Objective To explore the differences of nerve conduction of lower limbs in general population with different nationalities in Xining region.Methods Physical examination and healthy volunteers in No.1 People's Hospital of Xining were collected.Two hundred and forty Hui people of them was Hui group.Two hundred and forty people with other ethnic minorities including Tibetan,Tu and Mongolian of them was mixed group.Two hundred and forty Han people of them was Han group.The nerve conduction of lower limbs in all the people were detected.And the differences were compared.Results The differences of nerve conduction of posterior tibial nerve among all the groups were not statistical significant (all P>0.05).The latent period of common peroneal nerve in Hui group was significantly longer than mixed group and Han group,the motor conduction velocity of which was significantly slower,the motor nerve action potential of which was significantly reduced (all P<0.05).The latent period of superficial peroneal nerve in Hui group was significantly longer than mixed group and Han group,the sensory conduction velocity of which was significantly slower,the sensory nerve action potential of which was significantly reduced (all P<0.05).The differences of nerve conduction of sural nerve among all the groups were not statistical significant (all P>0.05).The differences of nerve conduction of each group among different age periods were statistical significant(all P<0.05).Conclusions The nerve conduction of lower limbs in general Hui people in Xining region must be different with other general people.It must be noticed in clinical examination.

Apoptosis, a common and evolutionarily conserved property of all metazoan,is an essential part of life. The loss of cellular homeostasis balance is a character of tumor. The mitochondria (the intrinsic pathway) and the death receptors (the extrinsic pathway) are two major signal transduction pathways. With elucidation of the apoptotic molecular mechanism, some key proteins and genes related with apoptosis had been as the molecular targets for anticancer new drugs. There is the fundamental signficance to research further both apoptotic molecular mechanism and tumor therapy. [

Objective To observe the effects of extracts of ginkgo leaves (EGL) on acute myocardial infarction, acute myocardial ischemia and blood hemorheology.Methods The effects of EGL on acute myocardial infarction were observed in dogs model induced by the ligation of anterior descending branch of left coronary artery; effects on acute myocardial ischemia were observed on rats model caused by intravenous injection of pituitrin and effects on blood hemorheology were observed in rabbits. Results EGL significantly reduced the myocardial infarction area, decreased the activities of lactate dehydrogenase and creatine phosphokinase in dogs, reduced the elevation of ST segment of electrocardiogram in rats with myocardial ischemia and decreased whole blood viscosity and plasma viscosity in rabbits. Conclusion EGL has protective effect against myocardial ischemic injury and can improve the parameters of blood hemorheology in rabbits. Its mechanism may be concerned with the reduction of the myocardial infarction area and infarction degree and the relief of acute myocardial ischemia.

AIM: To investigate the inhibitory effect of Chinese medicine Jinan injection(JA) on Lewis lung cancer (LLC) in mice. METHODS: The C 57 BL/6J mice with Lewis lung cancer(LLC) were divided into normal saline(NS), Jinan high dose (JAH), Jinan middle dose (JAM), Jinan low dose (JAL) and cyclophosphamide(CTX) groups. The body weight changes and inhibitory rate of LLC in each group were observed. In addition, flow cytometry and TUNEL were used to detect the anticancer mechanism of Jinan. RESULTS: The body weights were increased significantly in JA-treated groups vs CTX and the resistant rate was 45.79%, 40.90%, 32.48% and 98.96%, respectively. The apoptotic rate was 24.19%, 14.95% and 13.93% in JAH, JAM and JAL, respectively, and the Jinan induced apoptosis of LIC in a dose-dependent manner.CONCLUSION: Jinan injection inhibites the growth of LLC, and the apoptosis induction may be one of mechanisms that Jinan treates LLC in mice.

Heavy metal residue in vegetables is a big concern in the whole world.The aim of this work is to explore the effect of multivariable selection on analyzing Cd in Chinese cabbage polluted in lab by collecting the spectra of laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) from the samples.At the same time,the actual Cd content in samples was obtained by anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV).The LIBS spectral range in partial least square (PLS) model was screened by standard normal variable transformation (SNV),first derivative (FD),second derivative (SD) and center treatment (CT) for preprocessing spectra and the optimized method was used for the analysis of interval partial least square (iPLS) and synergy interval partial least square (SiPLS).The results indicated that the method of CT was the best as a comparison with PLS,iPLS and SiPLS.And the intervals of wavelength were 214.72-215.82 nm,215.88-216.97 nm and 225.08 -226.35 nm by utilizing the optimized SiPLS.Here the root mean square error of cross validation (RMSECV) between real content and predicted ones was 1.487,the root mean squared error of prediction (RMSEP) was 1.094,the correlation coefficient (R) was 0.9942,and the average relative error (ARE) was 11.60％.The results displayed that LIBS could predict Cd in vegetables by multivariable selection of SiPLS and the accuracy could meet the requirement of rapid and green analysis of Cd in vegetables.

AIM: To investigate the effects of Chinese medicine, Jinan injection, on ultrastructure and mitochondria in cultured lung cancer cell lines. METHODS: The cultured lung cancer cell lines PG and PAa were used and divided into 4 groups: control (C), cisplatin (DDP), Jinan (JA) and Jinan in combination with cisplatin (DJ), respectively. The changes of morphology and mitochondria membrane potential, intracellular Ca~(2+) and pH in every group were observed by inverted microscope and electronic microscope as well as by using flow cytometry, staining by rhodamine, Fluo-3 and BCECF, respectively. RESULTS: Degeneration cells showed chromatin condensation and peripheral congregation. In cytoplasm autophage lysosome increased and myelinoid body was seen easily. In mitochondria structure, where the space between the inner and outer membranes of these organelles expanded as the matrix was compressed. The electron-dense or swelled was observed as vacuole degeneration and its matrix showed electron-lucent. Compared to control, mitochondria membrane potential increased in every group after 24 h and 48 h treatment. DDP increased intracellular calcium ion in PG cells, however, in PAa cells, JA and DJ decreased it. Intracellular pH got lower at 24 h and higher at 48 h in PG and PAa cells. The expressions of NF-κB and PPARγ were increased in adipose tissue of insulin resistant rats.The angiotensin receptor blocker decreased NF-κB protein expression by 21%,increased PPARγ protein expression by 28%and diminished adipocyte size,suggesting that these findings may be involved in the improvement of obesity-induced inflammation and insulin resisitance.

Objective: The present study aimed to isolate and characterize a cancer stem cell-like sphere-forming cell subpopula-tion. Methods: By using a spheroid culture stem cell-conditioned medium, we isolated a subgroup of cancer stem-like cells from naso-pharyngeal cancer cell lines. Chemotherapy resistance was analyzed by using methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium, and clone-forming capabili-ty was determined by using softer agar clone formation assay. Finally, we verified the expression of the stemness-specific gene andβ-catenin by using immunocytochemistry staining and RT-PCR. Results: The lower-differentiated nasopharyngeal cancer lines con-tained more sphere-forming cells, whereas sphere-forming cells were not observed in the high differentiated nasopharyngeal cancer line CNE-1. Compared with CNE-2, CNE-2S (sphere-forming cells derived from CNE-2) exhibited higher chemotherapy resistance and clone-forming ability. Interestingly, the stemness genes BMI-1, ABCG2, and ALDH1 exhibited higher expression in CNE-2S than in CNE-2. β-catenin, a vital transcription factor of the WNT pathway related to stem cells, exhibited higher expression in CNE-2s cellular nucleus and plasma than in CNE-2. Conclusion: We isolated a subgroup of stem-like nasopharyngeal cancer sphere-forming cells. This discovery paves the way for the development of therapeutic strategies aimed at eradicating tumorigenic subpopulations in nasopharyn-geal cancer.

BACKGROUND:It may be an important approach to avoiding organ transplant rejection by utilizing immature dendritic cells to induce donor-specific immunologic tolerance. OBJECTIVE:To study the effect of sinomenine on the differentiation and maturation of rat bone marrow-derived dendritic celsin vitro. METHODS:Bone marrow-derived dendritic cells were isolated from the rat femur and tibia, and immature dendritic cells were induced by granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor and interleukin-4. On day 7, lipopolysaccharide was added and the cells were cultured to generate mature dendritic cells. Cells were divided into control group and low-, middle- and high-dose sinomenine treatment groups (SNL, SNM, SNH groups). Forty hours later, dendritic cels were harvested, and cell morphology was observed by inverted phase contrast microscope. The expression of CD80 and RT1B was detected by flow cytometry. ELISA was used to detect the expression of interleukin-12. The mixed lymphocyte reaction was used to detect the ability of dendritic cells to stimulate the activation of allogeneic T lymphocytes. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) Under the inverted microscope, the morphology of mature dendritic cells was observed in the control group; in the SNL group most dendritic cells were visible; in the SNM group, there were partially suspended cells with poor maturation; and in the SNH group, most of the cells were not mature. (2) The expression of CD80 in the control group was significantly lower than that in the SNL, SNM and SNH groups (P < 0.05), and the expression of RT1B was significantly reduced in the SNM and SNH groups than the control group. (3) Compared with the control group, the level of IL-12p70 in the cell supernatant was significantly decreased in the SNM and SNH groups (P < 0.01). (4) The ability of dendritic cells to stimulate T lymphocyte proliferation in the SNM and SNH groups was significantly decreased compared with the control group (P < 0.05). To conclude, sinomenine can inhibit the maturation of dendritic cells.

It is the hotspot that studying the interplay and mechanism between intestinal flora metabolites and diseases.Deoxycholic acid, one of the intestinal flora metabolites, is one of the most abundant secondary bile acids in human intestinal tract, which is corelated with many diseases, while the mechanisms remain unclear.The imbalance of deoxycholic acid is connected with the intestinal flora disorder and high fat diet, which could result in several immunoreaction and inflammatory reaction.In this review, the interaction between deoxycholic acid and digestive diseases in children, such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome, is discussed to explore their related mechanism, so as to clarify the direction of further study on the influence of intestinal microbiota metabolites deoxycholic acid on the human body.
