Objective To explore the value of mast cell tryptase and brain natriuretic peptide(BNP)in the differential diagnostic of sudden death due to hypersensitivity and coronary atherosclerotic heart dis-ease.Methods Totally 30 myocardial samples were collected from the autopsy cases in the Department of Forensic Pathology, Shanxi Medical University during 2010—2015. All samples were divided into three groups:death of craniocerebral injury group, sudden death of hypersensitivity group and sudden death of coronary atherosclerotic heart disease group, 10 cases in each group. Mast cell tryptase and BNP in myocardium were detected by immunofluorescence staining and Western Blotting. Results Immunofluo-rescence staining showed that the positive staining mast cell tryptase appeared in myocardium of sudden death of hypersensitivity group and coronary atherosclerotic heart disease group. Among the three groups, the expression of mast cell tryptase showed significantly differences through pairwise comparison(P<0.05); The expression level of BNP in sudden death of coronary atherosclerotic heart disease group were significantly higher than the sudden death of hypersensitivity group and death of craniocerebral injury group(P<0.05). The difference of the expression level of BNP between the sudden death of hypersensitivity group and the death of craniocerebral injury group had no statistical significance(P>0.05).Conclusion The combined detection of the mast cell tryptase and BNP in myocardium is expected to provide help for the forensic differential diagnosis of sudden death due to hypersensitivity and coronary atherosclerotic heart disease.

Objective To study the value of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE)in combination with portal vein chemotherapy (PVC) after resection of hepatocellular carcinoma to prolong survival. Methods From January 2000 to July 2007, 168 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) underwent tumor resection in our hospital. After operation, TACE in combination with PVC was performed in 48 patients (combined group), TACE alone in 26 (TACE group), PVC alone in 50 (PVC group) and none of the above in 44 (control group). All the patients were followed up for 17-96 months. The 1-, 3-and 5-year survival rates were compared among the 4 groups. Results Accumulative 1-, 3-and 5-year survival rates were higher in the combined and TACE groups than in PVC and control groups. Conclusion After resection of HCC, combined use of TACE and PVC is the same as TACE in prolonging patient survival. However, it is better than PVC alone and non-surgical procedure.

Background: With the increase of troops entering the plateau for a variety of missions, the occurrence of de-adaptation increased significantly when the army returned to the plains, however, until now, there has been no effective treatment for de-adaptation to high altitude. Objective: To observe the interventional effects of compound Chinese herbal preparations (Sankang Capsule, Rhodiola Rosea Capsule and Shenqi Pollen Capsule) on de-adaptation to high altitude, and provide scientific evidence for appropriate treatment methods in the army health care for future missions. Design, setting, participants and interventions: A randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled trial design was used. Soldiers of a returning army unit who exhibited de-adaptation response symptoms were selected for observation after participating in earthquake relief at high altitude. A total of 543 soldiers were divided into a Sankang Capsule group, a Rhodiola Rosea Capsule group, a Shenqi Pollen Capsule group and a placebo group for drug intervention and administered with corresponding drugs. The course of treatment was 15 days. A self-evaluation scale for de-adaptation to high altitude was used to measure the signs and symptoms exhibited by the soldiers. Main outcome measures: Effective rate of signs and symptoms of de-adaptation to high altitude was analyzed after a 15-day treatment and the differences of improvement rate of symptoms between groups were compared to evaluate the efficacy of the drugs. Results: All three drugs improved the symptoms of de-adaptation to high altitude. Compared with the placebo group, symptoms of de-adaptation to high altitude in the drug-treated groups were remitted (P<0.05). Compared with placebo, Sankang Capsule mainly had well-marked effects on dizziness, fatigue, palpitations, cough, sputum and sore throat (P<0.05); Rhodiola Rosea Capsule significantly reduced the symptoms of fatigue, drowsiness, chest tightness, palpitations, vertigo, lack of attention and memory loss (P<0.05); Shenqi Pollen Capsule significantly reduced the symptoms of dizziness, fatigue, weakness, chest tightness, palpitations, cough, sputum, sore throat, memory loss, unresponsiveness and limb numbness (P<0.05). The symptom improvement rate of Shenqi Pollen Capsule was significantly higher than those of the other two drugs. Conclusion: All the three drugs played an evident role in ameliorating symptoms of de-adaptation, and the use of Shenqi Pollen Capsule was more effective than Rhodiola Rosea Capsule and Sankang Capsule.

Aim To investigate the effects of isoliquiri-tigenin(ISL)on C6 glioma cell proliferation and differ-entiation.Methods C6 glioma cells’viability and proliferation were respectively measured by SRB test. Colony formation of C6 glioma cells from different groups was assayed. After culturing the cells from each group, giemsa staining was used to observe cell mor-phology.RT-PCR was applied to detect mRNA expres-sion of GFAP.Western blot was applied to detect the expression of GFAP.Results ISL effectively inhibited the viability of C6 glioma cells when compared with the control group in a concentration-dependent manner (P<0.01).The morphological observation under light mi-croscope showed that:in the control group, most of the undifferentiated C6 cells showed long fusiform and po-lygonal shape.Compared to the control group, the C6 cells treated with ISL revealed alteration in morphology such as astrocytes with smaller smooth, round body and much finer longer, tapering processes. The cloning for-mation rate detection revealed that:the colonies in the control group semerged earlier and were larger than those experimental ones, the cloning formation rate was higher, while almost no effective cells colony emerged in ISL treated groups(P <0.01 ).Western blot and RT-PCR analysis showed that GFAP expression in the ex-perimental groups increased(P <0.01).Conclusion ISL may inhibit the proliferation of C6 glioma cells and induce their differentiation.

Objective:To assess antimicrobial activity of Fe 3O 4 nanozymes against Candida albicans. Methods:Fe 3O 4 nanozymes were prepared by using a modified hydrothermal synthesis method. Candida albicans suspensions were divided into 4 groups: nanozyme group treated with 0.5 g/L Fe 3O 4 nanozymes, H 2O 2 group treated with 0.1% H 2O 2, combination group treated with 0.5 g/L Fe 3O 4 nanozymes and 0.1% H 2O 2, and control group receiving no treatment. Candida albicans in the above 4 groups was all cultured with Sabouraud liquid medium, the absorbance value at 600 nm was detected every 2 hours, and the growth of Candida albicans was observed. After 2-hour treatment, the morphology of Candida albicans in the 4 groups was observed by scanning electron microscopy; after plate coating, Candida albicans was cultured at 36 ℃ for 48 hours, colonies were observed and counted, and the inhibition rate of colony formation was calculated. One-way analysis of variance was used for comparing means among several groups, and least significant difference (LSD) - t test for multiple comparisons. Results:A relatively stable survival curve of Candida albicans was observed in the control group, while the growth of Candida albicans was inhibited in the nanozyme group, H 2O 2 group and combination group. The colony count significantly differed among the control group, H 2O 2 group, nanozyme group and combination group (124 830 ± 45 170, 86 330 ± 13 960, 91 670 ± 31 370 and 30 330 ± 3010 respectively; F = 9.41, P < 0.05) , and was significantly lower in the combination group than in the control group ( t = 4.63, P < 0.05) . There was a significant difference in the colony-formation inhibition rate among the H 2O 2 group, nanozyme group and combination group (30.84% ± 5.00%, 26.57% ± 11.24%, 75.70% ± 2.42% respectively; F = 9.413, P < 0.01) , and the combination group showed a significantly higher inhibition rate compared with the H 2O 2 group and nanozyme group ( t = 8.08, 4.27 respectively, both P < 0.01) . Scanning electron microscopy showed changes in the morphology of Candida albicans treated with H 2O 2 and nanozymes alone or in combination, including shrinkage, rupture and even collapse. Conclusion:Fe 3O 4 nanozymes combined with H 2O 2 have obvious antimicrobial effect against Candida albicans.

OBJECTIVETo determine whether the extent of prolongation of the transisthmus interval after ablation predicts complete bidirectional block.
METHODSSince 1996 to 2002, 30 consecutive patients underwent ablation procedures for isthmus-dependent atrial flutter. There were 23 males and 7 females [mean age (47.85 +/- 9.35) years]. With the use of fluoroscopic view of anatomy, radiofrequency ablation was performed during coronary sinus pacing at a cycle length of 600 ms.
RESULTSBidirectional block was achieved with ablation in 29 (97%) of 30 patients. The transisthmus intervals before ablation and after complete transisthmus block were (73.82 +/- 13.01) ms and (140.47 +/- 20.48) ms, respectively, in the clockwise direction (P < 0.0001), and (77.63 +/- 8.36) ms and (138.17 +/- 15.55) ms, respectively, in the counterclockwise direction (P < 0.0001). A period of incomplete isthmus block was observed during 17 (58%) of the 29 ablation procedures. The clockwise transisthmus intervals during incomplete block [(107.65 +/- 21.33) ms] were (45.5 +/- 8.7)% longer than the baseline transisthmus intervals. An increase in the transisthmus interval by > or = 50% in both directions after ablation predicted complete bidirectional block with 100.0% sensitivity and 83.3% specificity. The positive and negative predictive values were 90.6% and 100.0%, respectively. The diagnostic accuracy of a > or = 50% prolongation in the transisthmus interval was 83.3%.
CONCLUSIONThe analysis of transisthmus interval is a valuable method for determining complete bidirectional isthmus block.
