Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2009;08(6):405-406
One hundred and four patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and 17 patients with benign lung lesions were enrolled in the study. Carcinoembryonic antigen ( CEA), neural specific enolaee (NSE) and cytokemtin 19 fragment (CYFRA21-1) in serum were detected by dectruchemiluminescence method before and after operation. The serum levels of three markers in preoperative NSCLC patients were significandy higher than those of benign pulmonary diseases group (t = 7. 930, 5.568, 6. 110, P <0. 05) ; but there were no significant differences between postoperative NSCLC patients and benign disease patients (t = - 0.034, 1. 242, 0.691, P > 0.05 ). There were significant differences in serum levels of CEA, NSE and CYFRA21-1 before and after operation in NSCLC group ( t = 5.419, 4.722, 5.779, P < 0.05 ) ; but not in benign pulmonary disease group ( t = - 1.244, 0.732, 1. 000, P >0.05). This study indicates that detection of serum CEA, NSE and CYFRA21-1 is of monitoring value for treatment of non-small cell lung cancer.

3.Establishment of transplantable rat prostate carcinomas and study of its relationship to hormone dependency
Chinese Journal of Urology 2006;0(S2):-
Objective To establish transplantable rat prostate carcinoma and study its relationship to hormone dependency. Methods Six transplantable rat prostate carcinoma lines were established from primary tumors developing in the dorsolateral prostate of F344 rats receiving a combined treatment with 3, 2’-dimethyl-4-aminobiphenyl (DMAB) and testosterone propionate (TP). Results Growth in the subcutis of nude mice (ICR-nu/nu) is rapid with a doubling time of approximately 10 days and transplantability is 100%. The histological appearance of the transplanted tumors is very similar to that of the primaries and their structures have not been altered by after 8 passages. Androgen receptor immunohistochemistry revealed all to be negative. Conclusions These data indicate that the model should prove useful for studies of invasion, metastasis, and hormone dependency of prostate carcinomas.
4.Implication of androgen receptor gene methylation in transformation of hormone-resistance in prostate carcinoma
Chinese Journal of Urology 2006;0(S1):-
Objective To study the mechanisms underlying this loss of AR expression in rat prostate cancer. Methods The methylation status of the AR gene promoter region in rat prostate cancer and cell lines (PLS10,20,and 30) was investigated by Southern blotting,methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction, and methylation-sensitive single-strand conformation analysis (MS-SSQA). Results AR mRNA expression was not detected in any of the rat prostate cancers or cancer cell lines tested by Northern blot analysis. Higher levels of methylated CpGs were observed in PLS20 than that in PLS10 or 30. Demethylation treatment by 5-aza-2’-deoxycytidine restored AR mRNA expression in PLS20.The CpGs was suggested to be responsible for AR expression in rat prostate cancer, and found to be located-9 and-1 nucleotides upstream of the transcriptional initiation site. All of the examined rat prostate and seminal vesicle cancers demonstrated hypermethylation at these CpG sites. Conclusions These data clearly demonstrate that aberrant hypermethylation in the AR promoter region may play a critical role in AR expression in rat prostate cancers.Loss of AR expression might result in development of hormone-resistant prostate carcinoma.
5.Determination of Chemical Constituents of Galanga Resurrectionlily Rhizome from Hainan Province by GC-MS
China Pharmacy 1991;0(03):-
OBJECTIVE:To analyze the chemical constituents of Galanga Resurrectionlily Rhizome from Hainan province. METHODS: Galanga Resurrectionlily Rhizome volatile oil was extracted by wet distillation method and determined by GC-MS, and the relative content of different constituents was determined by chromatographic peak area normalization method. RESULTS: For Galanga resurrectionlily rhizome volatile oil, 21 chromatographic peaks were separated and 19 chemical constituents were detected. The chief constituents of the volatile oil were Ethyl-p-methoxycinnamate(49.118%), ethyl cinnamate (19.323%), pentadecane (15.018%) and ?-careen (5.270%). CONCLUSION: This method provided not only data for the further study of the physiological activity and action mechanism of Galanga Resurrectionlily Rhizome volatile oil but also scientific basis for the development and application of Galanga Resurrectionlily Rhizome volatile oil.
6.Effects of Emodin on the Cytoplasmic free Ca~(2+) in Peritoneal Macrophages From Mice
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 1994;0(04):-
Effect of Emodin (EMD) on free intracellular Ca2+([Ca2+]i) in peritoneal macrophages of mice was measured with Ca2+ sensitive fluorescent indicator Furi-2/A m quantitatively. Results showed that in the resting, [Ca2+]i level in the peritoneal macrophages was 198.56?44.82nmol/L (n=11) in Ca2+ free Hank's solution. After adding 0.75, 1.75 and 2.75 mmol/L CaCl2 to macrophages suspension sequentially, the free[Ca2+] levels were obviously higher as compared with that of the resting level (P
8.Three-dimensional gait analysis before and after total knee arthroplasty
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2007;0(13):-
AIM: To analyze gait of patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty by three-dimensional (3D) biomechanical approach. METHODS: Fifty-three patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty were selected from Zhongshan Hospital of Dalian University between November 2005 and November 2006, with average age of 59.2 years (range, 42-82 years). The subjects consisted of 33 males with average height of (172?13) cm and body mass of (64?11) kg, and 20 females with average height of (155?11) cm and body mass of (45?1l) kg. All patients were evaluated by 3D gait analysis motion analysis system (DVMC-8801), of which three step lengths at constant gait speed were measured. Sixteen points were set up around hip, knee and ankle and connected to build up 3D dynamic image. RESULTS: Gait speed, gait frequency, step length and affected limb standing phase were all significantly improved postoperatively (P

Chinese Journal of Rheumatology 2001;0(04):-
Objective To observe the effects of hypoxia on the expression of connective tissue growth factor(CTGF)and matrix metalloproteinase 9(MMP-9)in lung fibroblasts at different time points. Methods Fibroblasts were cultured at hypoxic condition 0,1.5,3,6,12 h respectively.CTGF mRNA and MMP-9 mRNA level were detected in each group by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).The concen- tration of CTGF and MMP-9 protein in fibroblasts supernatant were determined using enzyme-linked im- munosorbent assay(ELISA).Results Hypoxia stimulated fibroblasts increased the level of CTGF mRNA with- in 1.5 h,and the levels remained at a plateau up to 6 h,and then decreased by 12 h.The level of MMP-9 mRNA increased significantly within 3 h,and the levels kept the trend for increasing.ELISA revealed that the levels of both CTGF and MMP-9 protein/cell in medium conditioned by fibroblasts exposed to hypoxia were maximal at 12 h.The level of MMP in the CTGF-Ab treated groups was significantly decreased compared to the untreated groups. Conclusions These findings suggest that hypoxia stimulates fibroblasts to release CTGF as a mitogen factor, which initiates the fibrosis cascade and airway remodeling by regulating the balance of extracellular ma- trix synthesis and degradation via MMP-9 which is secreted by fibroblast cells in response to CTGF.
