Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2015;31(4):296-299
Hypothyroidism is a common endocrine disease. Its treatment depends on thyroid hormone replacement therapy.Currently, levothyroxine (L-T4) is the preparation recommended by many guidelines. However, there are some L-T4-treated patients with normal TSH levels and persistent non-specific symptoms and discomforts. Therefore, combination therapy with L-T4and liothyronine (L-T3) has been considered as an alternative option for hypothyroidism. However, more prospective studies are needed to provide evidence-based effects for this kind of regimen.

Objective:To study the direct medical expenses for inpatients with Multiple Myeloma and explore its influencing factors. Methods:A total of 1386 hospitalization records were collected using the reimbursement claim database in Guangzhou City during the period from January 2009 to December 2011 , which covered the entire enroll-ees of Urban Employee Basic Medical Insurance ( UEBMI) and Urban Resident Basic Medical Insurance ( URBMI) . Multivariate logarithmic regression models were used to analyze the influencing factors of direct hospitalization costs. Results:During the period from 2009 to 2011 , the total costs of inpatients with Multiple Myeloma were 19319 . 16 , 17364. 76 and 21427. 44 Yuan, and the individual out-of-pocket cash payments were 7049. 37, 5216. 5 and 6475. 39 Yuan respectively. The major influencing factors on direct medical costs of inpatients with the aforesaid disease were identified to be age, health insurance type, hospital level and length of hospitalization. Besides, the proportion of drug expenses as per average occupancy rate among UEBMI and URBMI cases during three years were 61. 92% and 69. 22% respectively. Conclusion: The direct medical costs for inpatients with Multiple Myeloma are high and the medicine cost is the main component of total medical expenses. In addition, the economic burden is higher for patients with URBMI than for those with UEBMI for treating Multiple Myeloma.

Chinese Journal of Forensic Medicine 2002;0(06):-
Objective In human, both in vivo and in vitro, telomere shortening appears to be a major component of cell senescence and aging. However, gender specific human telomere shortening needs to be further characterized. Therefore our study is aimed at clarifying gender-dependent profiles of telomere shortening. Methods 123 peripheral blood samples were collected from healthy individuals of different ages. The mean telomeric restricted fragment (TRF) was measured using Southern Blotting with Dig-labeled probe. Results Distinguished dynamics profiles of telomere shortening were observed among different age groups. Conclusion The result indicates that there are gender specific dynamic profiles of telomere shortening. Therefore, the gender must be considered when an individual age is estimated by telomeric restricted fragment length assay.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between hormone sensitive lipase (HSL) gene polymorphism and aerobic endurance.
METHODSThe (CA)n repeats polymorphism genotypes in HSL intro 6 of 123 outstanding long distance runners and 127 controls of Han nationality in northern China were analyzed by PCR and Fluorescence labeled STR-genescan. Repeat polymorphisms were grouped according to segmentation point and alleles were divided into long or short chains. Chi-square test was used to analyze the frequency difference of allelic and genotypic between athlete and control groups.
RESULTS(CA) n repeats polymorphism in HSL gene was total of 9 different repeat number of alleles, which composed of 25 different genotypes. The chi-square test result showed that when compared short and long chain alleles split by 4, there was a significant difference (P <0.05) of genotype distribution in 5/10 km group compared with control. Compared the rest groups with control, there was no significant difference.
CONCLUSIONCompared short and long chain alleles split by 4, the LL genotype of (CA)n of HSL was associated with aerobic endurance and it might be a molecular marker of elite 5/10 km long distance runners.
