Objective To determine serum cytokine profiles and levels in patients with early diabetic retinopathy(DR)by using antibody array technology and analyze their clinical significances.Methods Among 32 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus,16 patients with mild to moderate non-proliferative DR were as DR group;and 16 patients without retinopathy,as diabetic control group.Eight healthy subjects were selected as normal control group.The profiles of 42 cytokines were detected by human cytokines antibody array(Raybiotech).Results Compared with diabetic control group,in DR group,levels of epithelial neutrophil-activating peptide-78(ENA-78),growth related gene(GRO),regulated upon activation normal T cell expressed and secreted(RANTES),angiogenin,vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF)increased significantly(P

?AlM: To evaluate the expressions and significances of endoplasmic reticulum stress related protein ( BlP ) , hypoxia-inducible factor-1α ( HlF-1α) and vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF) in the retina of diabetic rats.
?METHODS:Seventy-two male Sprague-Dawley ( SD) rats were chosen and divided randomly into 6 groups:normal control 2mo (C2m, n = 12), diabetes mellitus 2mo (D2m, n=12), normal control 4mo (C4m, n=12), diabetes mellitus 4mo (D4m, n = 12), normal control 6mo (C6m, n=12) and diabetes mellitus 6mo (D6m, n=12 ) . The diabetes mellitus mouse were induced by intraperitoneal injection of 0. 1mol/L streptozotocin (STZ, 65mg/kg). The expression of BlP, HlF-1α and VEGF in the retina were detected by enzyme- linked immuno sorbent assay. The location of BlP, HlF-1α and VEGF in epiretinal membranes were investigated by immunohistochemistry staining.
?RESULTS: BlP were significantly increase than control groups in all DM groups with the course of diabetes ( P<0. 01). HlF-1α were detected higher than control groups in all DM groups (P< 0. 05), but there was no statistical significance among treatment groups. VEGF in D4m and D6m groups were higher than control groups (P<0. 05), and there was statistical significance between D4m and D6m groups. BlP can be detected in control groups a little, mainly in the inner limiting membrane and ganglion cell layers. HlF - 1α cannot be detected in control groups, meanwhile it can be detected in all layers in DM. VEGF can be detected in control groups a little, it mainly be detected in inner nuclear layer, outer nuclear layer, around retinal vessel and ganglion cell layers in DM groups.
?CONCLUSlON:The expressions of BlP, HlF-1α and VEGF increase in the retina of diabetic rats than control groups with progressive of diabetes mellitus, both endoplasmic reticulum stress and HlF-1α signal path play important role in the progress of diabetic retinopathy.

Objective To study the clinicopathological characteristics of hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) in Chinese population with different criteria and guidelines. Methods Twenty four families fulfilling Amsterdam Criteria (AC), 15 additional families fulfilling Japanese Criteria (JC) and the remaining 19 patients fitting Bethesda Guidelines (BG) were analyzed. Results In the 24 AC families there were 116 malignant tumor patients including 90 colorectal cancer (CRC) subjects and in the 15 JC families there were 54 malignant tumor patients including 33 CRC cases. The two groups displayed similar clinical features. Mean age of first CRC at diagnosis was 46.1 and 51.4 years old, respectively. The proximal colonic cancers accounted for 55.4% versus 44.8%. Synchronous and metachronous multiple CRCs occurred in 25.6% and 18.2% of patients respectively. Totally there were 55 extracolonic tumors in the two groups. Gastric and endometrial carcinomas were two most common extracolonic tumor types in our series. The tumors of the 34 probands showed more frequent exophytic growth pattern, higher occurance of poorly differentiated carcinoma, A / B Dukes stage and more Crohn's like lymphoid reaction ( P

Objective To estimate the effect of itermittent subglottic secretions drainage(ISSD)on management of artificial airway to prevent tube-related pulmonary pneumonia.Methods One hundred ICU patients with intubation for artificial airway were divided equally into control and experiment group by random digits table.Both were managed with construction of artificial airway and besides the experiment group received ISSD. The two groups were compared in terms of incidence and occurrence time of catheter-related pneumonia, time for airway opening and ICU stay.Result The incidence and the occurrence time of pneumonia, time for airway opening and ICU stay time in the experiment group were significantly lower or shorter than those in the control group with statistical difference(all P<0.05).Conclusion ISSD is effective in decreasing the incidence of catheter related pneumonia, shortening the occurrence time of catheter related pneumonia and ICU stay time for the patients with artificial airway.

Objective To evaluate the effect of peer educatio n program by the application of the peer education on human immunodeficiency vir us/aeguired immune deficiency syndrome(HIV/AIDS) prevention and the analysis of the change on knowledge, attitude and behavior about HIV/AIDS among technical sc hool students in Shanghai. Methods Three technical schools in Shanghai were selected randomly. Two classes of each school were selected randomly as education group and the students added up to 284.Two hundred and sixty-one students of another 2 classes in each school were selected as the interior control group. Some freshmen came from medical un iversity were carefully trained as peer educators to conduct the education inclu ding 6 models. The same questionnaires were carried before and after the educati on in both groups. Results After peer education the score of average knowledge abo ut reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, STD was significantly higher than before (P 0.05). Conclusions The conduction of the peer education on HIV/AIDS pr evention among technical school students is effective in promoting the knowledge level,but the change of attitude and behavior is a long term. So we highly adv ocate that not only the health education for HIV/AIDS especially safe sex shall be given and strengthened among technical school students in order to promote t he notion of self-protection but also the conception of care others especially t he HIV/AIDS. Objective To explore the influence of intestinal trefoil factor (ITF) on interleukin-6(IL-6) in neonatal rat with necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC) ,and to discuss the protective machanism of ITF on NEC.Methods Thirty-two neonatal rats were divided randomly into four groups,group A as control group,group B as NEC group,group C as NEC+NS 0.2 mL group,group D as NEC+ITF 0.2 mg group.NEC model of neonatal rats were established.On the 4th day,all the subjects were put to death.Intestinal tissue within the boundary of ileum and cecum was obtained to observe histological changes.Other intestinal tissue was treated into homogenate.After the homogenate was centrifuged,supernates were used to test the density of IL-6.Results The density of IL-6 significantly decreased in group A,D than those in group B and C (Pa0.05).The pathological lesions indicated that intestinal tissue necrosis was severe in group B and C,which was graded as 3 points,but obviously lessen in group D,which was graded as 1 point,with ITF interfering.Conclusions Intestinal inflammation is ameliorated after ITF are injected hypodermically or intraperitoneally.ITF may provide a brand-new way for the therapy of NEC in neonatal rats.
