1.Clinical study of prognostic value of interleukin-6 in diabetic ketoacidosis

Objective To investigate the value of interleukin-6 (IL-6) level as a prognostic indicator in diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) patients.Methods Data of 88 cases of DKA in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital collected from June 1,2010 to December 31,2012 were analyzed prospectively.They were divided into two groups according to the survival of patients followed up for 28 days:non-survival group (n =12) and survival group (n =76).Serum levels of IL-6,lactate,base excess and APACHE Ⅱ score in 24 hours after admission were compared between two groups by independent t test.The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was plotted to analyze the performance of IL-6 as a prognostic indicator in the early stage of DKA.Correlations between IL-6 value and lactate,base excess,APACHE Ⅱ score were analyzed.Results The IL-6 values were elevated obviously in non-survival group.The ROC of IL-6 had an area under curve (AUC) of 0.783,and the cut-off value of IL-6 for the death followed up for 28 days was 448.9 ng/L.In all patients,IL-6 values and APACHE Ⅱ score showed a positive correlation between them (r =0.919,P =0.005),and also positive correlations existed between IL-6 and lactate as well as base excess (r=0.922,P=0.003; r=0.887,P=0.015)in24 hours.Conclusions IL-6 value is a reliable prognostic indicator in the early stage of DKA.
2.Eruption of impacted permanent teeth associated with cystic lesions of the jaws after fenestrating decom-pression in adolescents

Objective:To investigate the eruption of cystic lesion associated impacted permanent teeth(CAIPT)of the jaws after fe-nestrating decompression in adolescents and to analyze the related factors that affect the eruption of CAIPT.Methods:32 cases of CAIPT were examined restrospectively by panoramic radiographs.The subjects were divided into erupted group(n =22),and nonerupt-ed group(n =10).Patient age,angulation of the CAIPT,the cusp depth,eruption space and the level of dental root formation meas-ured on intial panoramic radiograph,were subjected to statistical analysis.Results:The eruption of the impacted mandibular molar was significantly related to the cusp depth,level of dental root formation and the patient's age(P <0.05).The eruption of the impacted man-dibular premolar was significantly related to the cusp depth,level of dental root formation,the angulation of the tooth and the patient's age (P <0.05),but not to dental space for the eruption(P >0.05).Conclusion:The patient's age,angulation of impacted permanent teeth,cusp depth,eruption space,level of dental root formation should be considered in the management of CAIPT.
3.Investigation and analysis of the subjective life quality of hospitalized children

Objective To investigate the subjective life quality of hospitalized children and analyze its influencing factors for improving their life quality.Methods 48 hospitalized children who were admitted between May to August 2011 were investigated in convenience using inventory of subjective life quality (ISLQ).Results Patients investigated had a higher score than the national norm on Family Life Dimension.The satisfaction level of 20% ~ 30% children were below the average on Family Life and other eight dimensions,the cognitive components of 16 cases (33.3%) and emotional component of 11 cases (22.9%) were below the average.15 cases (31.3%) were not satisfied with their subjective quality of life.Female patients had higher scores than male patients on peer exchanges,body feelings and subjective quality of life satisfaction; the satisfaction level of experience depression for rural children was lower than urban children.Conclusions The subjective life quality of vast majority of hospitalized children is about the general level,but some patients still experience serious anxiety,depression and other negative psychological emotion.Nurses should guide the patients positively and specially,considering the influence of their gender and living places while providing caring.Based on the health education of patients and their family,we promote them to face the disease.
4.An in vitro study of obturation efficiency and outcomes of vertical condensation of warm guttapercha using the four-handed technique

ObjectiveTo evaluate the therapeutic efficiency and outcomes of vertical condensation of warm gutta-percha obturation using the four-handed technique.MethodsA split-tooth model constructed with lateral grooves and depressions was used to compare vertical condensation of warm gutta-percha obturation with and without the four-handed technique.Respectively 10 times of obturation were done in the four-handed group and the independent operation group.The operation time and defect replication quality were recorded.Evaluation of defect replication quality was on an ordinal scale 0 to 2 grade based on how much each defect was replicated.The results were statistically analyzed.ResultsThere were signiticant differences in treatment time between the four-handed group and theindependent operation group,as well as in treatment outcomes between two groups.ConclusionsUse of the four-handed technique can improve therapeutic efficiency and outcomes of vertical condensation of warm gutta-percha obturation.
5.Progress in the study of dental tissue-derived stem cells

Dental stem cells(DSCs)possess the characteristics of stem cells and can be effectively obtained from iatro-waste products (such as impacted wisdom tooth and the extracted teeth for orthodontic reason).It has been proved that DSCs are the important sources of stem cells for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine research.Research of these stem cells will create broader space for tissue engi-neering and regenerative medicine and will have important values in translational research.This review gives an overview of the research pro-gress of dental stem cells,and presents some new findings of several common dental stem cells as well as the application in tissue regenera-tion.
7.Effect of naringenin on KIM-1 expression in rats with renal interstitial fibrosis caused by unilateral ureteral obstruction

Objective To evaluate the effect of naringenin on KIM-1 expression in rats with renal interstitial fibrosis caused by unilateral ureteral obstruction(UUO).Methods 24 SD male rats were randomly divided into Sham group,UUO group and naringe-nin group(Nar group),respectively.Rats in UUO group and Nar group got UUO to establish renal interstitial fibrosis models. Rats in Sham group only free but not ligated and cut ureters.Rats were administered saline and naringenin 25 mg/(kg·d)for 14 days.Then,24 h urine samples were collected before the rats were killed,and KIM-1 in these samples were measured by ELISA. Specimens were obtained from obstructive renal,the pathological change of renal tubule and interstitial were observe by HE and Masson staining.Moreover,the tubulointerstitial damage index was scored and the expression of KIM-1 in renal tissue was examined by immunohistochemical staining.Results Compared with Sham group,the tubulointerstitial damage index of UUO group significantly increased(P <0.05),contents of KIM-1 in urine and renal tissues also significantly increased(P <0.05).Com-pared with UUO group,the tubulointerstitial damage index score of Nar group alleviated(P <0.01),contents of KIM-1 in urine and renal tissues also reduced(P <0.05 ).Correlation analysis showed that there was positive correlation between KIM-1 in urine and renal tissues and TDI(r=0.862,0.866,P <0.01).Conclusion Naringenin can relieve renal interstitial fibrosis and reduce the content of KIM-1.
8.Observation on the influence of ademetionine for the proteometabolism and fibrosis indexes of patients with chronic hepatitis B

Objective To observe the influence of ademetionine for the proteometabolism and fibrosis indexes of patients with chronic hepatitis B.Methods110 patients with chronic hepatitis B in our hospital from January to December 2016 were randomly divided into control group(conventional treatment of hepatitis B group)55 cases and observation group(conventional treatment and ademetionine group)55 cases.The serum expression levels of proteometabolism and fibrosis indexes of two groups before the treatment and after the treatment were detected and compared.ResultsThe serum expression levels of proteometabolism and fibrosis indexes of two groups before the treatment were compared,there were no significant differences,while the serum expression levels of proteometabolism indexes of observation group after the treatment were all higher than those of control group,the serum expression levels of fibrosis indexes were all lower than those of control group,there were all significant differences(all P<0.05).ConclusionThe ademetionine can significantly improve the expression state of proteometabolism and fibrosis indexes of patients with chronic hepatitis B,so the application value for the patients with chronic hepatitis B is relatively higher.
9.Comparison of color level among Vita,Shofu and Dentsply shade guide

Objective:To compare color level among Vita,Shofu and Dentsply shade guide. Methods:Vita,Shofu and Dentsply shade guide were scanned into a computer and saved as BMP pictures. L *, a * and b * values of the color of the images were measured by Photoshop. Results:There was same trend of variation in color of the shade guides, but the maximum and minimum of L *, a * and b * in those shade guides were different. Conclusion: For matching color accurately, one shade guide can not be used to replace the other one in clinical application.
10.Expression of angiogenic factors in myocardial tissue of diabetic rats

AIM:To observe the expression of angiogenesis factors in the myocardial tissue of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats .METHODS:The diabetic rat model was induced by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin .After 12 weeks, the cardiac function was measured by MPA cardiac function analysis system .The myocardial collagen volume fraction ( CVF) was assessed by Masson staining .The capillary vessels was quantified as the ratio of capillary to myocyte (C/M) using CD31 immunostaining.The expression levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), angiopoietin ( Ang)-1, endostatin and Ang-2 were observed by Western blotting .RESULTS:Compared with normal control group , the left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) was evidently increased (P<0.01), but left ventricular pressure rise maximum rate (+dp/dtmax), left ventricular pressure decrease maximum rate (-dp/dtmax) and the ratio of capillary/myo-cyte (C/M) were significantly decreased (P<0.05).The CVF and the expression level of endostatin were significantly increased, whereas the expression levels of VEGF and Ang-1 evidently decreased (both P<0.05) in diabetic rats.Howev-er, no marked difference in the expression of Ang-2 between the 2 groups was observed (P>0.05).CONCLUSION:Im-balances between the angiogenic factors (VEGF and Ang-1) and anti-angiogenic factors (endostatin) may play an impor-tant role in the pathogenesis of diabetic cardiomyopathy .
