Chinese Journal of Immunology 2016;32(6):871-874
Objective:To explore the neutrophil CD64 and sTREM-1 in elderly patients with community-acquired pneumonia ( CAP) in the diagnosis of clinical value. Methods: 76 elderly CAP hospitalized patients were divided into severe pneumonia group (n=23) (live in 15 cases,8 deaths)and ordinary pneumonia group(n=53) according to severity;45 patients in the control group compared with healthy older persons. Peripheral blood neutrophil CD64 was measured by automatic flow cytometry,sTREM-1 levels was measured by double-antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The receiver operating characteristic curve ( ROC curve) was used to check diagnostic value of the detection. Results: Median concentrations of CD64 and sTREM-1 in the severe pneumonia group, general pneumonia group and control group were 37. 49,18. 82 and 10. 63 MFI,and 75. 39,65. 31 and 43. 96 pg/ml, respective-ly. Although there was significant differences among the three groups ( P<0. 05 ); CD64 and sTREM-1 in Severe pneumonia survival group reduced to a normal level as his condition improved gradually, death group continued to rise as the disease, and peaked at the time of death;the area under the ROC curve of CD64,sTREM-1were respectively 0. 876,0. 843,which was 0. 917 by combination of CD64 and sTREM-1. Conclusion: Both CD64 and sTREM-1 are good markers in the diagnosis value of CAP, the dynamic changes of two may reflect the condition and prognosis of CAP.

Objective To compare the stress distributions on the anterior horn, body part and posterior horn of menisci between the normal and the injured knees with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) deficiency using the three-dimensional finite element analysis. Methods A three-dimensional finite element model of tibiofemoral joint was created to simulate the motion states of the normal and ACL-deficiency knees at extension,as well as 15° and 30° flexions.Meanwhile,700N axial load and 134N posterior load were applied to the femur. Then, the stress on the anterior horn, body part and posterior horn of medial and lateral menisci were compared between the normal and ACL-deficient knees. Results With ACL deficiency, when stretching the knees straightly, the stress on the anterior horn of medial meniscus increased to 100.7% of the normal knees, bigger than that of the affected lateral meniscus (30.7%).At 15° and 30° flexions, the stress on the posterior horn of the medial meniscus in ACL-deficiency knees increased by 36.4% and 59.7% respectively when compared to normal knees, while the stress on that of the lateral meniscus did not increase significantly.Apart from the stress on the body part of the lateral meniscus increasing by 39.5% at extension in ACL-deficiency knees,no obvious changes were observed in the stress on the body part of the medial and lateral menisci. Conclusion ACL deficiency has different effect on the stress of different parts of the meniscus. It mainly increases the stress on the anterior horn of the medial meniscus at extension and that of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus at flexion.

Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2007;27(2):127-130
OBJECTIVEBy detecting the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in different syndrome types of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in patients with gastric carcinoma (GC) to investigate the correlation of VEGF and TCM syndrome type for exploring the internal relationship between disease and syndrome.
METHODSThe correlated clinical manifestations were recorded in detail and patient's syndrome type was differentiated at beside before operation. After operation, pathological examination on the resected specimen was performed routinely. The expression of VEGF in 104 GC patients of three different syndrome types, i.e. Pi-Wei asthenia type (type 1), Gan-Wei disharmony type (type 2) and phlegm-stasis-poisons stagnant type (type 3)and in 30 patients with superficial gastritis (for control) were determined by immunohistochemical method. The expressions of VEGF in different syndrome types were analyzed by combining with correlated clinical pathological characteristics.
RESULTS(1) The VEGF protein positive expression rate in GC patients was 81.7% (85/104), it was significantly higher than that in the control group with positive rate being zero (P < 0.01). (2) The intensity of VEGF expression was positively correlated with the depth of tumor infiltration, the extent of lymph node metastasis and the pathological staging of cancer (P < 0.01), and showed no evident correlation with the size of tumor and its degree of cell differentiation (P > 0.05). (3) Levels of VEGF expression in various syndrome types were significantly different (P < 0.01), the highest expression showed in the type 3, the second in the type 2, and the lowest in the type 1, comparison between them all showed significant difference (P < 0.01 for 3 vs 1, P < 0.05 for 3 vs 2 and 2 vs 1).
CONCLUSION(1) VEGF could be taken as an index for evaluating the infiltration, metastasis and prognosis of GC. (2) The different expressions of VEGF play different roles in the GC metastatic process of patients of different syndrome types, and the pathogenesis of GC metastasis may be probably various in different syndrome types. VEGF is the relevant gene of GC of type 2 and type 3. (3) High VEGF expression shows positive correlation with the GC metastasis of type 2 and 3, suggesting that the higher the intensity of evil excess, the more possibilities of tumor infiltration and metastasis and the worse the prognoses will be.

This study aimed to simultaneously determine the contents of astilbin and engeletin in dong medicine "sunl gaems" of Guizhou origin by quantitative analysis of multi-components by single marker (QAMS), with astilbin as the internal standard substance. On UPLC and HPLC chromatograms, different models of instruments were used to investigate relative correction factors (RCF), in order to discuss the interoperability of RCFs established in different chromatographic systems. The engeletin content was calculated based on the established RCFs and compared by the one point external standard method and the external standard working curve method, in order to verify the accuracy of QAMS. According to the result, in different chromatograms, the ratios between RCF and retention time of engeletin and astilbin had a good reproducibility, with RSD between 2.0% and 1.8%, both were less than 3%. The relative differences among results of QAMS, the external standard working curve method of dong medicine "sunl gaems" ranged between 1.6% and 3.9%, with RSD between 2.02%-0.80% in line with relevant requirements and Pearson correlation coefficient at 0.9998 (P <0.01). The findings showed that QAMS was an accurate, reliable and highly reproducible method to determine the contents of astilbin and engeletin in dong medicine "sunl gaems" of Guizhou origin and so could be used to control the inherent quality of the herb.

The paper is aimed to search more natural plant antioxidants and further research and develop new medicinal plant resources in Guizhou. The Guizhou special miao medicine "bod zangd dak" was extracted with 60% ethanol. The antioxidant activity of the different polarity components separated from the extract was tested by DPPH method with ascorbic acid as positive control. The results showed that the IC50 of the different polarity components was as following: ascorbic acid (0.033 4 g x L(-1)) < ethyl acetate components (0.052 3 g x L(-1)) < total tannins components (0.054 9 g x L(-1)) < 60% ethanol extraction components (0.076 7 g x L(-1)) < butanol extraction components (0.110 g x L(-1)) < water-soluble polysaccharides components (0.168 g x L(-1)) < water extraction components (0.174 g x L(-1)) < water components after extraction (0.226 g x L(-1)) < total polysaccharides components (0.645 g x L(-1)). It is concluded that the different polarity components have different free radical scavenging activity and that provides a scientific basis for further search of the active ingredients and the activive mechanism.
