Objective To investigate the progress and effectiveness of water-improving defluoridation projects comprehensively in control of fluorosis in drinking-water-borne endemic fluorosis areas in Hubei Province, and to provide a scientific basis for making strategies in prevention and control of endemic fluorosis. Methods All villages affected by fluorosis in drinking-water-borne endemic fluorosis areas were selected in Hubei Province,in which the progress and effectiveness of water-improving and defluoridation projects were investigated in 2015.Those villages were chosen to determine fluoride content of drinking water, and to check the prevalence of dental fluorosis of children 8 to 12 years old.Water fluoride content was tested with fluoride ion-selective electrode, and dental fluorosis was diagnosed by the Dean method. Results The water improvement projects were completed in 197 villages in the 30 disease affected counties (cities) with accomplishment rate 100.00% (197/197),geometric mean of water fluorine 0.36 mg/L,qualified rate of water fluorine 100.00% (197/197) and normal operation rate of the water-improvement projects 95.94% (189/197).Totally 14 856 children aged 8-12 were examined their dental fluorosis. The prevalence rate was 1.78% (265/14 856) and the dental fluorosis index was 0.04,which meant epidemic strength was negative.Totally 29 out of the 30 disease affected counties (cities) had met the disease control standards. Conclusion The prevalence of drinking-water-borne endemic fluorosis in Hubei Province has been under control, but management and monitoring of the water improvement projects still should be strengthened.

Objective To investigate the effect of minocycline on isoflurane-induced hippocampal neuroapoptosis and cognitive dysfunction in aged rats. Methods Forty-five male SD rats were randomly assigned into 3 groups ( n=15): blank control group ( group C) , 1.5% isoflurane group ( group I) and 50 mg??kg-1 minocycline+1.5% isoflurane group ( group M+I) . Minocycline was injected intraperitoneally 12 h before the start of anesthesia for group M+I.Group I and group M+I were exposed to 1.5% isoflurane for 4 h, while group C were exposed to 30% O2-70% N2.At the end of anesthesia, five rats in each group were randomized to analyse arterial blood gas. The other rats in each group were sent back to their home cage until they were fully awake.Fourteen days after anesthesia, Morris water maze was used to assess the cognitive function, and then hippocampi of rats were dissected for detection of the expression of cleaved caspase3, Bax and Bcl-2. Results No difference was found in arterial gas analysis among the 3 groups (P>0.05).Compared with group C, the rats in the group I spent more time locating the platform on the third and fourth training days and the time percentage that the rats in group I spent in the target quadrant was much less (P<0.05).However, these changes were reversed in group M+I (P<0.05).The isoflurane-induced increased level of Bax and cleaved caspase3 and decline of anti-apoptotic factor Bcl-2 were restored by minocycline pretreatment ( P<0.05) . Conclusion Minocycline could attenuate cognitive dysfunction induced by isofluranein aged rats. The mechanism is associated with inhibition of hippocampal neuroapoptosis which is increased by isoflurane.

METH-ODS:The clinical isolated bacteria in our hospital from 2011 to 2014 were identified and analyzed, and the amount of antibiotics in our hospital from 2011 to 2014 were analyzed. The operation and result of drug susceptibility test were in accordance with the standard of clinical laboratory standards institute(CLSI),using WHONET software for statistical processing. RESULTS:The main bacteria isolated in our hospital during 2011-2014 were as follows:constituent ratio of Escherichia coli were 14.93%,16.81%, 15.01% and 15.41%,respectively;that of Staphylococcus aureus were 9.84%,11.90%,9.83% and 7.17%,respectively;that of Acinetobacter baumannii were 9.00%, 9.95%, 14.24% and 18.64%, respectively;that of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were 12.36%,12.42%,14.20% and 15.48%,respectively. The main antibiotics used in our hospital during 2011-2014 were as fol-lows:the amount of piperacillin/tazobactam(2.25 g/a)were 4 685,12 610,13 639 and 14 542,respectively;that of cefepime (0.5 g/a)were 8 613,24 738,12 684 and 6 751,respectively;that of aztreonam(0.5 g/a)were 14 124,32 062,3 323 and 4 534,respectively;that of meropenem(0.5 g/a)were 2 291,5 436,6 813 and 5 341,repectively;that of levofloxacin(0.3 g/a) were 12 253,40 893,48 468 and 50 558,respectively. CONCLUSIONS:With the increase of antibiotics, susceptibility rate of main pathogen are gradually decreased;rational use of antibiotics plays an important role in decreasing the drug resistance.

AIM:To look for a way of produ cing mild therapeutic hypothermia through regulating transient re-ceptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 1 (TRPV1) pathway by dihydrocapsaicin (DHC).METHODS:Mice were subcutaneously injected with DHC at different doses (2 mg/kg, 3 mg/kg and 4 mg/kg) in order to find the best dose for reaching the target temperature (32~34℃).20%DMSO dissolved in normal saline was used as control group .After a single subcutaneous injection of DHC at an optimal dose was given , awaken CD1 mice were continuously infused with DHC at dose of 1 mg? kg-1? h-1 for providing a more rapid and stable temperature drop and duration of therapeutic mild hypothermia. The adult mice (9~10 weeks) and aged mice (24~27 months) were subcutaneously injected with DHC at the same dose, and the changes of the body temperature were monitored .RESULTS:DHC at 2 mg/kg resulted in a de-crease in the core temperature within the target therapeutic range (32~34 °C).After a bolus dose (2 mg/kg) was deliv-ered at 0 min followed by continuous infusion (1 mg? kg-1? h-1 ) beginning at 30 min, a rapid drop of body temperature to 34 ℃was achieved and the body temperature was maintained within the ranges of 32 to 34℃for the duration of the 6 h continuous infusion .DHC-mediated hypothermia did not lose its effectiveness in the adult and aged models .CONCLU-SION:DHC-induced activation of TRPV1 pathway produces mild therapeutic hypothermia .Besides, this method achieves stronger and longer center hypothermia and is suitable for the animals at different ages .

Objective The concentration of cytokines in the amniotic fluid ( AF) may reflect the immune state of maternal-fetal interface .This study aimed to investigate the level of inflammation -related cytokines in the mid-trimester AF of normal pregnant women. Methods This study included 263 pregnant women undergoing mid-trimester genetic amniocentesis , and all of them had normal pregnancy outcomes .Using MILLIPLEX MAP and Luminex, we measured the concentrations of interleukin IL-10, IL-1β, IL-6, monocyte chemotactic MCP-1, and tumor necrosis factor TNF-αin the AF collected from the women at 18-22 +6 weeks′gesta-tion.We analyzed the correlation of their concentrations with maternal age , gestational age , and fetal gender by rank sum test . Results The median concentrations of IL-10, IL-1β, IL-6, MCP-1, and TNF-αin AF at mid-trimester were 7.91, 0.97, 78.15, 1 135.57, and 8.47 pg/mL, respectively. The levels of IL-10 and IL-1βwere higher in the pregnancies with male fetuses than in those with female fetuses (8.54 and 1.18 pg/mL vs 7.72 and 0.85 pg/mL, P=0.043 and 0.008).Maternal age or gestational week at the mid-trimester exhibited no influence on the concentrations of the 5 cytokines. Conclusion The levels of IL-10, IL-1β, IL-6, MCP-1 and TNF-αremain stable in AF at mid-trimester and the former 2 are higher in pregnancies with male fetuses .
