The expression levels of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) from peripheral lymphocytes of the patients with allergic rhinitis (AR) and the clinical implication were investigated. In the morning, 3 ml of fasting venous blood was taken out. The lymphocytes were isolated by using Ficoll-Hypaque and the expression of HSP70 in the lymphocytes was detected by using Western blot. In the AR patients the HSP70 level (41.49 +/- 15.77 integrated optical density, IOD) were significantly higher than that in the control group (23.89 +/- 10.13 IOD, P < 0.05). Western blot demonstrated that HSP70 bands in AR patients were more intensive than those in the control group. It was concluded that the elevated HSP70 level in peripheral lymphocytes of the AR patients might contribute to the development of AR.

OBJECTIVETo study the toxicological effects of benzo[a]pyrene(BaP) on mammalian animal's nerve tissue.
METHODS50 Kunming mice were divided into 5 groups at random, the exposed groups(3 dose level groups), the vehicle control group and standard control group. Every group got 10 mice. The exposed groups were treated by intraperitoneal injection with BaP dissolved in vegetable oil at 7.8, 3.2 and 1.3 mg/kg respectively, 4 times/week, for 10 weeks, the vehicle control group were given vegetable oil and the standard control group were not given any treatment. All the mice were anesthetized with 0.02 mol/L pentobarbital and infused with 1.33 mol/L paraformaldehyde dissolved in PBS through heart after 10 weeks. Then the brain, spinal cord and sciatic nerve were removed. Slices of these tissues were made and morphological changes were observed by optical microscope and electron-microscope. Cell appoptosis was examined by TUNEL(TdT-mediated x-dUTP nick end labeling) method.
RESULTSMorphological observations showed tissue injury in BaP exposed groups. There were focal necrosis areas found in the high-dose group. The cell apoptosis rates in 3.2 and 1.3 mg/kg groups were 90.02%-94.22% and 62.45%-77.54% respectively, significantly higher than those of vehicle control group and standard control group(4.60%-5.57%).
CONCLUSIONBaP is neurotoxic. It could damage the nerve tissue as well as induce DNA breaks and cell apoptosis.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the difference between basal and heat-inducible levels of lymphocyte heat shock protein 71 (HSP71) expression in soldiers from Beijing, Zhengzhou and Guangzhou.
METHODSFlow cytometry and Comet assay were used to detect the level of HSP71 and DNA damage respectively.
RESULTSComet assay showed that there was no significant DNA damage before and after heat stress at 41 degrees C for 1 h, and also no difference found among the 3 climatic zones(P > 0.05). HSP71 of all soldiers in the 3 zones elevated after stress (P < 0.05). The basal and heat-inducible levels of HSP71 in Beijing soldiers(845.87 +/- 135.60 and 1254. 47 +/- 239.05 mean fluorescence intensity respectively) were higher than those in Guangzhou soldiers(702.73 +/- 184.70 and 861.72 +/- 225.12 mean fluorescence intensity respectively) (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe differences of lymphocyte HSP71 expression before and after heat stress among the soldiers from Beijing, Zhengzhou and Guangzhou suggest that basal and heat-inducible levels of lymphocyte HSP71 expression may be considered as a valuable index to evaluate heat tolerance of soldiers in different climatic zones.

Objective:To establish standard spatial brain template and ROIs template of 11C-methyl- N-2β-carbomethoxy-3β-(4-fluorophenyl)tropane (CFT) PET images for automated quantitative analysis of dopamine transporter (DAT) distribution. Methods:From May 2014 to December 2015, 11C-CFT PET and MRI T 1 brain images of 16 healthy volunteers (3 males, 13 females; age (63.3±6.9) years) from Huashan Hospital, Fudan University were co-registered and smoothed using statistical parametric mapping(SPM)5 software based on MATLAB to create a standard spatial brain template. The ROIs template was established by ScAnVp procedures. These templates were clinically verified by using 11C-CFT PET images of 37 healthy volunteers (23 males, 14 females; age (61.7±7.1) years), 32 Parkinson′s disease (PD) patients (20 males, 12 females; age (61.1±5.4) years), 10 multiple system atrophy with predominant parkinsonism (MSA-P) patients (7 males, 3 females; age (60.8±7.1) years) and 10 progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) patients (5 males, 5 females; age (58.4±6.1) years) from Huashan Hospital, Fudan University between January 2014 and March 2019. One-way analysis of variance was used to analyze data. Results:Based on the 11C-CFT PET images and MRI T 1 images of healthy volunteers, a standard spatial brain template for normalization of 11C-CFT PET images was created. The ROIs template was established including seven regions: bilateral caudate, anterior putamen, posterior putamen (along the long axis) and the occipital cortex. The ROIs template was accurately aligned in each verification group. The normal reference values of semi-quantitative DAT distribution in caudate, anterior putamen and posterior putamen were obtained (1.84±0.13, 2.18±0.16, 1.77±0.11). The semi-quantitative values of 11C-CFT uptake in each ROI in patients were significantly lower than those in healthy volunteers ( F values: 49.79-283.83, all P<0.05). Conclusion:The established brain templates with accurate spatial alignment for 11C-CFT image analysis can provide foundational tools for the application of 11C-CFT PET imaging in clinical practice and scientific research.

Objective:To summarise the effect of free perforator flap of radial collateral artery on reconstruction of first web contracture after hand injury. Methods:Retrospective analysis was conducted based on the clinical data of patients with first web contracture after hand injury in the Department of Hand and Foot Surgery and Rehabilitation, Guangdong Work Injury Rehabilitation Hospital from November 2019 to June 2022. Ten patients, 8 males and 2 females aged between 27 and 51 years old with an average of 40.5 years old were included. There were 6 left hands and 4 right hands. Width and the included angle of first web were measured before surgery. Four hands were classified as severe first web contracture, and the rest of 6 hands had moderate first web contracture. After release scars of the first web, the areas of wound were 5.5 cm × 2.0 cm - 10.5 cm × 3.0 cm. The flaps sized were 6.0 cm×2.5 cm - 11.0 cm × 3.5 cm. All of flaps carried the posterior cutaneous nerve of forearm. Donor sites were closed directly. All patients were included in postoperative follow-up regularly through outpatient clinic or via WeChat reviews. The colour, texture, process in change of the transferred flaps, donor and recipient sites healing and complications were observed. Results:All 10 flaps survived and the wound healed by first intention. The patients received 7 to 15 months (10.5 months in average) of postoperative follow-up. The flaps were not bulky, texture and colour were satisfactory and without pigmentation. Protective sensations restored in 6 patients. At the last follow-up, average included angle of the first webs was 47.14°±1.68°, in comparison with 35.43°±3.60° before surgery. The average width of first webs was 5.34 cm±0.52 cm, in comparison with 3.17 cm±0.75 cm before surgery, the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.01). Eight hands were rated excellent, and 2 were good. There were only linear scars left at the donor sites, without sign of radial nerve injury. Conclusion:The free perforator flap of radial collateral artery is a safe and effective method for repair of first web contracture after hand injury.

Objective:To investigate the effect of intensive care unit (ICU) admission model on acute kidney injury (AKI) development and the prognosis in patients with sepsis. Methods:Patients with sepsis admitted to the ICU of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region People's Hospital from January 2019 to July 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the ICU admission model, the patients were divided into emergency group (first admission or emergency transfer from relevant surgical departments) and delayed group (transferred from the general ward due to disease evolution). Patients were divided into AKI group and non-AKI group according to whether AKI was accompanied. The gender, age, underlying diseases, surgical history, heart rate, laboratory test indicators, acute physiology and chronic health evaluationⅡ(APACHEⅡ), sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA), organ failure and acute complications were collected. The incidence of AKI, 28-day mortality and length of ICU stay were recorded. Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors of AKI in patients with sepsis. Results:A total of 185 patients with sepsis were enrolled, including 96 cases in the emergency group and 89 cases in the delayed group. 119 cases of AKI occurred while 66 cases without AKI development. The incidence of AKI within 7 days and the 28-day mortality of patients in the delayed group were significantly higher than those in the emergency group [AKI incidence rate: 77.53% (69/89) vs. 52.08% (50/96), 28-day mortality: 24.72% (22/89) vs. 10.42% (10/96), both P < 0.05], and the length of ICU stay was significantly longer than that of the emergency group (days: 18.70±7.29 vs. 14.56±4.75, P < 0.05). Univariate Logistic analysis showed that there were significant differences in age, diabetes, hypertension, organ failure, heart failure, APACHEⅡscore, SOFA score, white blood cell count (WBC), absolute neutrophil value, platelet count (PLT), blood lactate, total bilirubin, and ICU transferred from general wards between AKI group and non-AKI group. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that transfer from general ward to ICU due to disease evolution was an independent risk factor for AKI in ICU sepsis patients [odds ratio ( OR) = 5.165, 95% confidence interval (95% CI) was 3.911-6.823, P < 0.001]. Conclusion:Septic patients transferred from general ward to ICU due to disease evolution are more likely to develop AKI, and also had a higher mortality and longer ICU stay. It may be an independent risk factor for AKI complicated by patients with sepsis in ICU.
