1.Effect of Tianmashouwu Tablet on migraine

Objective: To discover the connection between migraine and Tianmashouwu Tablet (TMT) in endothelial cell perspective. Methods: Serum containing TMT was added to rat's cerebral capilary endothelial cell's culture to observe the changes of NO and ET, and effect on express of ETmRNA and iNOSmRNA. Results: Levels of iNOSmRNA, rCMECs and ETmRNA were all downregulated, and contents of both NO and ET were decreased. Conclusions: TMT is effective in protection against rCMECs induced apoptosis, and has a therapeutic effect on migraine.
2.Journal selection and indexing for Index Medicus and Chinese periodicals indexed in Index Medicus

Index Medicus/MEDLINE/PubMed published by U. S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) is the most important and commonly used biomedical literature retrieval system in the world. According to the"List of Journals Indexed in Index Medicus (2004)", 4,098 journals are indexed for Index Medicus, including 70 journals from mainland China and Hong Kong and 9 journals from Taiwan. Journal of Chinese Integrative Medicine established in May, 2003 is indexed in Index Medicus in 2004. This article outlines the critical elements of journal selection for Index Medicus/MEDLINE and the journal selection process for indexing at NLM, and introduces some measures for the Journal of Chinese Integrative Medicine being indexed in Index Medicus/MEDLINE.
3.Research about improving flowability of powder of Chinese herbs extracts by surface modification technology.

In this study, modification technology by surface coating was used to improve the flowability of powder of Chinese herbs extracts. Seven kinds of powder of Chinese herbs extracts were coated with 1% silica nanoparticles using an under-driven Comil. The powder characteristics tester was used to evaluate the flowability of uncoated and coated powders. Surface morphology and particle size distribution of powders were compared by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and optical microscope. The powder hygroscopicity was also investigated. The results showed that, after modification, angle of repose, angle of spatula, compressibility and adhesiveness extremely decreased, and flowability index substantially increased, the powder flowability was significantly improved, especially Gegen and Dahuang extracts powders. Scanning electron microscopy images showed the distribution of silica nanoparticles on the host drug particle surfaces. There were no remarkable changes in the particle size distribution and hygroscopicity of all powders after coating. Therefore, Comilling for surface coating modification technology was an effective method to improve the flowability of Chinese herbs extracts and suggested a possible way forward to enhance the quality of Chinese drugs pharmaceutics in their study and manufacture.

5.Anterior two-thirds or complete corpus callosotomy for treatment of medically drug-resistant epilepsy

Objective To investigate the extents of corpus callosotomy (CC) resulting in optimal seizure control and compare the efficacies and complications of two CC approaches. Methods Clinical data of 25 patients underwent CC in our hospital from January 2013 to December 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. All 25 patients were diagnosed as having medically refractory epilepsy, and 27 CC procedures were performed. The patients underwent either anterior two thirds CC (n=13) or single-stage complete CC (n=12). Two patients had a second-stage posterior CC in 61 and 36 months after anterior CC, respectively. The efficacies were studied by using two evaluation indexes, the effective rate (worthwhile improvements) and the markedly effective rate (favorable outcomes).Results The average postoperative follow-up time was 2.6 years. In comparison, the markedly effective rate (>75% reduction in seizure frequency or severity) was 71.4% after complete CC and 15.4% after anterior two thirds CC with a statistical significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). The effective rate (>50% reduction in seizure frequency or severity) of complete CC (78.6%) was higher than that of anterior two thirds CC (53.8%), but without significant difference (P>0.05). Overall, 66.7% of patients benefited from anterior or complete CC. There were no such complications as intracranial hemorrhage, hydrocephalus, cerebrospinal fluid leakage or postoperative infection.Conclusion Complete CC is more effective for seizure control than anterior two thirds CC; no permanent neurological deficits are observed postoperatively.
