OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the biological compatibility and clinical therapeutic effect of the medical sterilized bone wax.METHODS:Embedding test and pathological test as well as hemolytic test were performed by using rabbits as test animal.12531case-times were investigated in respect to the therapeutic effect, prognosis and satisfactory rate.RESULTS:The embedded bone wax was coated by connective tissue and has not been absorbed without surrounding inflammation, edema or necrosis. The bone wax could not be absorbed after stanching bleeding of the bone broken surface. No hemolytic phenomena were observed. The wound healing obtained a satisfactory rate of99.1%.CONCLUSION:The sterilized medical bone wax has good biological compatibility and is safe and effective to stanch bleeding. It is convenient to use due to its singer dose sterilized packaging.

Objective To investigate the inhibiting effect of interleukin (IL)‐24 combined with targeted attenuated Salmonella typhimurium vector SL7207/pBud‐VP3 on the growth of gastric cancer cells .Methods The co‐expression eukaryotic expression plasmid pBud‐VP3‐IL‐24 was constructed .The plasmid pBud‐VP3‐IL‐24 was transformed into attenuated Salmonella typhimurium SL7207 by using the high voltage electroporation for constructing the SL 7207/pBud‐VP3‐IL‐24 strain .The mouse gastric cancer transplantation tumor model was established and randomly divided into the normal saline control group ,SL7207/pBud group , SL7207/pBud‐VP3 group and SL7207/pBud‐VP3‐IL‐24 group .The tumor‐bearing mice were fed by oral administration of bacterial strain .The tumor volume was measured and the tumor inhibition rate was calculated .The expression of IL‐24 was detected by Western blotting .The levels of IFN‐γ,IL‐6 and TNF‐αin tumor tissue were detected by using RT‐PCR .The expression of Caspase‐3 and VEGF were detected by using immunohistochemistry .Results The plasmids attenuated Salmonella typhimurium vector carrying the gene IL‐24 was successfully constructed .The IL‐24 protein expression was detected in gastric cancer tissue after 14 d treatment .The tumor volume after 28 d treatment in the SL7207/pBud‐VP3‐IL‐24 group was reduced compared with the other groups ,moreover the tumor growth was significantly inhibited ,and the differences were statistically significant (P<0 .05) .RT‐PCR and immunohistochemistry results showed that IL‐24 combined with SL7207/bBud‐VP3 could significantly increase the expression levels of immune factor IL‐6 ,IFN‐γ and TNF‐αin tumor tissue ,.in addition ,up‐regulated the expression of Caspase‐3 and down‐regulated the VEGF expression(P<0 .05) .Conclu‐sion IL‐24 combined with SL7207/pBud‐VP3 can synergically play the inhibitory effect on the growth of gastric cancer cells ,its mecha‐nism is related with the tumor apoptosis promotion ,tumor vessel inhibition and immune regulation .

OBJECTIVE:To prepare the sterilized medical bone wax and to establish the standard of quality control.METHODS:The bone wax was identified with chemical approach and the quality of bone wax was evaluated by saponification value.RESULTS:The bone wax was appropriate in formula, feasible in preparing technique and satisfactory in therapeutic efficacy with a satisfication rate of 98%.CONCLUSION:There are no obvious differences between the bone wax developed by our hospital and imported bone wax in quality, therefore the prepared bone wax can take the place of imported products.

OBJECTIVETo compare the incidences of complications associated with 3 different endoscopic procedures, namely transurethral resection of prostate (TURP), bipolar plasmakinetic resection of the prostate (PKRP), and holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and assess the clinical value of the Clavien-Dindo classification system for standardizing the evaluation of the complications.
METHODSBetween January 2010 and December 2013, a total of 625 patients with BPH scheduled for endoscopic surgery underwent TURP (214 cases), PKRP (207 cases), or HoLEP (204 cases). The complications were recorded in each group and analyzed using the Clavien-Dindo classification system.
RESULTSThere was no significant difference in the baseline data among the 3 groups (P>0.05). TURP was associated with a higher total incidence rate of complications than PKRP and HoLEP, and the incidences of electrolyte disturbance, massive intraoperative hemorrhage, urinary irritation symptom, urinary blockage, transurethral resection syndrome (TRUS), and erectile dysfunction (ED) differed significantly among the 3 groups (P<0.05). According to Clavien-Dindo classification, the incidence of grade II complications was significantly higher in TURP group than in PKRP and HoLEP groups (P<0.05), and that of grades III and IV complications was significantly higher in TURP group than in HoLEP group (P<0.05); no significant difference was found in grade I or V complications among the 3 groups (P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONAccording to the results of Clavien-Dindo classification analysis, PKRP and HoLEP are associated with fewer complications with a better safety profile in the treatment of BPH. The current Clavien-Dindo classification system can contribute to standardized evaluation of surgical complications but still needs further modifications for better performance.
