. 25, respectively. RSDs of each index were lower than 5% (n=3). CONCLUSIONS: Established comprehensive scoring method can reflect the relative contents of effective components in Feng-Moutan Cortex comprehen- sively, so that optimized extraction technology is reasonable and feasible.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2013;33(5):772-775
OBJECTIVETo explore the association of fish intake with the risk of renal cancer.
METHODSPubMed, Embase, CNKI and CA databases were searched for case-control studies or cohort studies examining the relationship between fish or fish products intake and renal cancer. Heterogeneity among the selected studies was assessed using I2 score, and the publication bias was assessed using funnel plots.
RESULTSSeventeen articles were included in the analysis with a heterogeneity across the studies (P=0.003, I(2)=52.3%). A random-effects model was used to generate the pooled risk ratio (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI), and no statistically significant association was found between the risk of renal cancer and fish intake (RR=0.90; 95% CI, 0.78-1.02). In subgroup analysis, no evidence was found that the study design, study region or publication date influenced the results; but in the gender subgroup analysis, fish intake we found to decrease the risk of renal cancer in men but not in women.
CONCLUSIONThe results of meta-analysis do not support an association between fish intake and a lowered risk of renal cancer.

OBJECTIVE To analyze the clinical characteristics of liraglutide-induced pancreatitis, and to provide reference for clinical rational drug use. METHODS Retrieved from CNKI, VIP, Wanfang database, PubMed, Web of Science and Medline, case reports about liraglutide-induced pancreatitis were collected from the inception to December 31st, 2022. Demographic characteristics, drug use, clinical manifestations, intervention and outcome were analyzed using descriptive statistical method. RESULTS A total of 17 pieces of literature were collected and 17 patients were involved, including 7 males and 10 females. The patients aged from 25 to 75 years. All 17 patients had drug indications, including 14 cases of type 2 diabetes mellitus, 3 cases of obesity or overweight. Among 17 patients, liraglutide was used alone in 5 cases, and combined with other drugs in 12 cases. Time from liraglutide administration to pancreatitis occurrence ranged from 1 day to 11 months after medication in 17 patients, with 14 cases less than 6 months. The clinical manifestations mainly included abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, etc. After the diagnosis of pancreatitis, liraglutide discontinuation occurred in 16 patients; 1 case did not receive any other interventions and the other 15 cases were managed with symptomatic supportive treatment; the symptoms of all 16 patients resolved; however, 2 patients suffered from second episode of severe pancreatitis several weeks after liraglutide discontinuation, pancreatitis recurred after liraglutide rechallenge in 1 case. The results of correlation evaluation showed that 1 case was “positive”, 4 cases were “possible”, and the remaining patients were “very likely”. CONCLUSIONS Liraglutide-induced pancreatitis mainly occurred within 6 months after drug administration. The majority of liraglutide-induced pancreatitis cases are mild to moderate, but there are also severe and even fatal cases. It is advisable to periodically monitor the level of pancreatic enzymes and closely observe patients’ clinical mani-festations. In case of suspected liraglutide-induced pancreatitis, drug withdrawal and symptomatic treatment should be taken immediately.

Neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs) such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD) are a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by progressive degeneration of neurons. NDDs threaten the lives of millions of people worldwide and regretfully remain incurable. It is well accepted that dysfunction of mitochondria underlies the pathogenesis of NDDs. Dysfunction of mitochondria results in energy depletion, oxidative stress, calcium overloading, caspases activation, which dominates the neuronal death of NDDs. Therefore, mitochondria are the preferred target for intervention of NDDs. So far various mitochondria-targeting drugs have been developed and delightfully some of them demonstrate promising outcome, though there are still some obstacles such as targeting specificity, delivery capacity hindering the drugs development. In present review, we will elaborately address 1) the strategy to design mitochondria targeting drugs, 2) the rescue mechanism of respective mitochondria targeting drugs, 3) how to evaluate the therapeutic effect. Hopefully this review will provide comprehensive knowledge for understanding how to develop more effective drugs for the treatment of NDDs.
