Aim To examine the role of antioxidant effect of subhypotensive dose of ACE inhibitor ramipril in its anti hypertrophic effect in rat myocardium. METHODS Model of hypertension induced myocardial hypertrophy of rat was reproduced by coarctation of abdominal aorta. The effects of nitric oxide (NO) synthase inhibitor N L arginine (6 mg?kg -1 ?d -1 ) and Vitamin E(200 U?d -1 ) on cardiac hypertrophy were examined. The change of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and NO production (assayed as NO 2 -) were monitored. RESULTS The myocardial hypertrophy was effectively prevented under hypertensive condition after treatment with ramipril for 8 week, while SOD activity and NO 2 - content were significantly increased and lipid peroxidation was significantly attenuated. Vitamin E enhanced ramipril effect and N L arginine reversed its benficail effects. CONCLUSION These data showed that sub hypotensive dose of ramipril and in combination with vitamin E enhances myocardial antioxidative capability and NO release, which plays an important role in the mechanism of action involved in their antihypertensive cardiac hypertrophic effects.

Objective To test the effectiveness of an integrated intervention to improve control and management of type 2 diabetic patients. Methods The study was designed as a randomized and multi-center clinic trial for 24 weeks.150 overweight patients from 2 companies and one hospital in Shanghai were recruited. The principal objective of the project was to compare the effectiveness of a structured diabetes management program consisting of 200 kcal breakfast as a meal replacement with low glycemic index (GI),scheduled blood glucose monitoring(6 times per week),low GI diet consulting, monitoring and medical check up and nutritional education (diet consulting, health education on nutrition and healthy lifestyle) in overweight individuals with type 2 diabetes. Results At 12th week, the level of fasting blood glucose(FBG) in both groups decreased by 16.5% and 10.6%,and at 24th week, the FBG also decreased by 25.0% in intervention group, but in control group FGB increased 2.8% (P<0.01).Meanwhile,there were 8.2% and 11.1% reductions in HbA1C respectively at 12th week and at 24th week in intervention group, while the values were increased slightly in control group(P<0.01).Compared with control group, waist circumference, hip circumference, and blood pressure were significantly reduced after treatment for 24 weeks in intervention group (P<0.01).Conclusions Integrated intervention is an effective approach in managing FBG,HbA1C blood pressure, and weight control in overweight diabetic patients.

With the progress of society, the global development of scientific and technical research activities, and the increasing number of medical Institutional Review Board(IRB)review projects, the construction and management of electronic informatization have become extremely important. In the process of electronic information construction in institutional ethics review,it is necessary to take into account the new policy of ethical governance of science and technology, consider the system and standard operating procedures of IRB,and develop reasonable processes based on practical work, simplify manual operation, improve the accuracy of project management, achieve refined management, and facilitate communication among researchers, ethics committee secretaries, and members.

Objective:
To investigate different Er:YAG laser power settings on the bonding properties of IPS e.max CAD ceramics.
Methods :
96 IPS e.max CAD ceramics blocks (5 mm × 5 mm × 5 mm) were prepared and randomly divided into 8 groups (n = 12), the untreated blocks served as the control, while one of the experimental groups was treated with 4.5% HF for 20 seconds, six remaining test group (C、D、E、F、G、H) were treated with different Er: YAG laser power settings: 100 mJ、200 mJ、300 mJ、400 mJ、500 mJ and 600 mJ. Morphology of the ceramic surface was observed by atomic force microscopy and its shear bond strength (SBS) was tested.
Results :
Higher shear bond strength values were found in group C-H compared to group B, the highest is group F (24.12 ± 1.91) MPa. The difference was statistically significant. The atomic force microscope observation of the surface structure showed that the control group was smooth and flat, and the HF-like etching group formed a uniform needle-like convex structure. The laser group gradually formed a regularly arranged cylindrical convex structure, in which the surface of the G and H groups was damaged.
Conclusion
The Er: YAG laser power settings of 400 mJ can be used as an effective pretreatment method before bonding of IPS e.max CAD ceramic.
