BACKGROUND: In-training examination (ITE) is a cognitive examination similar to the written test, but it is different from the Clinical Practice Examination of the Korean Academy of Family Medicine (KAFM) Certification Examination (CE). The objective of this is to estimate the positive predictive value of the KAFM-ITE for identifying residents at risk for poor performance on the three types of KAFM-CE. METHODS: 372 residents who completed the KAFM-CE in 2011 were included. We compared the mean KAFM-CE scores with ITE experience. We evaluated the correlation and the positive predictive value (PPV) of ITE for the multiple choice question (MCQ) scores of 1st written test & 2nd slide examination, the total clinical practice examination scores, and the total sum of 2nd test. RESULTS: 275 out of 372 residents completed ITE. Those who completed ITE had significantly higher MCQ scores of 1st written test than those who did not. The correlation of ITE scores with 1st written MCQ (0.627) was found to be the highest among the other kinds of CE. The PPV of the ITE score for 1st written MCQ scores was 0.672. The PPV of the ITE score ranged from 0.376 to 0.502. CONCLUSION: The score of the KAFM ITE has acceptable positive predictive value that could be used as a part of comprehensive evaluation system for residents in cognitive field.

As the special subject of the applicant for registration of medical device, the research and development institutions have insufficient conditions and abilities to become medical device registrants, and there are certain difficulties in the actual registration application process, such as not clearing the certification path for the research and development institutions to hold the certificate. In view of the existing problems, by comparing the path of medicine research and development institutions to become medical device registrants and combining with the actual medical device industry to give relevant suggestions, including improving quality management over the whole life cycle of medical devices, quality and safety responsibility ability of research and development institutions, establishing the registration and certification path of research and development institutions, supporting laws and regulations, etc., so as to ensure that the research and development institutions become medical device registrants successfully.

After discussion about the need to develop an obesity educator training program and certification for obesity educators, the Education Committee of the Korean Society for the Study of Obesity has developed and determined the main theme for the Obesity Educator Training Program implemented as a workshop and public hearing. We reviewed the process of the determination of the main theme and discuss topics such as subjects, operation of the program, and certification processing to design a credible obesity educator training program.

This study was performed to inquire demand for indroducing certification on contract foodservice management company(CFMC) and review about the system in a related field. The methodology was practiced an in-depth interview for grasping demand on certification of CFMC and composition on an appraiser group. Content analysis was reviewed about the system in a related field. Large enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises were positive opinion on a certification of CFMC and they suggested that education and research institution, industry, government, association will be included in appraiser group. The review about the system of a related industry was investigated by field such as similar product and service with restaurant industry, similar service with hotel and tourism industry. And similar purpose with a certification of CFMC was put in operation as PQ(pre-qualification) and selecting an adequate corporation in architecture industry. Therefore, a certification of CFMC should be tried to scientific introduction by objective verification.
