1.Growth factor in diabetic neuropathy and nerve regeneration
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1981;0(03):-
Diabetic neuropathy is the most common peripheral neuropathy, and it is important to enhance both nerve regeneration and prevent nerve degeneration in its treatment. Disturbed nerve regeneration in diabetes has been ascribed,at least in part,to decreases of some neurotrophic factors or the decreases of their receptor expressions. This paper reviewed the effect of some major neurotrophic factors on diabetic neuropathy and their application in clinical treatment.

Journal of International Oncology 2011;38(9):703-707
Colorectal cancer is the third high incidence of tumor in the world, and liver is one of the most common sites of distant metastasis.Liver metastasis accounts for 50%-75% in distant metastasis.Only about 10% -15% of patients are candidates for resection, and the recurrence is easy.Selective internal radiation therapy is a new type of radiotherapy. It is partial and liver-targeted.For unresectable colorectal liver metastasis, selective internal radiation therapy alone or in combination with other therapies can reduce cancer focus, prolong the survival, and maybe improve overall survival.

Objective:To investigate the effect of mycophenolate mofetil(MMF)on proliferation and apoptosis of cyst-lining epithelial cells in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease(ADPKD),and to compare its effect with that of rapamycin(RAPA)in vitro. Methods: Primary cultured cyst-lining epithelial cells were treated with MMF and RAPA at different concentrations(0,0.005,0.05,0.5,5 ?g/ml)for 48 h or 72 h.The inhibitory effects of them on the cells were evaluated by MTT assay;the cell cycle distribution and apoptotic ratio were determined by flow cytometry. The morphological changes of cyst-lining epithelial cells were observed under transmission electron microscope. Results: Both MMF and RAPA significantly inhibited the proliferation of cyst-lining epithelial cells in a dose-and time-dependent manner. After 48 h treatment, the cells were blocked at S phase by MMF and at G0/G1 phase by RAPA.Both drugs induced cell apoptosis, with the maximal apoptotic rate being(5.53?0.27)% for MMF and(4.36?0.10)% for PAPA.Typical morphological changes of apoptotic cells were observed under electron microscope. Conclusion: MMF can effectively inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis of cyst-lining epithelial cells, but its inhibitory effect is weaker than that of RAPA.

Objective To investigate the psychology and personality factors which affect soldiers' psychological health, in order to provide theoretical evidences for the changes in psychology among recruits engaged in tunnelling operation. Methods Using psychological health questionnaire (SCL-90) and Eysenck personality questionnaire (EPQ), 1191 recruits of missile army recruits were tested before and after the mission of tunnelling in 2004~2005 (with the exclusion the dropped outs, those who were transferred or did not complete the whole test period). Results After entering the tunnel, scores of human relationship sensitivity, anxiety, fright and positive items of the recruits were all higher than before the mission or that of servicemen′s norms. In a group of 931 healthy recruits, 157 turned sub-healthy, while 35 of a group of 260 sub-healthy turned healthy. Using EPQ to investigate the personality of these 2 groups, the C value of the former group was found to be on the high side, and this result showed that there had a tendency of concealment and pretension before entering the tunnel. The turnover observed in the latter group maybe due to their extroversion personality. The SCL-90 test of the latter group showed that it was also related to a lowering of score of human relationship sensitivity. Conclusion It shounld be emphasized that it is important to conduct self-education and psychological mediation for the recruits to improve relationship sensitivity and to allay anxiety and fear for the reeruits before and after the tunnelling operation, in order to improve their psychological health status.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1981;0(04):-
Objective To observe the effects of exercises on early stage of steroid-induced necrosis of the femoral head in rabbits with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods 24 adult rabbits were divided randomly into three groups, i.e. control group (group A), routine model group (group B) and experimental group (group C) with 8 animals for each group. Dexamethasone (DXM) was administrated in a dosage of 2.5mg/kg via intramuscular route to reproduce the aseptic necrosis of femoral head (ANFH) model in groups B and C, while only isotonic physiological saline was given to the animals in group A. MRI examinations were done at 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th week after administration of DXM for bilateral femoral heads, and also on a medial coronary area of the hip joints with a fixed area of circumambient soft tissure of 3 mm in diameter. Results At 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th week after the reproduction of the model, the t2-de3d-sag spot-signals given by MRI in the circumambient soft tissue of hip joints were 56.26?0.45, 58.05?0.27, 59.04?0.29 and 59.23?0.25 in group A, 61.40?0.41, 63.71?0.34, 69.65?0.28 and 71.84?0.3 in group B, and 59.54?0.39, 60.06?0.32, 62.71?0.19 and 63.18?0.40 in group C, respectively. Significant differences existed between each of two groups (F=84.93, P

Objective To study the quantitative method of determination of Fas ligand (FasL) and T-cell intracellular antigen-1 (TIA-1) in renal allografts and to evaluate its clinical significance. Methods The magnitude of intragraft FasL and TIA-1 mRNA was quantified by competitive PCR in 42 samples obtained to diagnose the etiology of graft dysfunction, and the results were expressed as the ratio of picograms of target gene to picograms of ?-actin, and were compared with the histopathogical diagnosis based on Banff criteria. Results Of all 42 samples, the transcripts were detectable in 11 for FasL and 27 for TIA-1. Intragraft expression of FasL and TIA-1 was significantly up-regulated in acute rejection group compared with chronic rejection group (P

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2001;0(12):-
Objective To reproduce an animal model of psychological simulation training, and to investigate the influence of psychological training on the ability of counter physical stress. Methods Thirty-two Wister rats were assigned to four groups,8 for each, namely control group(group A),psychological training group(group B),stress group(group C)and psychological training prior to stress(group D).Rats in group A received neither psychological training nor stress, group B received psychological training without stress, group C received stimulation including stress of strong noise and strong light, but without psychological training, and group D,after psychologically training for 4 weeks, received the same stress stimulation as group C.Twenty-four hours after stress,open-field experiment was done on group C and D.At last, rats in all the 4 groups were anesthetized by ether and 5ml of blood was drawn from each rat in order to detect the content of beta-endorphin(?-EP),corticosterone and IL-1?.Results In the open-field experiments, the psychologically trained groups(B and D)showed remarkably lower scores than the un-trained groups(A and C).The levels of ?-EP and corticosterone were significantly elevated in rats after receiving stress stimulation, while that of IL-1? lowered dramatically. The level of ?-EP and corticosterone in psychological training group(group D)was remarkably lower, while that of IL-1? was higher, than the stress group(group C)during the stress. Conclusion Psychological training can lessen the inhibitory effects of harmful stress on endocrine and immunologic functions, and enhance the physical ability to confront stress.

Objective: To investigate the ultrasonographic features of hyperplastic parathyroid glands in patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism. Methods: Fifty-nine uremic patients accompanied with hyperparathyroidism underwent high resolution parathyroid ultrasonography. On 3 of them ultrasound-guided parathyroid biopsies were performed. The ultrasonographic manifestations of the hyperplastic parathyroids were compared with the optical histology from biopsy. Results :(1) The overall detection rate of parathyroid glands was 83.1% by high resolution ultrasonography, and among those 93. 9% were found to have 1 to 2 glands detectable. (2) Five kinds of manifestations were found, among which the homogeneous internal hypoechoes and multiple hyperechoic rings of calcification in the parathyroid parenchyma were characteristic. (3) One patient showed coexistence of adenoma hyperechoes and hyperplasia hypoechoes in a single parathyroid gland. (4) Lithonephria occured in the transplanted kidney in a patient received renal treated by a successful transplantation, which was indicative of tertiary hyperparathyroidism. Conclusion: High resolution ultrasonography is sensitive and specific to detect the abnormalities of parathyroid glands in the patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism. It is complementary to the laboratory tests of serum parathyroid hormone and serum calcium, and it is valuable for the diagnosis and followup evaluation of hyperparathyroidism. It may be used for the screening of presence or future development of secondary hyperparathyroidism in uremic candidates.
