Objective To study the expression of gastrin receptor in 4 HCC cell lines and tis-sues and their relation to clinieopathological features. Methods Immunohistochemical staining of GR was performed for the 4 HCC cell lines and the paraffin sections of 25 HCC cases. The relationship be-tween the GR expression in HCC sections and the clinicopatho[ogical parameters were analyzed. Results Positive staining for GR in the 3 HCC SMMC-7721>HepG2>QGY-7701 cell lines and HCC tissues was observed. The expression rate of gastrin receptor was 56 % (14/25). However, there was no association between expression of GR and elinieopathologieal features such as age, gender and clini-cal stage etc except for tumor thrombosis. Concision GR exists in the HCC. Futher study is needed to identify whether GR is a applicable target for endocrine therapy in HCC.

Zoucheng was a high endemic area of bancrotian filariasis with Culex pipiens pallens as the principal transmitting vector. Transmissiom of the disease was interrupted in 1981. Epidemiological surveillance has been then carried out. After 1989, parasitological and immunological examinations were conducted for those cases previously with and without microfilaremia, entomological surveillance was also carried out. Results showed that the antibody level in inhabitants has been at normal level, and no infection has been found in mosquitoes.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the indication and applicability of participatory research in medical workers′ hospital infection education.METHODS The medical workers in our hospital were divided into two groups with 315 people each. One group was investigated with questionnaires anonymously and then arranged the key issue and the strategy with participatory research. The other group was with the same questionnaires anonymously 3 months later.RESULTS There was a statistics difference between two groups in the comprehension of hospital infection knowledge, hands hygiene, the ratio of wash hands with standard process(P

Objective To present the clinical and pathological features of carcinosarcoma of ureter and renal pelvis. Methods Three cases of carcinosarcoma of ureter and renal pelvis were reviewed. Results The clinical symptoms of carcinosarcomas of ureter and renal pelvis are hematuria and flank pain. The neoplasm consists of an admixture of malignant epithelial and mesenchymal elements on histological studies. The immunohistochemical studies demonstrated obvious epithelial and mesenchymal reactivity.Three patients died of the disease 8 months,14 months and 2.5 months after operation. Conclusions Carcinosarcoma of ureter and renal pelvis is a rare occurrence and is usually associated with a poor prognosis. It is sometimes difficult to make certain the diagnosis and the immunohistochemical studies are essential in pathological examinations. This lesion should be differentiated from sarcomatoid carcinoma.

Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1981;0(04):-
Using computerized analysis of hemodynamics in conscious unrestrained rats, we tested the effects of intracerebroventricular administration of ketanserin (50 ?g), a special 5-HT2 antagonist, on blood pressure (BP), blood pressure variability (BPV), baroreflex-blood pressure control (ABR-BP), and baroreflex-heart period control (ABR-HP). The result are as follows: (1) There was no significant depression of blood pressure after intracerebroventricular administration of ketanserin; (2) Ketanserin could significantly decreased BPV, and enhanced ABR-BP and ABR-HP; (3) The decreasing of BPV was associated with enhancement of ABR-BP, but these changes were no related to the level of BP, indicating that the hypotension induced by ketanserin was not related to the enhancement of ABR-BP; (4) There was no significant negative relationship between ABR-BP and BPV after intracerebroventricular administration of ketanserin.

Objective To study problems related to drug-induced liver lesion caused by antituberculotic therapy (DLL).Methods Totally, 172 cases of DLL occurred in 1 464 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis after antituberculotic therapy, hospitalized during January 1995 to December 2002, were reviewed and analyzed retrospectively. Results Patients aged 20 to 60 years with DLL by antituberculolis therapy accounted for 70.3% of the total. Symptoms of digestive tract and change in liver function usually occurred within 8 weeks of intensive treatment (73.8%), and discontinuation of autituberculotic drugs was not needed for the mild cases, but needed for the severe cases with liver protective therapy. In total, 157 of the 172 cases (91.3%) recovered completely and 13 case improved (7.6%), two cases deteriorated and discharged, and doses of autituberculotic drugs should be reduced or stopped in 41 cases (23.8%) affecting their treatment efficacy. Conclusions DLL was liable to occur in patients of pulmonary tuberculosis with antituberculotic therapy, especially in the elderly men with body weight less than 50 kilograms, those with previous liver damage or infected with hepatotropic virus, alcohol drinking, complicated with extrapulmonary tuberculosis, with combination of isoniazid rifampicin and pyrazinamide.

Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 1994;0(05):-
Objective: This study was to observe the changes of IL-6 gene expression in acute repetitive hypoxia. Method: When the ratio of living cells was more than 95%, nerve cells cultured were passed through with mixed gases of 95% N_2+5%CO_2 for 3 min followed by another gases mixture of 95% O2+5% CO_2 for 10 min. After repeated the experiment as above, the alteration in the expression of IL-6 gene was measured using the RT-PCR method. The prod ucts of PCR were analyzed with computer Gel imaging and image analysis instrument. Result: After the first hypoxia IL-6 gene expression enhanced, and after the second hypoxia, it was still stronger than baseline although it declined slightly. There was no significant RNA disintegration. Conclusion:The IL-6 involves in the cellular defense in hypoxia adaptation.

Objective To elucidate the mechanotransduction pathways and gene expression in osteoblasts in response to fluid-induced shear stress in hope to be applied in tissue engineering. Methods Osteoblastic MG63 cells were exposed to shear stress of 12 dynes/cm2 for the designated times and their activations of MAPK(i.e., ERK,JNK,and P38)were examined by western blotting. The expressions of bone formation-related genes,in- cluding COX-2,Egr-1,c-fos,and OPN,were detected by RT-PCR.Results We found that shear stress induced phosphorylation of ERK,JNK,and P38 MAPK,and expressions of bone formation-related genes, including COX-2, Egr-1,c-los,and OPN.Conclusions Shear stress can turn on the signal transduetion and enhance bone forma- tion-related gene expression in osteoblasts. This phenomenon may imply that shear stress can be applied in tissue engineering.
