Journal of Medical Research 2017;46(5):91-94
Objective To explore the potential relationship between left coronary bifurcation angle and plaques forming in left anterior descending artery by dual-source CT angiography. Methods One hundred patients who underwent dual-source CT angiography in our hospital from January to May during 2016 and had plaques in left anterior descending artery were retrospectively studied, while 100 patients with normal image were as negative controls. There were 57 male and 43 female at the mean age of (57.54 ±-8.38) years in negative controls, and 64 male and 36 female at the mean age of (62.08 ± 13.94) years in patients with left anterior descending artery plaques. The left coronary bifurcation angle was measured by multi-planar reconstruction (MPR) and maximum density projection (MIP) techniques. Results The left coronary bifurcation angle in negative control group were range from 41.25°to 112.14°,at the mean age of 69.45 ° ± 18.71 °,while range from 54.14 ° to 128.12 o,at the mean age of 85.65 °-± 15.96 ° in plaque group. The bifurcation angle in plaque group was larger than those in negative control group(P < 0.05).Conclusion Dual-source CTA could objectively evaluate left coronary bifurcation angle and plaque character. The left coronary bifurcation angle had an important influence on the formation of left anterior descending artery plaque.

Objective To investigate the mechanism of restenosis after carotid stent and balloon angioplasty for the Guangxi swines by intravascular ultrasound(IVUS). Methods Twelve Guangxi swines fed by a high cholesterol diet were randomly divided into two groups. Seven stents were implanted in the left carotid artery of six swines in the first group, and balloon angioplasty was performed in the left carotid artery of swines in the other group. Digital subtraction angiography(DSA) and IVUS were conducted respectively before and after the intervention and in the 13th week. Results IVUS found that the percentage of area stenosis in stent group was (18.31±7.79) % and in balloon group (37.28±7.89) % in the 13th week. The percentage of area restenosis in stent was obviously related to neointimal hyperplasia (r = 0.897, P<0.05), the percentage of area restenosis due to balloon angioplasty was markedly related to area decrease of external elastic lamina (r = 0.856, P<0.05). Conclusions The restenosis in stent was related to intimal hyperplasia of blood vessel, and restenosis after balloon angioplasty had some connection with area decrease of external elastic lamina.

Water and salt requirements were studied in 17 and 18 healthy young men respectively. Each subject walked in a hot and humid environment (DB 28-34℃, RH 50-76%) at a speed of 5 km/hr with backpack loads of 15-25 kg for four hours. Dehydration would occur if no water or inadequate water was supplied and it would affect circulatory, sweating and thermore-gulatory function. It was suggested that MCHC= mightbeasensitive index to determine whether the body was dehydrated or not and to evaluate adequate amount of drinking water. The results showed that water loss should be replaced preferably by periodic intake of small amounts of water throughout the work period and the total amount required was about 80% of sweat loss. Thus, the rise of body temperature and heart rate was less than that of the subjects drinking 250 ml/hr of water or drinking voluntarily and there was little change in MCHC. The results also showed that the loss of salt by sweating was closely related to heat acclimatization. Therefore it is imporatnt to provide adequate salt to those unacclima-tized. Those taking 20 gm/day had a mild increase of rectal temperature and heart rate during work period and their urinary excretions of chloride were above 5 gm/day. According to the experiment, 20 gm/day of salt gave a satisfactory result.
